Perfect timing :giggle: here's hoping we can get all our guys resigned. Verse will likely want to be resigned after next year as well.
Continuity is a beautiful thing, and I think our HC/GM knows this.

Verse, Fiske, Kinchens, and Forbes, if he's still here.

There's going to be a lot of hard choices and a lot of guys we'll have no choice but to let go or trade.

Just curious, what's the argument for keeping Forbes these days?
Considering that he's worked on stopping the run and has made several good sticks (which was his weakness; coverage and ball skills have been his strengths)? Considering all of our other corners will likely not be here next year (Durant and Witherspoon are UFAs; D-Will could end up being a cap casualty)?

We need someone like Forbes as a vet in the defensive backfield.

I agree but your post may anger @gogoat1.

HC/GM is short for Head Coach / General Manager.
We all know what HC means, I use things like RB all the time.
But to act like we are all supposed to know who "JSN" is ? Am I supposed yo look up who the Rams next few games are going to be trying to figure out who that is ? Just say the last name at least.

JSN: Jaxon Smith-Njigba, the new NFL receiving leader who plays for the Hawks.

Also, FYI, if you see CMC, it's Christian McCaffrey ;)
I'm with the other guy. Can we make a rule only to use initials for Rams players and everyone else spell out their name? My brain hurt trying to decipher who JSN was.

The question is, out of the following list of names, which are foundational pieces that we want to build around? And you can't say all of them lol...

Lake
Landman
Puka
Avila
Turner
Young
Verse
Fiske
Kinchens
Forbes - don't know that he needs to be on the list unless he takes a huge step up, but his position is important.

Puka, Verse, Turner, Landman, and Young are my choices at the current moment.

Can’t argue too much… but I do think Lake is an important keep.

Personally I wouldn't resign him. We have been really good at developing safeties. Draft one on the later rounds and we don't have to spend money on the position.
We'll need that money for the other players.
Landman I would keep if the deal makes sense $$$

Sorry but I don’t want to type his name every time. He doesn’t have a simple, easily identifiable first or last name. The acronym I used is commonly used for him and not something I made up. Anyone confused can type JSN NFL in google and he’ll pop up, and then you’re good going forward.

All depends on the cost, positional need and age, which lesser players we end up cutting/trading/releasing in return to keep these players, and how they continue to develop.

I know it sounds like a cop-out, but I really can't say which players we absolutely must re-sign, Nacua aside (because that shit would be obvious even to a blind non-sports fan).

Keeping Lake is my strong preference, too. I was trying to distinguish between important wants and critical must-haves that will be the core of the team.

Snead has a knack for finding DBs in late rounds and even as low as UDFAs. The team has historically let DBs walk and hasn't really suffered for it. For these reasons, while I hope they keep Lake, I can't put him in the critical, foundational piece category.

Lake has quietly taken his game to a level I did not expect and became a defensive star in this system this year. His individual performance has elevating both the cornerback room AND the LB room with what he provides at the nickel. Dude is a huge reason why the team is having the defensive success we're having.
I think he has played above average at best
And a team friendly team would probably be the
right thing for lake at this juncture

I don't think team friendly is in the cards if he plays the rest of the way like he has so far this season.
Snead is unlikely to sign him before he tests the market in free agency. Lake will most likely command more than Snead is willing to pay for the position with young guys like the hard hitting duo of Kinchens and McCollough. They gave Curl a modest deal in free agency and he's signed thru 2026. Don't see a contract for Lake in the cards at this point.
