Funny how so many fans on this board were critical of Floyd as well when he joined the Rams. This guy brings a lot to the table. I suggest you guys look at Von Miller's rookie measurements and times. I'm not saying he's the next Von Miller I'm simply using it as a point of reference about the contention that players like Young don't work out. This kid is still developing and will get better. How people can make blanket statements about Young doesn't make sense. They have a fixed mindset about what they want. This guy blew it away at the Combine, and Senior Bowl. He has the traits you want in an edge. What he lacks is polish. That is what I meant by saying that this season more than most will test McVay's staff more than usual. Given good coaching this team looks like they improved on the OL and by extension both the run and passing offense, as well as the defensive front.

Don't sleep on Turner or Avila. Avila IMO was one of the best prospects for the IOL in the draft. Turner like Young is an underrated prospect that many evaluators felt was one of the best in the draft. Only the media doesn't seem to know that yet. The Rams had to hit on all 3 day 2 prospects and they did. In doing so they gained a 4th and 5th round pick and improved their 6th round picks. That is very good drafting by any measure.

You have to be excited about the OL now.
LT Noteboom
LG Avila
C Allen
RG Bruss
RT Havenstein

Depth: Jackson OT/OG, Shelton C/OG, Thomas OG/OT

QB Stafford, (possible Clayton Tune)
RB Akers, Williams
TE Higbee, Long, Hopkins
WR Kupp, Jefferson, Atwell, Skowronek

That is this year's OL with simply subbing Jackson for Havenstein next year and maybe adding Shelton for Allen. This OL went from being a weakness to being a strength going forward. If they get Tune as their QB2 watch the fuck out. This offense will roll.

Edges Hoecht, Young, Hardy
DTs Donald, Turner
NT Brown, Murchison
CB Durant, Rochell, Kendrick
Safeties Fuller, Lake, Yeast
ILB Jones, Rozboom

They aren't even into the meat of their draft, does that look like a rollover and play dead roster? That looks like a roster ready to contend for the division title. They are now looking for PK, P, LS, ILB, C, and QB2 and have the picks to grab them. As I pointed out just 3 players could change the entire look of this roster. Avila improves both the passing and run game. Clayton Tune would give them a legit QB2. Young and Turner fill out the DL.

The Rams are going to contend this year. The FO is taking that approach in this draft.

I know what you’re saying but that’s a low bar.
What exactly are you expecting from a 3rd round pick? I mean, I'd love for him to be the steal of the draft but let's be realistic. And I don't think that's a low bar at all. What exactly do you think Ebukam was, dude was a solid backup that was a good run defender and provided a steadily increased amount of sacks over time. Hey, I hope he's better but a guy that raw turning into the production of Ebukam over the years he was with us is what eventually builds a playoff team.

I stopped reading when you had Noteboom as the starting OLT and Aleric Jackson not starting anywhere.

And why do you act like so many people are critical of the picks? Most of what I've read is people here are happy with the picks.

I'm stoked for Byron Young, would still love for us grab KJ Henry from Clemson and double down on EDGE this year

Before this draft I was hoping to get someone similar to Obo... and Young fits the bill. He's an explosive pass rusher.. raw, but might be able to do some damage.

Nah. He's not explosive. In addition to that unimpressive 4.43 40, he only jumped 38 inches in the vert and 11 feet in the broad. Terrible athlete.
Especially the dude should have never went to school & play football. Should have kept working his day job.
Thanks Covid

Somebody's sarcasm detector needs to go into the shop for repairs.

Seriously, I love this pick. You can't coach 4.4 speed. And you can't coach hunger either. This guy has both and will almost certainly work like a mutha to get good. Sure there will be some rookie growing pains, but I like his chances of being a contributor early and panning out overall.

Ram fan Vol fan.. Young is smooth and has great burst.. got after the Qb in the SEC and expect the same at the next level. Leonard Little maybe not but still a solid pick.
I was thinking of Leonard Little when I saw him. I hope he can be the guy, like Little, who coach can tell, "We need a sack right now."

Then he does it.

If you pay me RoD dolla I will lie long time and say you have been campaigning for Avila in personal conversations.

Sorry that the Rams didn't pick a sure fire hall of fame player with the *checks notes* 77th overall pick.

Of course he's fucking raw.

He's also a fucking Ram. Let's fucking go Byron.

My apologies, Scots. Byron Young's still a great pick; I just wanted Tucker Kraft, who got taken a pick later. I meant no offense, and I hope he becomes a great player for us.

.

fantastic highlight reel.

nobody expects him to do that every play. if he can do it when the rams need it that's all that matters.

Lightweight end?

I believe the plan is to play him as a 3-4 EDGE, which means he's really an OLB, not a DE. He's basically the same size as Von Miller.
I don't get how 250 lbs is a light 3-4 Edge either it's crazy to me. He's 10 lbs heavier than Leonard Floyd and nobody had an issue with him haha
