He played okay against the lions until the 4th quarter when all they had to do was run the ball up the middle especially in OT

And week 2 against the Cardinals when we got blown out 41-10?

I remember him being horrible in that game. But then again everybody was horrible in that game.
I would think that's partially on play calling and having the wrong type of linebacker on the field.
We have already revamped our linebacker position.
He's a good third option in my opinion. But they have to have him on the field with the right play called.
Just my opinion

Rams had jimmy G & some guys in their Beefcake calendar, but they needed to fill it out with a guy for their October layout. You know, for the ladies.

I still blame him for the Rams going 1-4 in the first 5 games....

They didn't turn around until he got injured.
I'm re-watching the Rams-Raiders game.

Rams were without Puka, Kupp, Whittington, Avila, and Higbee, and that's just on offense. In prior weeks they had the AJ suspension and other injuries too, on both sides of the ball.

Rams turned it around when they started getting healthy.

Not commenting one way or another on Reeder, but it's definitely a stretch to blame our slow start on him. It was the injuries.

He adds to teams and depth, and knows the scheme cold. Long as he was cheap I have no probs with him returning.

But this thread is entertaining. :laugh3:

Did you even watch last years first 5 games.
I did and we lost for several reasons in addition to Reeder.

Rozeboom awful
Missed tackles - led by Verse
Bobby Brown nonfactor
And yeah, Reeder was bad. But to pin it all on him is unfair and inaccurate.

That's just on the defense side. The offense was atrocious and performed worse than the D.

This x100!

Reeder wasn't even the worst issue on defense. Teamwide missed tackles were the biggest issue.

Reeder was a huge reason why Rozeboom was awful.

I'll give you this one. Rozeboom did start playing better once Lake took over the green dot which suggests someone wasn't putting him in the right position.

We gave up over 100 plus yards rushing in the first 5 games. After Reeder got hurt, the defense was much better against the run. And Mattison got most of his yards in the 6th game when Reeder was still in the game.

Coincidence? I think not.

Only games we were terrible against the run after Reeder got injured were the two Philadelphia games. And when we let QBs run loose (like against Buffalo).

And Reeder was the green dot when he was playing.

He had the defense out of position on a lot of run plays in the first 6 games.

And the missed tackles was partly due to them being out of position.

And that's why I blame him for going 1 and 4 in the first 5 games.

No way we should have lost against Chicago even as bad as our offense was playing.

And we should have beaten Green Bay as well. Love was hurt that game. Our defense should have taken advantage of that.

I believe we would have been 3-2 if Reeder wasn't playing.

I posted this during the season but in those 100 plus yard rushing games, the Rams were on a record breaking pace for missed tackles.

The entire DL - Verse, Fiske, Turner, followed by Rozeboom - couldn't tackle for shit. And Brown was invisible. When your DL can't tackle and your NT is invisible, you will have bad run D. Guaranteed.

The team got healthy on offense, they started cleaning up fundamentals on defense, and lastly got rid of a weak link. That's what brought the turnaround. In that order, IMO.

And I have stated that I believe the missed tackles was due to Reeder putting them out of position too often.

They started tackling much better when Lake was given the green dot (again coincidence?)

Maybe I am putting too much blame on Reeder and the coaching staff improved the fundamentals but when I see an almost 100% turn around on defense and it started when Reeder got hurt ... well....

I know he was the green dot. That's why I conceded on Rozeboom. But the missed tackles issue wasn't because the D as a whole were out of position.

It felt like QBs and others slipped out of Verse's hands a 1000 times in the first few weeks. It was just bad fundamentals.

It's over. The season will be nothing but disappointment after disappointment. They will bring us to the brink of victory and then snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.
I usually watch every Ram game every year since '90 and as many games as possible since the early 1970s.
But this year I won't be able to stand the pain.
What am I?
Self-destructive and enjoying pain and misery? No...
I won't be able to watch the Rams this year
I'm sorry my Rams boys.
I won't be able to stand the pain of watching the misery,
because they re-signed.......
