I got to give McVay/Snead the edge on this, something tells me their draft history is better than yours.... lol
2 years ago they were looking for a potential backup QB. If they see something in a QB this year who they can build in to the heir apparent to Stafford, I trust them entirely

Do you think Bennett is a backup QB that can win games if Stafford were to miss half a season with injury? I never did, and that was before his leave of absence. It’s not as if every draft pick Snead and McVay have ever made has panned out. They have made some bad picks.

I dont think Bennett was ever considered to be the eventual replacement but to be a mere Wolford 2.0. I hated the pick, he was literally the last QB from that draft I wanted. But from his first start in pre-season I think you saw all McVay wanted. A pre-season starter, a guy who could come in and run around and make a few plays. At that point in McVay's coaching career, other than last game of season meaningless play, his backup barely did a thing and didnt hold much value. Really wasnt until they went with JG that they truly valued the #2. And with the makeup of the team, if they draft a QB it would play out entirely different. We've seen McVay grow as a coach year over year, this role is no different

So you agree? It wasn’t a good pick.

A backup QB has other responsibilities, but that’s a big one. That was the one pick in that draft that I didn’t like. I think Wolford was a better backup. It felt like a throw away. Like the only thing they considered was that he’s a gamer who came up big in some big spots, despite his limitations, so let’s give him a shot.

At the very least you need them to be able to manage a game, while you use a conservative game plan and try to win with defense and running. I don’t even think Bennett was capable of that.

In hindsight? Obviously not. At the time? He wasnt drafted to spend his first year at Betty Ford clinic so shit happens.
In any event, in case you missed the rest of my post McVay has been evolving as a HC and how he now views the QB position. I'm here for it. Who knows if Bennett played well enough they may not have went with Garopollo and where we are today

Hindsight? You said you hated the pick? Which is it?

Whether I liked the pick or not has nothing to do with it being a good pick or not. Like I've said repeatedly is what was important to McVay then isnt the same as it is now, so the pick of Bennett is irrelevant. In any event, it appears you are looking for an argument here, frankly I'm not interested.

From Russini:

19.) Players who could be traded during the draft include QBs Kirk Cousins, Aidan O’Connell, Will Levis and Sam Howell.

From a Cleveland Brown Assistant Coach, hoping Sanders slips into the 2nd round. FWIW, what Coach would ever provide this information on a player? Loose lips sinks sips besides no reason to leak this unless you have an ulterior motive and even then, I would not do it, unless of course the coach had a few too many.
He probably got tired of the media selling bullshit storylines on the kid. You got ESPN types throwing racism around and shit. Fuck that. Of course there is always racism, but this league doesn't give a flying fuck what color you are if you can play. It's about tape and interviews man.

As QBs go right now I'd say Shough is a very good value for a round 2 board. Big, good arm, good tape, can throw and shows some anticipation. He won't be there much longer.

Hoping Cleveland takes Sanders. Pushes another good player down to us.

Doubt Rams look QB at 46 but I suppose it's possible they take a shot on one. Maybe they dip down again a bit on the board if that is their plan.
