So, if someone gets a multi-year contract, then is injured and misses a year, or more - who pays for the inury time? Is that some sort of insurance pool, or the club is out the dough, just as if that person were an active player?
I guess somewhere in there, is the distintion of bonus payments, versus "regular" payments that one would get for being on the roster???
I could explain how this worked in my career.... but we are swiming in different pools here...
This is perfectly said I love obj want him back even if it means for next year but at this point this season right now has my head spinning already. The Rams are known for pulling rabbits out of a hat but this may be a big ask. Stranger things have happened but right now as fan I'm in as much disarray as they are and I'm sure many of you are as well. Even to hear about AD and Coop and that they will play but minor injury it just seems like the deck is stacked so bad against us. Time will tell but I feel the same way as you do.Considering all the OL issues, VJ coming back, questionable we even make the playoffs and even more questionable what OBJ looks like this year when he returns (not to mention LT) - this seems like one of those times where we might be better simply losing out on the player.
The chances he returns this year and is still elite and stays healthy LT and we make the playoffs with him greatly contributing…..idk man. Seems like better risks to take elsewhere. Unless he brings down his $$ ask ALOT.
Apparently, he is looking for a contract like Gallup's. Here's what Gallup got (there's a LOT of guaranteed money)

Something to said for this. Woods was dropped because my guess his injury so if you apply the same logic to OBJ it does make sense.Considering all the OL issues, VJ coming back, questionable we even make the playoffs and even more questionable what OBJ looks like this year when he returns (not to mention LT) - this seems like one of those times where we might be better simply losing out on the player.

this is where I stand alsoSo now that the Rams are 2-3…OBJ speaks out about “I’m not sure about LA blah blah…”
Lol okay.
What’s next? “OBJ wants to return to the 4-1 Giants holla!”
[huge eye roll]
And I don't blame him.this is where I stand also
you know OBJ is just going to sign with the contender that offers him the most money...its his style
So prospective for OBJ:$23M
So prospective for OBJ:
5 years $53m. $29m guaranteed. 2022 $5m salary plus incentives.
I thought the same as I would assume he is seeking more than $10M average.Which is basically as little as a 3 year guaranteed contract. Seems doable.

We just don’t have much cap to work with and it sure seems like we will lose out. Then again… the Rams often surprise me with their creativity.
Also… OBJ is elite. I think we are downplaying that a little with our let him walk talk. Teams must account for OBJ, just like Kupp. Nobody else on our team right now has shown that consistently.
However, the biggest questions in any offer to OBJ are; Is he still the same player? What is the overall health of both knees? Both legit questions and reason to think twice on anything multiyear.
Sounds like an excellent Tik Tok topic...I fucking hate social media.
