Lmao. The folks who claimed? It was Simpson himself who claimed this in a post draft interview. People were just directly quoting Simpson’s own words. You act like people just made it up. The whole reason it became a story because it came from Simpson’s own mouth.
Good to know. Still wrong. ;)

lol nothing you said makes sense for the discussion. I understand you are angry and annoyed at the pick. I hope you eventually get past that. For now, seems blinders are on.

I’ve moved on myself already. I’m more interested the why (based on McSnead and their scouts comments) and how it impacts the future. What I thought before of Simpson didn’t matter anymore. He’s a Ram - I’m rooting the dude. Even though I think he has a tough road ahead. But if McVay is happy, I’m happy.
I'm actually not mad or irritated at all but hey make up whatever makes you feel better. I've said it over and over, its kinda funny. I don't like the pick but accepted the reality that he's a Ram long ago. Even said I'm rooting for the guy to shit on my opinion. That doesn't disqualify me from discussing Simpson does it? What I've said doesn't make sense because its not what you want to hear. I'm sorry but I'm not the one with blinders on when I've said multiple times, it could go a number of ways but your only response is he's gonna be great because of McVay. To me, the kid has a lot to prove and long ass way to go so I agree with the long road ahead comment. I'm not going to all of a sudden elevate the guy when I wasn't a fan to begin with, I call that fake admiration. I'm curious to see how he plays in the preseason, does he show flashes, can he beat out Bennett, etc. Again, I want to eat crow as it only benefits the Rams. I'll just say, I already accepted that we disagreed awhile back to, but if you respond, I tend to respond as well because I just don't shy away from discussing anything Rams related.

No, nothing he said makes sense, but he DOES laugh alot. Doesn't that count for somethin....??

I don’t think the Rams draft Simpson unless Stafford told them he’s done in a year or two max, pending health.

If the Rams thought they had 3 more seasons of Stafford… they would have picked a player at 13.

I’d argue it might be better than 50% this is his final season.
I think there’s some kind of misunderstanding. Stafford clearly wants to play another 2 years, at minimum. The one that’s not willing to commit that far down the road is Snead, not Stafford. And you’ll realize this over the next couple months as Stafford’s agent tries to leverage more years out of the Rams.

People keep making it seem like Stafford has been year to year and slow to commit, but that’s just not true. It’s always been a money question and whether the Rams were going to pay him his worth. That was the entire hold up last summer. There was no question whether Stafford wanted to play in 2025. It was just whether the Rams were going to pay him a rate that he thought was fair.

If the Rams offered Stafford a contract that paid him like a top 5 QB thru the 2028 season, he would sign it tomorrow with zero hesitation. But Snead doesn’t want to do that.

Riding coat tails as usual I see.....too funny.

Greenberg says what I feel perfectly. Now now, don't get excited, I made up my own mind way before seeing this video. Just thought if it came from a different voice, people might get it or not lol......Its ok if you don't see it that way nor do ya need to respond unless you want to. Just thought I'd share cuz mama said sharing is caring :laugh4:

I'm on Team McVay, not Team Greenberg. ;)

Man, this was my exact feeling on the draft. I wasn't in Love with anyone. I checked out about 3 weeks ago in even looking at players.

People keep saying we could have given Stafford an elite player for immediate impact. No, we couldn't have. The elite players were gone by pick 5 or so.
I would have been okay with the Ohio Safety but Dallas beat us to the punch by two picks

I don't know how clear it is that Stafford wants to play another 2 years. He had to take a little bit of time even this offseason to see if he wanted to come back even if it wasn't much time at all.

I do agree that the Rams are on a year to year with Stafford as that's what was reported by Jourdan back when she was on the beat.

Right now we are in a mutual do we want to be together relationship - whether that's Stafford retiring, Rams moving on, etc...

Wheels could fall off real easily with a 38 year old QB. Almost did last year and a lot had to go right for Stafford to play at an MVP level and not be injured. No guarantee that happens again.

you are right spyder... i heard it from simpson myself....

he did say he never talked to mcvay before the draft...

but like 90% of the people that were skeptical of the pick (me included) i have done a complete about face
based on INFORMATION and keeping an open mind with reading/listening to those more informed...

some on here just aren't gonna change their opinion no matter what...

how can anyone ignore the fact that a lot of people in the business were rating him possibly better than mendosa after 7-8 games in the beginning of last season,, what was it 20+ TD's and 1 INT?

and playing with cracked ribs after that may have contributed to his slide...

i think he's gonna be a lot better than most think...

and probably as good as mcsnead are betting on...

go rams

Anyone that tries to make you feel bad for questioning the Simpson pick isn’t an honest arbiter. You aren’t any less of a Rams fan for thinking he’s not the guy. There are scores of extremely credible NFL analysts and pundits that think it was a bad pick, or at minimum, think it’s a pick that absolutely deserves scrutiny and further examination.

Don’t be bullied by these grumps who want everyone thinking Snead/McVay are infallible. Projecting QBs in the hardest thing to do as a front office. Even the really smart guys get this stuff wrong.

And people also forget we TRAILED the WC card game with a minute to go. If Puka doesn't break up the Interception and the game goes sideways we are having different conversations. Even including the great Stafford.

He announced he was coming back exactly one week after our season ended. I don’t know how much quicker you wanted him to make the announcement. Check the history of 38 year old QBs, it doesn’t get any quicker than that.

Last year he wanted to come back but the Rams didn’t want to pay him what he thought he was owed.

It’s weird you keep making comments attributed to me that I didn’t say. Again, you either are not reading….or you are confusing me with someone else (or projecting). lol.

Like this - saying that I keep saying he’s gonna be “great”. That’s weird. Haven’t said it. Haven’t thought it.

…. but your only response is he's gonna be great because of McVay.

Puka had to make up for dropping a wide open touchdown pass with 15 seconds to go in the first half, which would’ve made it a 2 score game.

But even if the Rams came up short vs Carolina, what conversation do you think we’d be having? I’m curious.

I liked Downs. Hated his fit on the Rams. We just resigned Lake and Curl. He would have made one of them obsolete. I'm not sure how much improvement he would have added to the defense.

Even when I say I formed this opinion well before posting this clip, ya predictably still used Greenberg like I thought some would, go figure haha. He's only one of many other people out there that share this sentiment. There's a reason this pick was described as shocking. Its a pick for a polarizing player. High risk, high reward.

I feel very strongly that when we look back in 6 years, Downs will be the best player from this draft class.

Nick Saban and Kirby Smart talk about him like he’s Deion Sanders and Ronnie Lott combined, and those guys arent necessarily in a hurry to hand out praise like that.
