Good stuff. The kid ran a clean operation and had some nice throws. At 38, I think this is the play that McVay was talking about, looks like he didn't go through his progressions - maybe went 1 to 5 and skipped the in between - and just hit is last one with Klare (also a nice throw that not everyone can make). Not the end of the world. Just needs to get the reps.

That would be a real CRAPPY reason, IMHO. Connors better make this team.....

Those sort of measurable comparisons don't mean much.
McCutchen was Mike Evans 2.0 during preseason.....we all remember how that worked out.
Time will tell.
Totally fair to point out.

But I thought Connors looked decisive and caught the ball well.

Again.. bigger and more explosive than Hunter and Rivers. He’d be my 4th at the moment.
I agree.
Connors looked good. Good balance, broke tackles etc.
Hunter is faster certainly, but, again, thats just a measurable.
Rivers is interesting to me.
He is not as explosive as either one, but, he has McVays trust.
He isn't great at anything but solid at everything and if you need a fill for a couple of games, Im sure McVay would feel totally comfortable starting Rivers and not having to change his game plan.
I am pulling for Connors and would like to see him and Hunter get some return opps this preseason.

No way. McCutcheon was nowhere close to that. If we cut Connors we will regret it. He'll go to an NFC team and hurt us, mark my words.
He might.
One preseason game is too early to say anything.
That last RB spot comes down to Hunter, Connors and Waters (I think thats his name).
So, two of those guys likely headed to the practice squad.
I would imagine both Connors and Hunter and likely to get snatched up from the PS.

The comps do mean something.. we’ll disagree there.

And.. is Hunter faster? Same 50. Connor’s scored better in explosive testing.. and, tape shows someone who is much better at changing direction and I have no idea if Hunter can catch the ball.

Same on wanting to see him on kick returns.

I'd have to look at the seam to the TE.
I think besides the throws is the composure and the ability with his legs to keep the play alive, t

If either of you guys watch some replays, take a look at a 3rd and 13 play with 2:08 to go in the 3rd quarter.

Simpson does a nice job avoiding a rush up-the-middle, scrambles to his righ; and, with a DL coming-on, delievers a really nice pass to Connors at the sideline. It was 5-7 yards short of a first down but the ball traveled over twenty yards, and there were two defenders close to Connors. It was a very nice throw.

If you guys choose not to find the play, or don't care to look for it ...

I'm not necessarily keeping Rivers as a lock in this RB room. Kyren and Corum are guaranteed. 2 spots left for Rivers, Hunter, Connors, Waters. If it ends up Connors and Waters, so be it.

I WANT Connors on this 53, no overthinking and fucking around. Don't want to see him snatched up by Seattle or San Francisco. Kid's a player......

Connor getting snaps on ST makes sure there is absolutely a lane for him to take a spot on the roster but lets see how the rest of camp and preseason play out.

Biggest differentiator I see between him and Hunter... Connors is a very high-level receiver out of the backfield.

Digging into more of his college stuff.. I'm liking it. With Hunter's.. I saw a lot of big holes, not a ton from him.

Totally agree. Connors just jumps out. He's a "bruiser." We need this type of back to compliment our top 2, IMHO.

I think Jimmy G is history just as a matter of money.
I am thinking that Garoppolo wants to play and start if possible. I'm with the group think that he's waiting for a starter to go down and he's going to step in and try to pull a Mayfield.
Somebody starter is going to get injured this year and they're going to want somebody with Garoppolo's talent to step in. Then he will sign with that team. Of course, I have no inside information, that's just my opinion.

I agree. Isn't it funny.......the Rams have such a talented squad, the comments were, "it's going to be difficult for rookies to make the 53" and then somebody like Connors comes along. Suddenly, a couple of guys targeted for the 53 get a little anxious. Again, just 1 game, mind you.

Prior to the game, logical thinking might have suggested Ty Simpson wasn't going to prove himself or disprove himself in his first game of NFL football. But we have to be encouraged by his performance. Hell, everybody was doing cartwheels when Carson Beck went 15 of 19 for 188 yards and a TD in the HOF game. I'm not suggesting we do the same for Simpson but he was every bit as good, if not better than Beck, and that's a helluva lot better outlook than if he had gone 10 of 20 for 88 yards and a pick or two.

As Dennis Green said, "you want to crown their ass, then crown their ass". I think we need to see a lot more to know either way.
Guys like Beck are closer to the top of their team’s QB mountain. They NEED him to be challenging asap.

The Rams need only see Simpson steadily improve. Barring injuries, no way he will be relied upon to come in and play.

I will bet you a bag of donuts not.
Only because Hunter was drafted.....

I could be wrong but agree that Hunter sticks over Connor. However, I don't think it's only because he was drafted.

It would be because they've seen more from him and trust him more. This may be an unpopular opinion, but we overrate the importance of preseason games. The coaches see every practice and that has more significance than preseason games.
