Was he cut or a free agent? Thinking about those picks ...

He was a FA. I'm not sure how it affects the comp picks, but he signed at less per year than any of the three guys we lost. I'm still thinking we get at least a 3rd and one 4th based on Fowler and Littleton, both of whom signed for significantly more.

Just watched some youtube highlights, wow.... just wow.
I won't link them here tho, for some reason these draft highlights guys just have to use the absolute worst music.

Is this the new norm? Overpaying for underachieving defenders while hoping the Oline gets better with the same players we had last year?

Or am I just turning into a crotchety old man?
To be fair, there was no way we were gonna overhaul our offensive line in one off-season.

Gonna be honest and say that I don't love this move. It costs us a comp pick. A'Shawn will replace Brockers and should be an effective run stuffer on the edge. He hasn't shown much as a pass rusher thus far in his career. It's more than I hoped we'd pay. Hopefully, the actual figures are better.

You don't think they will have Robinson play on the inside?

I will choose to be optimistic and say this will be a nice addition to our D line. In that case, it's better than a comp pick. Wouldn't you rather have a productive player than an opportunity to draft somebody in the third or fourth round that may or may not pan out?

If Staley is like Fangio, he typically uses short and squatty NTs. At 6'1" 315, Greg Gaines is a good fit for what he does. Robinson's a bit too long for it. But he fits well as a run-stuffing 5-Tech.
