Definitely part of it.

But, they're also seeing too many injuries.. and, in my opinion, made one HUGE error in the offseason... They should've bitten the bullet and given Miller the extra year.
Wagner's fine.. but ILB's, IMO, aren't nearly as important as pass rushers.. AND.. the Rams had at least one solid ILB to build around in Jones.
It was a bad, bad move.

• Jared Goff stats (past eight games): 64% completion, 2,091 yards, 20 TD, 5 INT, 101.5 QB rating

i'm pretty sure it doesn't include stafford's fabulous post season tour de force. just regular season games.

but it tells a story none the less.

I think Greg's PFF is greatly affected by the soft zones that Morris has done this year.

If you notice, Greg's play improved dramatically in the later half of the year when Morris instigated a much more aggressive defense.

Greg needs to win his matchups regardless of the call behind him. When he gets doubled he's always really good at anchoring in. The problem is he's not succeeding when he's singled up and trying to win his gap. We need more of that from the DL, especially when AD is being doubled.

They played plenty of soft zone in the Cards game… Gaines was VERY effective.
He was playing on a line with a healthier Floyd and Von fucking Miller.

I will have to look at that playoff game again because I could swear that we played more aggressive in that game but I am going completely off of memory after watching that game only once.

Or, we could all just realize we have a shit-ton of injuries. The next man up philosophy is great and all, but certain guys are starters for a reason, and other guys are backups and practice squad guys for a reason. I think most fans understand that if you are starting a 3rd string Center, and 4th and 5th string guards, your Offense is going to look like shit. For the fans that don't understand that, I don't know what to tell them, other than they should watch more football. LOL

We are currently 2-2 (Like everyone in the division), and if we can get healthy, we can be a very good team. None of this stuff we are seeing is un-fixable. Like I keep saying, we make the playoffs and get hot, who knows. And if not, we still won the SB last year, and didn't repeat, like the last 20 or so teams that won it. I don't think most of us saw the Rams winning the Super Bowl after going winless in November last year.

No however there is such a thing as a SB hangover. Tons of teams come in the next year looking rusty or not hungry. And tbh that's what I'm seeing from the Rams. Jmo

Agree. I do not live in the past I try to learn from it. I am a Ram fan who is constantly looking forward to the future.

I love to see Snead work hard for the Ram's destiny to place this team in the best position to compete now & in the future not talk about what took place last season.

I think Coleman Shelton's low grade is dramatically affected by being made to play center. He is much much better at guard.

Shelton has had a rough regular season thus far.

First, he was the starting RG until Brian Allen was injured again. So he moved into the center post. Then Tremayne Anchrum was inserted into his old post & quickly got injured & placed on the IR. Then the Rams were forced to insert their top reserve OT into the RG post.

Playing OC with David Edwards & new guy Alaric Jackson would take some time to jell. Then Edwards came up with a Brain Fog & Shelton had to play next to Bobby Evans @ LG. Just saying that causes my stomach to get sick. Then while dealing with Bobby Evans/Alaric Jackson he badly injured his lower leg & will be out for the next month or even much longer.

I not trying to smooth over or ignore Shelton 4 game performances but I will not dish any crap on him & I still believe he is a good interior OL who the Rams are lucky to have. Or did have?

I bet you that LT Noteboom was not looking forward to the 9ers game having to pair up with LG Bobby Evans.

I just wished they learned to invest heavily in the oline already. This offense can't be stopped with a top tier oline.

Regular season. Second game… COVID game.

We have to be really strong in position groups to compensate for the groups we aren't as strong.

If we have a great pass rush we don't necessarily have to have an elite secondary or MLB.

If we have a strong O Line we can get by with avg RB's


Our immediate problem is injuries, our longer term issue
Will be edge on D and on Offense likely O line.

The set of RB's we have we can win with we can also win with the rostered receivers if they get and stay healthy.

I already stated a billion times in other threads that Goff is deadly with a very good OL and he has one at Detroit. Doesn't surprise me.

On the Rams with their OL, he would be doing much worse than Stafford.

And this is coming from a Goff supporter.

Absolutely agree from another major Goff supporter. They have an exceptional OL in Detroit 3 stars Center and both Tackles. But in this mess we have he would flounder worse than Stafford.

What does amaze me is why McVay hasn't been able to beat those stupid ints out of Stafford. Last year I get it this year I don't.

I think someone will free up at the trade deadline that will cost us considerably less than Von without a massive drop off from Von but yes we need OLB help not to help with the run game as much as Von needed to but a pure pass rusher.
