True. But last year the Rams sent a scout to PSU and it was publicized. Then they sent one to FSU and it wasn’t. So wtf knows.
There are dozens of people who know about these trips. The player's camp, school personnel, etc.

Many times I hear of anonymous sources connected to the school saying such and such teams inquired about a certain player. It's probably mostly chance on what info gets out.

I dunno.
I'm thinking that the apparent TE interest being shown may be a smokescreen too. I'd settle for a Terrance Ferguson in the 3rd, and take either a CB, or an LB with #26.
Did I mention (again :startstruck:) that I'm a Ducks homer?

I was thinking the same thing when rumors are out there that McVay likes Kyle McCord that he really has his eye on someone else
I suspect the rumors are true and that he loves McCord. Why wouldn't he. But he probably also likes Shough a lot too. Dart as well. These guys have to be attractive to him given what he's been through with Stafford.

Also he can go get two weapons in round 3 even if he were to take a QB at 26 or after a slight move down. Both TE and WR look strong in that range. This is why I think QB is in play with any of our picks, to include the early ones.

I really like Dart and have for a long time now. But Shough is a tall and smooth thrower who's been through a ton in college and has a serious and intelligent personality in interviews. I would be fine with him. I would be fine with McVay taking McCord at 26 too. People want to act all pious about where dudes should go off the board because they have seen a handful of media types putting those players in those ranges, but few of these actually stack their own board while also watching actual tape on every prospect. If Shough or McCord hit at QB there ain't nobody gonna be complaining about the Rams taking them at 26.

As it pertains to QBs I trust McVay. No doubt on that one. But they're still a dice roll just look at Bennett. I will never, however, give them shit for taking a shot on the most important position on that roster in the draft. If you think the dude has a chance to be a starter at this level take him wherever you want.

McCord's 12 interceptions are a bit of a red flag but he had a ton of passing attempts compared to most QB's. Ive read his arm strength isn't great but I haven't watched him much and if McVay likes him like you said I trust him

I'm not sure what his role would be, already having signed Ford.
First down DT... he has pass rush skills as well. However he could take first down snaps from Fiske. Fiske focues on pass situations while also spelling Turner at times.

He would give us a deep rotation and Grant also backs up Ford, and maybe takes some of his 3rd and long snaps.

Plus, there are depth questions up front right now. They did lose Brown, Gallimore, and Hoecht, and only added Ford.

Turner, Murchison,
Ford, Grant, Davis
Grant, Fiske

Sure, given some parameters. Bennett never struck me nor most others as an NFL QB. Hopefully if they choose one the guy has serious starter potential. Otherwise they might as well sign the next John Wolford as a UDFA.

Maybe Loveland, but I’d say Arroyo is closer to Bowers based on speed
None are similar to Bowers.
I would second Arroyo as the closest to Bowers. But Bowers was a unique combo of big program, production, polish, and athletic ability.

Arroyo certainly has a similar suddenness to him in the pattern, you can see his raw talent no doubt. If McVay were to get his hands on him boy howdy. I just don't like that knee injury history. Been leery of that shit since Gurley.
Fannin is more akin to Bowers than Arroyo. But Bowers was a unicorn. This is a great TE class. They all have their individual merits. None are Bowers, though. Still, plenty of great options.

McCord has more than enough arm. I think the QB part that's the most important after athletic traits is what is between the ears. It's the hardest part to gauge in the potential for growth which is why the QB position is so hard to forecast.

We're not desperate. There's no reason to force a QB pick at #26.

Totally agree. Anyone saying any TE in this class is close to Bowers is smoking some good shit lol. Bowers is a generational talent at TE.

Agreed. He seemed cut out for QB2 assuming they hit on him. Of course given that McVay got Cousins playing well enough to win with in Washington, it's hard to say that he couldn't have done something with Bennett had he been mentally all-in from day one. But we definitely missed something with him, or didn't flag it with sufficient concern.

To start with, being 5’-11” and 190 lbs without being some sort of an athletic freak is a problem for most QBs. If he had great scrambling ability or mastery of the broken play maybe, but he didn’t. He isn’t peak Russ.

No, but if someone was trying to guess which tight end the Rams may like, then they’d try to figure which one is the most similar to Bowers.

So list 15 tight ends and pick which is most similar, not an exact copy. You say Fanin. I say Arroyo.

There’s no way one of those guys gets drafted at 26
I don't think it's likely. But I won't be one of the people lighting shit on fire round here if the Rams do take one of them.

You never know. The Rams signed jonah jackson and he eventually lost his job to Limmer. Now jackson is gone.

Once upon a time the Rams’ best/only good unit was their DL. They took Aaron Donald anyway.

I'm never opposed to more trenches. I don't think we have many glaring needs that fit the first round.

I understand the Jonah Jackson signing given they were going to move Avila to center. This draft is a complete mystery for sure.

Snead claims they won't reach for a QB. But, if they think one could succeed as a starter is taking him at 26 a reach? For any other position outside of QB, yes. For a QB no, especially with no second round picks.
