Had made the assumption we were likely looking into a corner at 13 ... not as likely now. Who do you see as a possible choice now that they have McDuffie?

LB Sonny Styles?
TE Kenyon Sadiq?
WR Makai Lemon?
Still going after a CB and doubling down on the secondary?
S Caleb Downs if he falls?

Who do you think the Rams take?

The defensive guy in me dreams of a scenario where the Rams sign Jamel Dean and still draft Styles at 13. How insane would the D be?
I would love that.

Edge/DLine:
Young/Stewart - Fiske - Ford - Turner - Verse (plus DJohnson, Ty Hamilton and Tyler Davis)

Inside Linebackers:
Landman - Styles/Speights (plus Dolac)

Corners:
McDuffie - Dean/Forbes (plus Wallace)

Safeties:
Lake - Kinchens/McCollough

Yeah, I could get down with that being the defense taking us to next year's Super Bowl.

I foresee a team such as the Jaguars, Steelers or Chargers trading for a guy they like at 13. Rams would likely net their 3rd round pick and maybe a late day 3 as well.

Rams drop back into that spot and take Chris Johnson, CB , SDSU. I know another SDSU alum who enjoyed a great career as a Ram.

I like this scenario - no blue-chip WR's or Styles or Downs available, so they drop back 5 - 10 spots & get an extra 3rd or even a 2nd.

I’d love Styles - would help transform the defense. But I don’t think he’s there at 13.

Thus, they will go with BPA on their board that has a love for the game (rams fit). Likely that’ll be one of the WRs (Tyson, lemon, etc), CBs or OT.

I’d move down a little (if styles gone) if possible. Otherwise a WR who can complement Puka and be a cheap offset to Pukas pending huge cap hit contract

Reportedly, MCD is to get around $30mil/per. Ouch. That is serious cheddar.

Looking at the draft through a financial lens:

Guard: Avila/Dotson
Can’t see the Rams signing both. Is Dedich ready to move up into the starting role? If not, a Guard needs to be drafted fairly early (starting material by 2027?), but not at #13.

WR: Are the Rams willing to pay the $$ to extend Adams when there is a ton of talent at WR in this draft?
This seems like a good candidate at #13.

IDL: Turner/Fiske are the biggies to consider, but there are a couple more.
Another candidate at #13? Hmm.

Edge/OLB: Verse/Young
This is the one that might hurt. We’re talking bookend pro bowlers.
Stewart looked good as a rookie, another high end Edge player would be great.
A definite possibility at #13

Tackle: The Rams need 3 quality Tackles capable of starting—and that’s assuming McClendon re-ups with the Rams.
Just don’t see it at #13, but it should be before day 3.

CB: Have the Rams done enough? Is there still a chance they grab one at #13? I think the chances are now slim.

Safety: Curl will probably get more $$ somewhere else. There are two Safties who could be #13 eligible.

I’m gonna guess front 5 or WR.

I pretty much agree with all of this except Edge/OLB. Because Stewart looked good as a rookie, I don't see them drafting that position at 13. Maybe they pick someone up later in the draft.

The future anticipated free agency departures will likely direct our draft as you stated. We don’t have an immediate need outside of maybe a second CB, which hopefully they can address in free agency with a solid vet like Dean.

Which position could help the most in a Super Bowl run but also replace future free agent loss:

CB, IOL, RT, WR, Edge

But an impact off ball linebacker could transform the defense.

I think with the gap in our picks between rounds 3 and 6, it helps to think about our needs now as "contributors" (likely to play) and "depth":

Contributors needed: CB2, WR3
Contributors wanted: T, ILB

Depth: CB5, ILB, S, T

If we don't sign any FAs, I think our 7 picks are going to the following positions: CB, WR, T, ILB, CB, S - and then possibly edge or guard, depending

As long as we will CB2 and WR3 with either FA or day 1/2 picks, I think may have the best roster in the NFL

first an explanation of my draft. because i am old and can't remember names i am just going to list position

first i will show the position i would like to see them pick than who i think we will really pick

because i would like to have 4 or 5 players that have pro bowl potential than 10 guys that have the potential to make the practice squad, special teams or back up player that's what udfa are for.

first we should package Higbee, or any of those players that we kept because of their potential. package what ever we have to get up to the 4th round. ok so now for what i would like to see us pick

first rnd #13we take a ot that we think could play either left or right ot
first rnd #29 get a ot that could play right tackle or move in side
2rnd #61 best cb left
3rnd 393 yes another cb
4th rnd from packaging what ever we have 2 get into 4th rnd best inside backer available.
5rnd wr 3 167
i know this leaves us with some position that needs addressed but their is free agency

now what i think we will pick
1st rnd pick 13 wr
first rnd #29 cb
2rnd pick #61 safety
3rnd pick #93 qb
5th rnd pick#167 in side lb
the rest of the picks will be those players with potential most will be replace in 2 or 3 years by the next bunch of players with
potential

now i know that doing the draft my way will cost us that occasional diamond in the ruff but i think that is udfas are for and i know that some of those high picks will be busts that why i double up on position. anyway, i like the idea of having draft pick with pro bowl potential instead of picking a bunch of players looking for the diamond in the ruff

i know that we have been very successful and i can't complain about our success but i would like see what my way would bring after a year or two

part of the reason i took 2 ot is i think if you have a great ol that makes your wr 'qb and rb that much better

The more I think about it, I would actually be more surprised if the Rams took a CB than I would OL at #13.
They’re in a position to take the BPA and a top OL could fall to #13. They need depth/potential starter in 2027.

There will be quite a few talented WRs and CBs left at #61.

It would really be nice if there were a player at a premium position worthy of such a high selection.

Omar Cooper Jr, WR, Indiana vs. Colton Hood, CB, Tennessee

BPA, period. If one of the top three receivers falls to us, sure. If it’s McCoy or even Delane (much as I wouldn’t like the latter choice), sure. If it’s Bain? Damn straight, and I deal Agent Zero for a 2027 first because Bain is going to be a monster in the NFL, even with his puny Tyrannosaur arms.

Otherwise, I think I swing a trade down, get picks in the second, draft a Concepcion, Boston, Cooper, Hood, Chris Johnson, Cisse, etc. with that first.

Best Available Offensive Player who gets touches on game day

-This is still an offensive team.
-Still need more speed and explosives from the ball carriers.
-Can’t stand pat just because the offense scored 30ppg.
-It’s still too reliant upon Stafford’s arm and McVay’s play calls being elite and scheming open targets who struggle to separate, respectively.
-It’s still an offense that finds it difficult to score TD’s between the 20’s and has to get into the red zone to get TD’s. Too much pressure to drive 80 yds on most possessions.

Elite ball carriers needed who can house call on any given play. The GSOT had at least four to five guys who could do that. Seattle has a few. This team has maybe one.

Dan - you might want to change that 1st round (29). There is some recent big news on that front. ;)

Outside of blue chip players which probably won't be availabletous at 13, who are the elite ball carriers that you have in mind.

If Love falls to within 5 spots of #13 I’m seriously looking at trading up.

At #13 Im targeting Tyson. If he’s gone Im taking BPA at any position but if the value isn’t there, trade down. It’s just smart. Rams miss out.

Other targets i like in a 1st rd trade down and early rds are Conception, Sadiq, Stowers, Cooper Jr…he reminds me a bit of Anquan Boldin lite. Not a blazer but smooth and physical.

Also like Malachi Fields, Mike Washington Jr., Nick Singleton, ex con Seth McGowen Lol

In FA i like Shaheed, Greg Dortch, Romeo Doubs, Joe Mixon

Seems to be hurt more often than not, no?
