I said in my comment on the good bad ugly Rams fans comments about Simpson and a lot of it was to the twitter, bluesky and reddit communities but we expect very little from them to begin with.
No wonder you are so messed up. Why the hell would you take anything literally with those sites. Almost all of them are trolls.

Honestly, I think he was pushed up the board to 13 because the Rams liked him and wanted him for their future QB. Others guys could have came out this draft and they’d still have taken Simpson imo (with the exception of Arch).

McVay is not going to deal with a QB unless that guy has the same type of defense reading, processing, etc that he does.
No way to tell what McVay would have done with more options on the table. Only reason you feel comfortable saying that is because the Rams drafted Simpson. Laughing at this reading defenses like McVay does comment too. No way to tell if the kid is that advanced and would be disproven badly if he doesn't beat out Stetson right away. The glazing is downright sad. I get you like the prospect but even the Rams are going to give the kid time to develop because he's not even close to being a QB1 yet. Keep saying time will tell how Simpson ultimately turns out.

I just don’t see that happening. He’s a family man too and I really don’t see him uprooting his little girls in order to move to a new city and play for another team at this point in his life. Players like Rodger’s and Brady have completely different situations and don’t seem near as family centered.
I kinda agree with this. I can't see him wanting to start over. Maybe if the team is near LA he'll consider? Interesting to talk about

You DO know he came within an outrageous Contract offer from Las Vegas, which probably only required a 3rd year being added from moving possibly, don't you?
No way to tell how interested Stafford really was so not necessarily true. I think what would be more telling is what factors made Stafford come back to the Rams

Except i don't. But i'm a HUGE Ram fan and once a guy is on the Rams, he's my guy. Especially if McVay likes & wants him. I'm not someone who enjoys seeing a guy fail as a Ram just to support some silly period of time when i was against us acquiring/drafting him.

Yeah but yet you're praising him like he is your guy. I'm rooting for the guy but I'm also not going to turn around or pretend I like him as a pick because the Rams drafted him. Even the great Rams FO makes mistakes from time to time. I think we made a mistake but I pray this dude and the Rams makes me look like a dumbass. I've even stated I wouldn't celebrate if I was right because it ultimately affects the Rams which sucks. Time will tell if Simpson is truly the future.

What was mainly reported was that Las Vegas and New York Giants both came in around 2 years 95-100 million. As a result Stafford returned to Rams at a "close enough" 2 years 90 million. As the Rams gave full blessing to Stafford to "shop around" with no hard feelings, and Stafford felt no hard feelings towards Rams for giving him this freedom, an easy agreement was reached and the parties remained married.

HOW-Evah, HAD, the Raiders offered something in the range of 3 years and 150 million its very likely the Rams would have folded and said "Good luck, Matthew." Remember, the Rams stood to get a high draft choice out of this as well.

Not sure if Staff was serious about moving cross-country in the event the Giants offered the same, but i gotta believe he and the Mrs would have made the short move to Vegas.

Remember, this was all before Staff had an MVP Season with us.

By all accounts, It AL-MOST happened. I, for one am not uncomfortable acknowledging this.

I think it is a fact that the Rams weren't happy with QB2 until Simpson was brought aboard. They were definitely not happy with Bennett alone for that role.

So maybe they wanted Bennett to have competition. But I took McVay's comments that they were not real happy with him. Doesn't mean he can't come in camp and kick ass. He did that, rose to competition every time at Georgia. So I wouldn't rule him out for QB2. But chances are Simpson is the one they want in that role.

Which means the Rams do see him as advanced enough mentally to be our backup. And I don't doubt that they are wrong on that. Backups, as I keep saying, are kind of a low bar around the league. But the moment they got Simpson the Jimmy storyline was done. McVay was straight up content after that in how he answered that question, whereas before he was saying the vet was necessary.

A lot of people seem to have mixed feelings on Simpson the player. I personally think he's incredibly talented and under McVay should turn into a quality franchise QB. I wish he was slightly taller but 6'1 isn't bad especially given his feet and IQ. Learning from Stafford will help take him to an entirely new level.

That being said I completely disagree with the franchise's decision to not give Stafford a player who impacts 2026. Whether offense or defense, an elite talent could have been had at 13 who helped Stafford get ring number two.

Lastly, something about McVay in the presser Thurs is still sitting with me. I've watched every appearance he's given since hes been hired, and I cant recall a single draft or interview where he answered questions like that. Is there a chance, he wanted to trade up/down for a different player but Simpson at 13 was the fallback plan for him and Snead? They obviously discussed the pick and agreed, but would he have preferred a different position over QB there?? That would explain his body language no? I think people are framing the pick like we went into the '26 draft wanting Simpson as our primary target, and Im just not sure.

If Adam Schefter is telling the truth, the Rams called Stafford and Bennett that afternoon and told them they were selecting Simpson.

At least that's what he said on ESPN.

Methinks they are on the level and McVay's body language/demeanor was for Stafford who still hasn't agreed to a new deal yet, btw.

I think in this instance, you are more concerned with posting & venting, rather than actually reading the posts.

Schefter has also been adamant that Rams wanted to take him at a later pick but no one called for a trade down. Said they were interested in Lemon, Sadiq or Vega if Simpson didn't work out.

FWIW Albert Breer said on a podcast today that the only player we were willing to trade up for was Love. He said the Rams “viewed him as really the only difference maker in the first round”.

If that’s really how they felt, the Simpson pick makes more a lot more sense.
Yep Adam Schefter pretty much confirmed all this on McAfee’s show. Said our front office didn’t think this draft contained many blue chippers and was down talent wise. He said we wanted to trade back for more picks and try and snag Simpson somewhere in the 20s but there were no takers. Also said the team considered Lemon and Ioane at 13 but we just weren’t in love with either.

McVay was acting like he just lost a game. Don't know the reason why, but everybody saw it so not seeing is just seeing what you want to. It also was reasonable to speculate, not knowing more, that McVay wasn't happy about the pick.
All the explanations seem reasonable to me. Well when I saw the interview with the assistant GM and director of scouting I felt it is impossible to lie so well. They really lay it out how they came about the pick. Also Jordans interview also makes it hard to believe McSnead were not on the same page and that Simpson was their most realistic target. They didn't trade down because AZ might jump them or they had no offers, whatever. It really is the only thing that makes sense if you watch the videos posted.
