He suffered a devastating injury in '24 that took over a season to healLet's hope he stays healthy.
I don't know, Allen playing all the snaps of 13 personnel, I think he's your starting move TE and a much more capable blocker than Fergy or Klare (maybe Fergy keeps improving). I think you keep him for a year in this superbowl window and that's more valuable than the 6th.If Vilari or the other UDFA TE show out, I could see them moving Davis Allen. Kind of like when they moved that white WR to the Texans for a 7th. His name escapes me. I think Allen has more value than that guy. Maybe you can get a 6th?
If he's worth a 4th rounder (I doubt it), I'd move him today. Think we will be fine without him.I don't know, Allen playing all the snaps of 13 personnel, I think he's your starting move TE and a much more capable blocker than Fergy or Klare (maybe Fergy keeps improving). I do think if you wanted to trade him you might be surprised at how high a pick you could get (I would not be shocked if it's something closer to a future 4th rounder in total value) cause of how important what he does is to the league right now.
Should have said future fourth meaning 2028 so a 5th ish next year but if 13 personnel is a load bearing wall on a team who's top targets are a bit fragile, I'm in no way trading the dude especially when he'll get a contract next year which will most likely net us a good comp pick.If he's worth a 4th rounder (I doubt it), I'd move him today. I'm not in a hurry to see Allen replaced or anything, as he's solid young depth in that room. But he's gonna feel some heat this year in camp. I am guessing they want to reduce Adams snaps. They can do that with 13 personnel and hopefully Mumpfield, Whittington, and maybe Daniels can step into the WR2 role at times. If Klare is good enough to own that slot role then he'll undoubtedly get a ton of work as a rook. Also it comes down to who is the best pass game option after Nacua/Adams. Because Nacua can function fine in that Z role, and Adams out wide at X.
And it is possible the Rams desire someone stepping up in the slot to keep Nacua healthy. They may want to limit the hits he takes over the middle to keep him fresh for the playoffs. But the player still has to do that. Someone would need to step up and in to that role.
My guess is they allow Klare to compete with Ferg for that role in camp. And I think that's probably the biggest competition on the team in terms of impact. Assuming that role is up for grabs. It may not be. They may want Nacua there. But I think their draft approach speaks to them wanting a slot to emerge.
Probably true as well. He's also a weapon it will be important to have healthy for the playoff run.I am guessing they want to reduce Adams snaps.
I have seen several U Tube videos about Ferguson and how much effort he puts into his blocking. Never thought of him as a bad blocker.I don't know, Allen playing all the snaps of 13 personnel, I think he's your starting move TE and a much more capable blocker than Fergy or Klare (maybe Fergy keeps improving). Yeah, that is what I meant. They want him healthy for a post season run and just generally full speed all season. He will be a redzone specialist along with what he provides overall when in 11 or 12 personnel.Probably true as well. He's also a weapon it will be important to have healthy for the playoff run.
He was a bad blocker at the beginning of the year and improved quite a bit. I suspect those videos were some that I and other posters shared about how much his blocking has improved.I have seen several U Tube videos about Ferguson and how much effort he puts into his blocking. The kid is going to tear it up in 26 IMO.
The criticism in his blocking goes back to his Oregon days, where he was hit and miss at times. But the effort was always there and I think that's a big indicator. His rook season with us I had no complaints with his blocking. This is why I presume he'll end up replacing Higs as our inline TE.I have seen several U Tube videos about Ferguson and how much effort he puts into his blocking. This brings up a question for me. Does anyone know where Allen lined up in 13? I don't think they had him as the move TE last year.I don't know, Allen playing all the snaps of 13 personnel, I think he's your starting move TE and a much more capable blocker than Fergy or Klare (maybe Fergy keeps improving). I don't think he was mostly aligned attached to the tackle - typically the Y - that was Parkinson most of the time. This brings up a question for me. Does anyone know where Allen lined up in 13? I don't think they had him as the move TE last year.
I agree with you. There's no way they trade him given he played every 13 personnel snap.
