Maybe my eyes deceived me (because I don't have any stats to back it up) but I thought that Rozeboom elevated his game without Reeder out there. I admittedly yelled at the TV a lot when Reeder was missing tackles, very late in coverage, and just all around looked out of place. I thought Rozeboom was doing much better in the latter part of the season. That being said, this signing looks to be an upgrade over Rozeboom and I don't believe Reeder even belongs in the conversation.

I agree but better than below-average (Reeder) is still just average.

Think Rozeboom was a clear improvement over Reeder and decent overall but just too limited physically to be any better than a marginal starting off-ball-LB.

Love to see the Rams address positions of need before the draft with the signings of Landman and Witherspoon.

You are correct. Rozeboom played off Reeder often shadowing him. Both often failing miserably. Once Rozeboom was on his own he seemed to play his own game and elevated from horrible to just below average.

I completely agree with his assessment.

Although his play improved quite a bit, I saw way too many times where he was stuffing his face into the grass after missing a tackle.

Well, with the Reeder / Rozeboom era over, and the Speights / Landshark era starting... here's hoping we can stop the bleeding in the linebacker department.
FYI this guy isn't as high on Landshark as we are:

edit: this may be a bit unfair, as I tend to think his '23 season was more indicative of what he'll do here than his '24 season.

For several years, Bret Stuter ('this guy') from Ramblin' Fan has been one of my least-favorite Rams' reporters/columnists.

Routinely throws anything and everything against the wall; and nothing usually sticks.

Kenneth Arthur, JB Scott, Venie Randy Soares and, especially, Blaine Grisak all of SB Nation / Turf Show Times are equally unreliable and useless in my opinion.

There are some good ones out there but these guys ain't among them.

No insight, no contacts and (in my opinion) not much football knowledge. They generate a ton of material, on just about every topic and possibility, with very little holding-up.

I am concerned about his pass defense but as long as he doesn't play on 3rd and long, I am okay with him as a run stuffer who gives up a pass now and then on first down. I would hope he would be taken out on second and long as well. Maybe take him out on goal line situations as well.

The Rams definitely still need a ILB who can cover backs out of the backfield on 2nd and 3rd and long.

What McVay said was that Lake deserves the credit. The more he improved with understanding the defense, the more it freed up Rozeboom and Speights to play without overthinking. Early in the season Rozeboom looked like he was wearing 30 lb ankle weights with his hesitation. Layer he was much better about reading and reacting. Several people here bagged on Lake but I doubt the coaches share the disdain. Lake had a lot in his plate and helped that defense grow.

I think they'll definitely still draft one. Probably not round one now is my guess.
Agree 100%. Reeder, rozeboom, hummel all gone. Landman only takes one roster spot. The Rams don’t want to use prime draft capital on a position they have been filling with UDFAs or late rounders. They can now take a day 3 guy to compete for a starting job and bring in a few more UDFAs to fill the preseason 90.

Are Landman or Speights green dot material? You know someone who stays on the field all the time?

If Campbell were to be there at #26, I think there is a fair chance they draft him. What would this defense look like with a 3 down dominate MLB? I'm not saying I'm in favor of it, but, there is no denying the talent he has.

One recent mock that I saw had Campbell going top ten to the Saints.

If the Rams believe he is absolutely the best MLB in this draft, they should pick him if he’s there at #26.
…unless they can say the same about another player at another position, like CB or TE.
