Nothing Cleveland is reputable.

Rams have tweeted out any hire fire or signing on their own twitter for forever. Nothing from them our guy with the Athletic, the local guys and gals or even Jourdan and Schrager. I'm not saying this happened I'm saying I haven't seen anything from somebody I trust yet.

And again this guy was good before Cleveland that counts for a lot.
Aaron Wilson typically posts a lot of information before the big names.
But here you go.

Can we really fault any Browns coach for a poor performance when the Browns have been hapless in attracting and drafting high end talent for years?

Yeah, that's got to be factored into the evaluation. Baker Mayfield was a bust in CLE, now he's a quality QB on another team. There are other examples like that throughout the league, guys being shit at one franchise that is always absolute shit, but doing well with other franchises that are not absolute shit.

The fact that McVay recognizes the problem and moved quickly gives me some re-assurance.

Their HC - fired and pretty much immediately got a new HC job (with others wanting him too). Says a lot about that organization

Kind of a middling hire IMO. He's had some good units, and even a few great ones, but also some bad ones. I don't like his bad ones being the most recently. But can you judge anything coming out of the Browns organization? Look at Darnold since leaving crappy franchises. Look at Stafford since leaving Detroit. Where you land matters. I do like he has many years as a Patriot under Bill Belichick. You don't last long on his special team units if you aren't good. Kind of a "wait and see" hire for me.

Unlike in many other aspects of the team, when it comes to special teams, this front office has done nothing to warrant trust or the benefit of the doubt. Hard to blame those that are skeptical.

ST coaches are hard to hire as I believe teams can block lateral moves. You almost need to wait until a new coach is hired elsewhere and wants to bring in his own guys for a ST Coach to shake loose. Curious why the Rams didn't scour the college football ranks and offer a promotion to the NFL.

A ridiculous and indefensible take.

Throwing darts at a dart board? Whatever

So tired of the keyboard warriors on this site who imply, "McVay is an idiot and I know better"

I don’t care who we hired. Add a true return weapon and some coverage assassins and this unit will at the very least become a zero sum.

It’s been nothing but coverage mistakes, execution failures and nothing burgers returning kicks and punts. ST’s has been a negative sum for awhile now. A true negative.

Step one: Just put a real returner back there.

Browns fans are universally thrilled he’s gone. I guess because it’s the Browns we can take it with a grain of salt but I would’ve liked to see us get someone with a better track record (recently any way).

Cleveland Browns = NY Jets.
For now, I'm disregarding his Cleveland experience.

I like this guy's content. Very reasoned presentation unlike some guys that go for a sensational approach and offer a lot of click bait.

So Blackburn and Ventrone have contrasting situations.

When Blackburn came to the Horns, he began with little ST talent, and we sucked. Sean did not panic after the season. He recognized Blackburn's lack of ST talent, and he helped secure some of the talent in the next draft/FA period. Blackburn's teams continued to suck.

With Ventrone, when he actually has ST talent, he produced NFL Top Five ST units. Then he went to the Browns, who are mostly devoid of talent on most units, and his ST units took a downturn.

I rather ride with Sean & Bubba for the 2026 season. I bet Sean goes out of his way to get Les to supply Bubba with the tools he requires to succeed. :fistbump1:

Like with the defense, how much can a coach teach guys how to tackle? How much can he teach a guy how to kick if he was never a kicker? Special teams is like the other units. You gotta have the Jim's and Joe's to execute your X's and O's. Special teams were not the only unit that cost us games. Our defense allowed Sam Freakin Darnold to throw for 346 yards, 3 TD's and 31 points in the biggest game of the year. He looks like an All Pro against our defense.
