We started out with:
A-Jax - Avila - Shelton - Dotson - Havs
Not bad at all!
But.... who's the weak link here?
What position has been the weak link on our OL, year in & year out??
I'm glad Limmer is still here, I hope he gets better on pass blocking, but my goodness... we HAVE to invest in the OC position some day, or Staff will always have to struggle with pressure right up the middle.
And what happens when we draft a new rookie QB in '26?? is HE going to make the line calls? Shelton the "vet" can make line calls, but he's still the weak link on the OL.
...anyone know any stud OC's available as a F/A in '26? they'd have to be a priority at this point.

...oh wait, here's hoping Avila & Dotson, our stud OG's get healed up & don't aggravate these ankles this week :\

Jesting aside, I watched the OL play closely during the game and when Limmer came in he did well at both guard positions. I also watched Shelton closely. He got stood up on the QB sneak play and it was the reason it didn;t work. He also got stood up several times.

JMHO Limmer is a better player. Of course the trade off is Shelton is better at line calls Just wondering how long that will last. Anyone notice who the first guy off the bench or the OL was? If either Avila or Dotson can't go next Sunday, I'm guessing Limmer will start in their place.

I don't understand the grief Limmer gets. He was asked to fill in at the last minute last season and played his ass off. Yeah he missed a block in the playoffs and took a lot of shit and didn't say a word at his demotion. I saw him work hard in TC. they guy is a player. I think he will be a starter sooner than later at either G or C.
Well his pass blocking wasn't good and we need to keep Stafford upright so I get why he catches grief. At least he's nowhere near the "Reeder" grief hahaha

And that’s why he was a 6th round pick. It’s not likely to find a Puka in every draft. Some people seem to think that every player the Rams draft is going to be a stud now. Here’s the difference - For a sixth round pick, Limmer played very well. For a fifth round pick Puka plays like a top ten pick. Limmer is one dimensional. He's got a long ways to go to reach the level of adoration that some fans give him.
Totally.

I think he's got limitations for sure, I also think people were fair to hope that he took a step this offseason but even back in OTA's it was sounding like he wasn't doing it. I think the chances of him taking a step this season are small, a little bigger with another offseason but he may just end up being a very solid backup for us and that's no small thing.

I think it's funny that people think because someone looked good in one game, for snaps against mainly backups, in preseason, means they're ready to compete in an actual NFL game.
I did say mini uproar while laughing didn't I? Apparently he did good enough for the Eagles to snap him up though so there's that too. Can't blame the guy for performing well during his only opportunities and for fans to be excited with that. Tell me, when did he get the opportunity to play against starters? Just saying it would be nice to have someone young to develop that has potential. Never said anything about him being a starter either by the way.

So we're all in agreement then.

We should have picked up Creed Humphreys instead of one target Tutu Atwell. :)

And maybe not as a Center.
But the dude is a gamer.
Every chance he's been given he has exceeded expectations and upgraded his game to meet the challenge.
He transferred from the Sun Belt conference and upgraded to ACC where he was the highest rated lineman in the NCAA Division 1.
Then he dominated in the Senior Bowl and we didn't even have to spend a draft pick on him.

I was excited to see what he was going to do here and I will not be surprised that we'll hear from him again.

Not worried about losing Lampkin. Dedich played excellent in preseason and Wyatt Bowles showed plenty of upside at Guard. I try not to get upset over losing unproven commodities.
Dedich is basically Lampkin turned up to 10. Happy to have him and see him develop. He has started games at center too and curious if he eventually develops there. Was really impressed with what he showed in NFL games last season as a backup on the smaller side.

One could argue that you can't just develop a couple guys who's minus trait is size and you have to make a choice though I don't think it was an A/B choice here, just not necessary to keep Lampkin on 53 and totally fine to expose him in cuts when you have Dedich in the fold.

Time to draft a stud Center. :)
I am thinking that we use our 2nd rounder.
