If I'm Staff, I'm watching to see if McVay and Snead get serious about things and rearrange however necessary to acquire a couple badass olinemen. I disagree with anyone who thinks our "starters" are enough. Staff won us a SB and deserves a running game the D has to worry about every snap.

It's not that I disagree but Reid and the Chiefs had a late #1 (and a #3, #4 and #5) to trade for Orlando Brown (and a late #2); and young OTs like Brown do not come available very often.

The Chiefs were also able to afford a top free agent guard in Joe Thuney but that cost 5 years and $80M. The Rams felt they could not go to the 3 years and $26M that Austin Corbett got from Carolina. Also helping the Chiefs was Mahomes cap hits ... only $7M last year ... up to $36M this years ... and, $47M next year.

A better comparison might be Cincinnati. Despite almost winning a Super Bowl. the Bengals felt the need to re-tool their O-Line. They used a late fourth round pick, and signed three free agents (none as good as Thuney). In fact, the combined contracts of FAs Cappa, Collins and Karras was $74M which is less than Thuney's $80M.

The Bengals did re-tool the O-Line but how much it has improved is questionable. Cincinnati is 27th in rushing-yards-per-game, and has given-up the fifth most sacks in the NFL.

Only saying that it may be difficult for the Rams to make significant changes and 'completely re-tool the O-Line' this off-season. A return to health of at least some of the injured linemen will be needed.

Solid analysis. And yes, the bungles didn't get anything done. They are as bad this year as last. I put that failure on HC and front office. Should have at least been better.

Not an easy task to accomplish to be certain. And i believe the point is more to make that a priority in the off-season.

We do have some good enough talent on the O-line. A few more moves may be enough.

As for coaching, I really can't tell if we need a new direction on the O-line. McVay attracts good coaching talent and maybe a change there could benefit as well.

Stafford would really screw us if he did that. He needs to make a decision so we can structure our offseason around having him next year or not having him next year.

He will honor his contract based on his past character….but if we don’t want him in a wheelchair, we better develop a run game…I’m captain obvious I know.

I for one am not. Mrs. Stafford has been very vocal on this subject. She is completely fine with him not playing anymore. In my house that is code for do not do that.

I was thinking 50/50 on this.

I am now raising it to 70/30 we have lost Stafford to retirement based on some recent discoveries.

Spinal issues should bring it to 100/0 but I am a horrible gambler.

It is a horrible outcome based on the cost.

The team seems to attract the right talent these days. Let us hope if this is the reality we can fill that massive hole if need be.

there was a player who has a spinal cord bruise for LSU this year and he only missed 5 weeks.

some have retired from it....

the negatives are that he is already up there in age....

the positives are that it doesn't seem like it was a severe injury since they couldn't figure out what it was.

What happened this year was beyond anything anyone could have seen.
