How anyone could possibly get such a commonplace name as Tre’Davious wrong is beyond me.

I'm not saying it as an insult, but his name is literally in the tweet. Just saying that we should edit the title a bit.

Remarkable to me that the Rams appear to put such low value on upgrading edge.

White/Curl/Williams for what we're paying them is tremendous value - I don't think any such value exists in the front 7, which is why I think Edge/DT/LB will be priorities in the draft now

Maybe we went BPA and maybe we didn't. You don't believe DT was a need for the Rams in 2014? Brockers was going into his 3rd year and who else? Cudjo? I say DT was a need. Can you say with certainty AD was their #1 BPA there and not Cooks? Or Zach Martin? Sure BPA is BS.

When you say BPA isn't BS at all....let's say, if the Chargers are on the clock and the first 4 off the board are Caleb, Maye, Harrison and Alt, the Chargers should take Daniels? If he happens to be BPA? Despite having Herbert under center? EVERYBODY marries BPA and need. It's the most logical approach to drafting. I'd bet NOBODY goes strictly BPA.

The funny thing is many fans think their own BPA is the actual BPA so they bitch/complain when the team goes another direction. If we had access to the 32 teams big boards, we might find if those 4 went off the board we'd probably have a multitude of different BPA's for #5.

IMPO, BPA IS BS, as a rule. Need plays a huge part. That's not to say some teams don't go BPA if they can't trade down. But we'll never know for sure because teams will rarely divulge those facts. And when they do, can you really believe them?
Wow, my man, you sound grouchy about this lol..... remember I said sound since it's hard to consider how it's being said over written comments. BPA is not BS at all, but it definitely shouldn't overrule every decision. Of course if a QB is the BPA and you are set at QB, drafting a QB makes no sense although a trade would depending who is on the board. In regards to AD, we had Quinn and Long so no, the D line wasn't an urgent need necessarily, but it's the NFL where a need can instantly be created via bad luck like an untimely injury. In the end, it ended up being the best move ever and I'm so thankful we did because AD is the best defensive player we've had in our history and only donned the horns. Now let's say if the top rated CB in the board and let's say they are down to the 4th or 5th pass rusher as a DE, do you take the DE? I say hell no as the value is better for a CB. Trade back? Well we could lose a chance at a top flight corner? Honestly it's just fun for me personally to discuss all the routes even though the Rams will only take one. Regardless of what we are all debating, the Rams are going to do what they are going to do regardless of what one single person here thinks is the best move but at least one of us will be right in our guess hahahaha. I understand hating the bitching and complaining but honestly that's a normal reaction from a lot of fans. Most will get over it and will simply go back to the roots of wanting that player to succeed because it ultimately benefits the Rams. Best example I can give for myself is I like Newton way more than Murphy because of his pass rush acumen, but if the Rams draft Murphy will I be upset? I would say, slightly disappointed, but I'd still be excited to see Murphy in horns and would root my ass off for the kid to be the best ever like I do every Ram. In the end, let's just say I find it odd to pin yourself in a corner and call BPA complete BS when in reality it is in some cases and not others. That's what makes the Rams great in team building, they adapt to the situations presented to them which could be BPA or BPA based on need.

I keep going back to the fact we just lost a HoF DT who enabled us to approach things up front in a manner where we got away without strong edge rush. So if I am in Les' shoes right now I am thinking edge is the ideal option at 19. Because that is the easiest way to add the pressures they need.

On top of that we need a DT. There is flexibility in that too, they could take a 3T or one of the other roles. Could be a nose space eater or a guy with length to play over the tackle. Might even need a couple additions (maybe both) to replace AD.

So I see this move as ensuring there is enough competition at corner to allow for an early draft defensive front rebuild. It speaks to the obvious need up front. Les talked about all this in his recent interview. Feels unavoidable to me given current roster makeup.

So barring another addition my guess is their draft plan looks like this:

:helmet: Get your Edge at 19.

:helmet: If not there look for trade down.

:helmet: Load this defensive front.

:helmet: Try to find a wideout and take advantage of this class.

:helmet: Late rounds load up RB, the ST roles and space tacklers.

Sorry a simple typo mistake was so offensive it required your mod powers be used :laugh4:

No, I don't think it's offensive...but I just want the exact name to be used. We're the best Rams site there is, with all of the news, all of the best takes, all of the smartest fans on the planet. I just figure that we should use the exact name, you know? No offense meant or taken, OS.

So, just reading between the lines, since ROD is 'the best Rams' site' with 'all the best takes' and 'the smartest fans on the planet', what you are saying is that @OldSchool has let us all down and should be banished to other and lesser forums.

Well, I can not disagree with that!

I say the Rams won't draft a CB until day 3, you say we will draft one on day 1 or 2.

Can't wait to see who is right.
Neither would surprise me.
With White being a 1 yr rental, drafting a CB early wouldn’t be the worst idea.

In that scenario, the Chargers would probably trade down to a slot that aligns with their needs.

Rams defense still could use (notice I didn’t say need to allow for roster promotions) an Edge1 (Young solid at Edge 2), FS, ILB2, DT/DE.

Woah there. DT was not a perceived need entering that draft. Not only did they have a young Brockers, but DT Kendall Langford had just completed the 2nd year of his big 4-year free agent contract and had his best season to date. They could have selected Zach Martin and then tried to trade up back for Donald instead of vice versa.

It is and always has been BPA within reason. But I agree with us not having access to the 32 different draft boards that matter. But some information does get leaked whether it's immediately or years later.

Within reason is the key here.
I agree.. if a player drops down a team's board and is, let's say, a true "tier one" prospect at a position that isn't a "need" falls.. and at positions of need there are only "tier two" prospects available.. you probably go for the value unless someone else has the same perceived value and makes you a trade offer that's excellent.

I would suggest that the Better Teams HAVE the More Talented Roster because they mostly went Best Player Available with their top draft choices. I am only talking 1st and (sometimes) 2nd round selections.

However, you seem quite passionate about this topic, so ... with one Anecdote below ... I will step-away for you to make any and all final comments.
Any more passionate than those saying BPA, BPA, BPA?

True the "better teams" have the more talented rosters because they mostly went BPA with their top draft choices....

....and their top draft choices more likely than not occurred in the lower half/third of the first round? Where going BPA is a wise move.

I'm simply saying MOST TEAMS don't have the luxury of going BPA without regard to need. A little easier to understand? Or was that gibberish too?
