That’s the scenario I was referring to. Be curious if PHI let Lampkin take a spot on the 53. They know OL better than any other NFL team.

My guess is that Roseman likes Lampkin. The Eagles don't have to bring him off the IL. They can leave him there all season and basically just red-shirt him for 2025, unless they have injuries to their interior O-Line, in which case he would be needed for the 53.

And that dead horse is going to come back again and again until we get a very good center lol

I am still upset that we took that TE instead of Biadesz
You’re preaching to the choir. I have been looking at the top Centers in every draft for at least the last 10-15 years. I’m not talking about spending a 1rst rounder, mind you, just a guy you feel confident can come in and anchor the OL well enough to deserve a second contract. Someone the Rams would probably be in a position to draft.

Zach Frazier comes to mind. The Steelers grabbed him, though.
He has started since day one. I have every reason to believe he is gonna anchor that line for awhile. Just think of the Centers who have played for the steelers, going all the way back to Mike Webster in the ‘70s.

The Steelers tend to prioritize the position. Apparently, the Rams not so much.

Dedich is basically Lampkin turned up to 10. Happy to have him and see him develop. He has started games at center too and curious if he eventually develops there. Was really impressed with what he showed in NFL games last season as a backup on the smaller side.

One could argue that you can't just develop a couple guys who's minus trait is size and you have to make a choice though I don't think it was an A/B choice here, just not necessary to keep Lampkin on 53 and totally fine to expose him in cuts when you have Dedich in the fold.

I loved what Dedich brought to the table last year. We’re talking about going from undrafted to playing in meaningful games that saved the season. He was NOT the weak link. I have to admit, I was a bit surprised he did NOT go in when either guard went down.

It’s way better than it used to be though. I think 2022 turned some lights on. Plus I think they’re more cognizant of protecting Stafford, giving him a running game, and time. But yeah it’s still a little more anemic than I’d like.

We started out with:
A-Jax - Avila - Shelton - Dotson - Havs
Not bad at all!
But.... who's the weak link here?
What position has been the weak link on our OL, year in & year out??
I'm glad Limmer is still here, I hope he gets better on pass blocking, but my goodness... we HAVE to invest in the OC position some day, or Staff will always have to struggle with pressure right up the middle.
And what happens when we draft a new rookie QB in '26?? is HE going to make the line calls? Shelton the "vet" can make line calls, but he's still the weak link on the OL.
...anyone know any stud OC's available as a F/A in '26? they'd have to be a priority at this point.

...oh wait, here's hoping Avila & Dotson, our stud OG's get healed up & don't aggravate these ankles this week :\
I would add Avila to the weak link list.
He was bad most of last year, particularly in pass pro. He gave up a couple of pressures before he was taken out of the game.
Its another reason I would sit him until he is 100% with his ankle.
I want to see if he can really sustain a high level of play, because, its been awhile.
Searching for a Center, yes, I agree.....I think LG is not far behind, at least for the time being.
Avila certainly has the athleticism to turn it around and dominate and I certainly hope he does.

He wasn't dressed for the game.

It was obvious to me very quickly that Dedich was a big step up from the other guys they tried to roll into G depth last year due to injuries. He looked good in preseason again this year, as did Bowles.
I was early on the Dedich train and I think he has a long term role on the Rams roster.

Watching Jackson with the Bears last night, Dedich is already quite a bit better than him.
Better balance, better feet, adjusts on the move and recovers better, understands and uses leverage and seems more powerful.
