Lol not the type of rb u payFacts are facts. He’s a top 10 NFL RB until proven otherwise….mic drop!!
He drafts wr like that for the most part he doesn’t look for speed or athletic types he has his types one of my biggest gripesYeah the evidence does appear to bear this out. I do wonder if McVay would even be interested in pulling the trigger on a RB high in the draft who brings elite size, speed and skills.
I feel like he looks at WR’s and even TE’s with a different lense in terms of draft priority.
He’s drafting and bringing in RB’s often, but they all seem to be the same guy, relatively.
If kyren was faster we would have went to nfc championship game… dude isn’t a franchise rb and rams would be wise not to extend himWhat attributes can a RB possess that would make him better than what we have in Kyren? Ball security and explosiveness?
Ball security.
A dozen RBs had 250 or more carries and of course, Kyren led them all with 5 fumbles (3 lost). Jacobs had 4 (3 lost) and Henry, Taylor and Aaron Jones had 3. Yeah we know he needs to improve in that area.
Explosiveness.
Four RBs had double digit 20 yard runs or better. Henry (19), Barkley (17), Gibbs (13) and Taylor (11). Kyren had 2.
Clearly, Kyren is lacking in those two areas. The ball security can be corrected but explosiveness is a physical trait. So what does he do better than the rest?
First downs (moving the chains).
#1 Henry 94; #2 Kyren 85; #3 Barkley, Bijan 82; #5 Jacobs 73
Touchdowns
#1 Henry, Cooks, Gibbs 16; #4 Jacobs 15; #5 Kyren, Bijan 14
Carries (Health)
#1 Barkley 345; #2 Henry 325; #3 Kyren 316; #4 Bijan 304; #5 Taylor303, #6 Jacobs 301
*Short yardage success; 1st down conversions on: (3rd and 1 to 3 yds); (4th and 1 to 3 yds)
#1 Kyren 83.8% (24 - 20; 7 - 6)
#2 Gibbs 78.6% (10 - 8; 4 - 3)
#3 Henry 75% (20 - 15; 4 - 3)
#4 Hubbard 70% ( 15 - 11; 5 -3)
#5 Bijan 68% (18- 12; 7 - 5)
#6 Taylor 62.5% (26 - 16; 6 - 4)
#7Jacobs 60% (17 - 11; 3 - 1)
#8 Swift 55.5% ( 6 - 4; 3 - 1)
#9 Barkley 55% (19 - 11; 1 - 0)#
#10 Harris 54.5% (8 - 4; 3 - 2)
#11 Pollard 53.3% (13 - 7; 2 - 1)
#12 A. Jones 44.4% (9 - 4; 0 - 0)
*RBs with 250+ total carries
#The Tush Push obviously robbed Barkley of attempts on 4th down.
Who wouldn't love a RB who can get tough yards, first downs, bust big plays, catch passes, score touchdowns, pass protect and rarely fumble? How many complete backs like that exist in the NFL?
In the end, this is how it will probably be settled.I'm making a guess that Kyren will not be extended due to others of more importance coming up for new contracts.
A lot of 'ifs' from that game.If kyren was faster we would have went to nfc championship game… dude isn’t a franchise rb and rams would be wise not to extend him
My point is the rams need to move onA lot of 'ifs' from that game.
If Limmer doesn't turn the wrong way and actually blocks his guy, we go to the NFC Championship game.
If our D stops one of the 44y, 62y or 78y TD runs, we go to the NFC Championship game.
On the 'franchise' RB idea, hasn't most of the league been moving off that approach in favor of multiple backs? A person could count all the 'franchise' RBs in the NFL on one hand even without using a thumb.
TWO hands in the bush?A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush
So they should release him?My point is the rams need to move on
And that's an opinion shared by some. We'll see what the Rams opinion happens to be.My point is the rams need to move on
And our excellent starting running back is trying to, "touch his peak".A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush
Every RB in the NFL gets paid. It’s just a matter of how much. He’s not elite but a legitimate starter. Like I’ve said before , he’s the Rams starter until someone beats him out.L
Lol not the type of rb u pay
Finally looked up info on Love. He never injured his ACL. He tweakes his knee before the college playoffs but was able to play. If be stays healthy, he's getting drafted in the 1st round.Yes, his absence was glaringly noticeable
Love looks great but didn’t he have an ACL?
How many RBs in the league have breakaway speed like that and where do they get drafted?![]()
Kyren Williams ranks last among RBs in this new rushing metric
A new metric measures how often a RB forces missed tackles and creates big plays, which doesn't reflect well on Kyren Williamssports.yahoo.com
Another article pointing out what most Ram fans see - Kyren is tough, a gamer, a good teammate, great attitude, racks up numbers due to number of opportunities (meaning he shows up and plays/toughness), but lacks elite athleticism and/or break away ability.
Why is this a problem?
Because it means we "leave yards on the field" / meaning the offense could be better with a more explosive RB.
Example - if the OL blocks a play well and Kyren gets to the 2nd level but gets caught from behind by a LB or safety, we have "left yards on the field".
I would like for the Rams to keep Kyren at a fair team friendly deal, but not if he wants top RB money.
Here's an "easy" 2nd guessing the Ram (and every other team) front office question:
Why didn't they sign Derrick Henry? Did they even think about it?
He signed for 2 years/16 mil with Baltimore and of course was unbelievable in his production.
We signed Jonah Jackson for 3 years/51 mil? . . . and Colby Parkinson for 3 years / 23 mil - so the Rams had the money to sign Henry.
Basically for the money they gave Parkinson, they could have signed Henry.
Can you imagine what the offense would look like with Henry at RB?
