Yea for sure, the more I read the more I'm liking this move. He's an underrated blocker and has more talent than he's been able to show thus far. I bet we had a solid grade on him coming out three years ago.Yeah if Allen is starter material then Higs will be phased out. Depends on Allen really. But I have to say that given that I expected to endure a subpar TE position this year this is a pleasant surprise. And it makes sense because this year's TE draft class is weak.
Rams just got tougher up front basically. That's really good for facing the shitters too btw. I like the direction for sure.
Most of our FA moves for offensive weapons has paid off big time. Plus giving #9 a 6'7 target in the red zone cant hurt.
You're pretty down on Jackson with multiple posts in his thread. But you ain't gonna find many who agree with you. Detroit had the best line in the league and he was part of that equation. A lot of people think its a very good signing. I'm one of them.
The Parkinson contract makes that Higbee extension look even dumber.
As far as our new tight end? Lemme see. Shane Waldron running that offense. Geno Smith throwing to the guy. Verses Sean McVay running the Rams offense. Matt Stafford will be throwing to him. I'd say the kid has a great opportunity to establish himself as a tier one tight end.

When Higbee signed the extension he was a valued veteran that, despite often being Banged-up, almost always Suited-Up on Sunday.
A devastating knee injury in January (on a dirty hit) made Tight End more of a priority than it would have been.
I agree. I thought it was odd when it was signed, and now burned us.

It's always a gamble signing a vet to a big contract. I don't regret the Higs contract, just that the timing is rotten. The Gurley contract I was even fine with, had McVay slowed down & rested him a bit more, he might've been healthier for the playoffs. Heck, the Higs hit was at the end of a game, when we might've had him resting on the sidelines already. But it is what it is.
....anyway, this Parkinson kid.... what a huuuuuuge kid he is. With semi-decent hands, he'll be fairly deadly as LB's won't know if they should cover him or not coming off of a bump route, afraid of getting pancaked if they guess wrong.
I really like this signing, this kid has experience, and rolling with what we have (and/or a rookie TE) wasn't going to be an option, we knew that going into this offseason after Higs got submarined. I"m on board so far!

From what little I know about Parkinson, he seems more complimentary to Allen. I can see Allen as more of a receiving threat while CP can be more inline, but also versatile enough to get out into the route tree and cause mismatches.
IMO this move is another strategic weapon in the arsenal that McVay is building to destroy the cousin fuckers from the north.
