Dude they've expounded 2 1/2 seasons now on Tutu rocking in camp. How many time do they have to rerun the same stuff they've done for countless other players that have been lost in the shadows and cut?

Playing football myself through middle, high school, and some of college one thing you can tell (especially with a skill position player) is that if you can't learn, handle, take, or contribute to the punt and/or kickoff teams your basically a one trick pony.

I have a pretty good hunch he is having a tough time adjusting to the offense like how Avery did. Even with all the hell Avery caught from fans he still made 8 TD's, 1263 yards, 12.6 avg, and 100 receptions his first 2 years.
Who exactly is "they?" Did anyone else remember reporters, fans or coaches saying Tutu was rocking in camp the last two years?

Every report I ever read was that he struggled to get on the field and then when he was the on the field he struggled?

I have to agree with Corbin

The last year - McVay spoke extremely highly of Atwell and held him out of preseason saying he didn't need any game time and then squat during the first half of the year. I felt Tutu should have played in each preseason game at least for a half to get more game time

Big mistake by McVay imho.

I'd be surprised if McCutcheon beat out Robinson
Yeah if anyone on the roster currently is most like Spruce it's McCutcheon. Had a few big catches last preseason. See if he can dig himself back up the depth chart but seeing as he doesn't do much on special teams i'd be surprised if he makes the 53... perfect practice squad candidate though.

I don't understand the reluctance to accept what has been consistently reported on Tutu this year... I guess we'll see... but I'm calling this shot right now - when Tutu gets on the field, he will be an asset and play very well.

He has never got to work with a healthy Stafford. I believe he will offer a big play element to our offense that will help open up the run, open up the middle for Kupp, VJ and Higbee, stress the secondary and all around play an important role in this year's offensive rebound.

Just keep him away from PR.

The same exact people you quoted that he’s rocking it out now? I’m sure you can pull those up here if you search.

Way to stick up for your opinion.
It's not my job to support your opinion. If you are curious about it you can search for it yourself. But you want to have an opinion and be right in your head, only to the Tutu is going to break out this year crowd, more power to you.

When that train breaks down this season like it did last season and like it did the season before the same excuses will come up, once again.

I think Atwell will have a good season. I see him as having good production over the remaining two years of his contract. But I doubt he is extended after 2024. He's limited in how he's used. That is his big problem. Once again he was tried out as a returner but apparently didn't impress. Xavier Smith is the same height with similar speed and IMO he will be the return specialist this year. Smith is also a decent receiver. I think Smith makes the roster and gets an extension as a returner.

Therein lies the real problem with Tutu. Unless Atwell absolutely becomes a phenom this year he will fall back to #4 by November IMO. This offense is getting bigger. Nacua can run jet sweeps, he can block, and provides Stafford with a big target, i.e. greater play radius. Case in point, Nacua can run a jet sweep motion and then be a lead blocker on an outside run with the RB. He did exactly that in college. With Tutu, it's either a handoff to him or it's a diversion. Smith can be a diversion or receiver and probably not a blocker, but he does return punts and offers the same speed as Atwell.

In other words, what does Tutu bring that others don't? And those "others" can be used in more ways. In the right offense, Atwell could be a star. But he's looking less and less like a fit for the way McVay's offense is evolving and that is Tutu's problem. Tutu can play and be productive in the right offense. But he's less likely as a scheme fit now than before.

Hope you're right. One thing about this offense is they have a lot of nice pieces if they all either take steps forward or avoid injury. The if's are what I'm hung up on right now. Talent is certainly there.

I think this year is a success for Tutu if we get around 600 yrds from him and around 4+ touchdowns.

(Puka is gonna eat some of his touches, otherwise I'd say closer to 800 yrds and 5+ touchdowns.

I don't know if you guys know this but Puka has modeled his game after Kupp. He reviewed Kupp's zoom calls to the Huskies WR room about technique. Now that they are teammates even more so. Kupp has been instrumental with his tips on approaching the game, leading by example as well as technique. Kupp explained to him how speed is good but how to understand how to use it is more important than timed speed.

"Not everything has to be full speed and pedal to the metal," Nacua said. "(Kupp) is the master of changing tempo, understanding where he needs to be, the timing of the play and how you get leverage in the play. Body control is a thing he's got to the maximum level."

He's been studying Cooper for years and now Kupp has been like a mentor to him. This is why I've always felt Puka is going to be #3WR and depending upon how Jefferson's contract goes, he could inherit that X WR position in the future.

That's why if Robinson finally puts his game together he does have an opportunity here. The problem with Robinson is he always looks good in camp but struggles to elevate his game in terms of consistency once the season starts. Regardless I see them drafting a WR with length and speed next year.

Well, Puka said a little differently in a recent interview. He explained that he modeled his game after Julio Jones and has for years. He also said that he is a "fan boy" of Cooper as well.

Maybe but I am thinking he is just going to be a gadget player who gets 10 to 15 plays a game

All of this talk of Spruce had to go look him up as I didn't know what happened to him. Can't believe he's 30 already... times flies I tell ya. Also the FAQ pro football reference puts up are funny. How is the last question frequently asked lol...

He's made it to the "Rams OTA Hall of Fame".

I also forgot what happened to him, but Fisher made alot of bone headed decisions when it came to the offense, so I just tossed it up as one of those.

my recollection was he had a great preseason game on the last drive to win it for the rams, got an injury at the same time and then we never saw him on the field again for the rams.

In the very small sample size I watched, I thought he had pretty good hands and could run a decent route. Much better than the previous diminutive receiver we had. One we traded up for in the first round. At least Tutu was late second round.
