Man, I don’t wanna be the bearer of bad news, but it seems like Stafford is coming down with something. Watch his part of the presser today….hes coughing and his voice is a little raspier than normal. Hes a tough son of a bitch, and will play regardless but don’t be shocked if we get Stafford under the weather news in the next 48 hours.
I just got over that cold..... I just shoved Vics up both my nostrils, and chewed down Vitamin C tablets and it disappeared rather quickly.

Stafford will be fine.

I only played football for 10 years (3rd - 12th grade) but there were 0 coaches that taught intentionally diving at the knees or spearing with the helmet to make a tackle. Penalty or not it’s just shitty technique and dangerous to players.
It really depends what position you play. I played WR and TE my whole football career, and I was usually one of the tallest kids on the field in Jr. All American Football, so I was usually being hit below the waste. In high school by the end of my sophomore year I was 6'-2" 185-190 and that was considered pretty big back in the 70's... (average in todays football).

When I played (and caught the ball) I tried to avoid contact, rather then trying to put a hit on a smaller DB's, but they always went for the thighs and sometimes got the knees. Today when you watch TE's they actually try to put a big lick on those DB's.

Things only got dirty when you were blocking.... lots of hands got stepped on and fingers twisted.

I can see both sides. From defenders perspective, you can’t go high so youre already limited to where you can tackle. And when you are tackling someone bigger than you, you need to make sure you wrap their legs. If you tackle hip/body, higher likelihood of bigger TEs running over you. Remember this is also happening in real-time and it’s bang bang and a lot of time ppl get hurt when they jump and come down and get hit at the same time. Obviously when it happens and someone gets hurt, it sucks but we are talking about 1 or 2 plays out of how many? Zach Ertz also just got hurt during the Vikings/Commodes game like this. Terrible…

Yeah I just listened to todays interview with Stafford, I don't know what he's referring to, he sounds fine.

You can't even prove he intentionally goes at knees so what we talking about? That's your opinion and a very dangerous one that puts a bad publicity on a player who again, made a completly legal play. Newsflash when you get hit below the waist you could get hit in the knee. Blame the nfl for shrinking the legal hit box above the waist. Yall probably hate kerby more fir making a legal hit than Jamar chase for literally spitting on a grown man face and then lying about it. Btw Durant, lake, and kitchens have all been fined for hip drop tackles and hitting defenseless players...are they dirty? Let me guess..no right? Because they're rams?
Watch the tape. If you don’t see an intentional dive at the knees on Higs then we are just seeing things differently. no harm/no foul. Just completely different perspectives.

Kelvin Sheppard is the Lions' DC. He played against Stafford in college (both born in 1988). He went from NFL player to DC in 7 years. I don't know if he's any good, but he seems to handle the podium well.
(@10:53) The view from the other side is that with the Rams 13 package, the plays are playing like it's 11 and 12 personnel
"[McVay] can morph that 13 into anything he wants"
On McVay: "Brilliant, brilliant coach that's doing a damn good job over there."

Clearly you’ve never driven in Florida. There are tons of gawd awful drivers who purely by the grace of God haven’t been in a ton of accidents as they Mr Magoo their way to the Publix, leaving devastation and carnage in their wake.

They’re absolutely terrible drivers, but *technically*, they have no points on their record.

Safe on paper, but menaces on the road.

Refs miss calls all the time. That can’t be contested. As for fines, the rhyme or reason for them can be opaque and every week there are guys who aren’t fined who should be and guys who are fined who definitely shouldn’t be. The existence of a fine does not infer absolute guilt any more than the absence of a fine infers absolute indemnity.

To wit: there are PLENTY of shitty drivers with clean records…and plenty of dirty plays to unflagged and unfined. It’s not a question of interpretation.

In our town we are having issues with young kids riding around like Evil Knievel (with no helmets) on E-bikes. It's pretty scary to watch. There was a bad accident where they were operating them on sidewalks and hit elderly people and hurt them pretty bad. From what I was told the parents are being charged child endangerment and the kids are probably gonna get slapped pretty hard. The police is now confiscating them if the kids operating the bikes are not observing the road laws to a T.

Per the DVOA metric, Rams are not only the best team in the NFL right now, they statistically are one of the greatest teams of all-time. If they come out focused, they will make short work of the Lions. There is a lot on the the line, this is not the game to drop. Expecting possibly the most well played game of the season and a message to be sent.

The lions have a very good offense but the Rams O is just as good and we are better defensively. Plus we are at home which hopefully will give us an advantage. This game is scaring the hell out of me though. The lions are against the wall and this will be like a playoff game for them and you know Captain Caveman will be going for it on many 4th downs. We owe them one however, and a big one, and I hope this game is it. Run it down their throats, pressure Goff, and I think we win.

Captain Caveman :laugh2:

I'm also having a tough time getting comfortable for this game.

I think we should use an up tempo offense and keep the Lions D on their heels. We don't do so well when we try to slow things down and go out of our way to prioritize the run.... Seems like we end up with too many 3rd and longs.

On defense, be ready for trick plays! The Lions are in a tough situation as a Loss *may* mean no playoffs with the Packers and Bears in front of them.

These are games where I worry about McVay's play calls, however Campbell kinda makes me smile because he will take bigger risk.

The key in this game is the Rams run defense as well as covering Gibbs out of the back field.
