With how much cap space? 57 mil? Minus the rookie class (7-12 mil)

If that info is nearly accurate, the big questions I have are:
1. Give Alaric LT money???
2. Cut Noteboom and eat how much???
3. Draft a LT and get him cheap for 4 - 5 years????
4. Draft CB (or two)??
5. Sign CB in free agency (big money?)???
6. Draft Edge high???
7. Sign FA Edge?? (big money?)
8. Draft QB???
9. Sign Wentz???

I'm not a cap expert by ANY MEASURE.. I just played with the overthgcap.com tools.. I kept Alaric Jackson with a 2nd round tender offer.. I gave Dotson 9 million a year.. I gave Witherspoon 5 million a year..

I designated Noteboom and Allen as post June 1st cuts.

I got to 42 players.. and by restructuring Stafford, Donald, Kupp, Havenstein and Higbee.. I got to well over 100-million in cap space.

Again, I'm not a cap guy.. and this is just using the overthgcap.com tools.. AND being hyper aggressive.. but that's what I got to. And that kind of model is the only thing that makes sense to me as to why they decided to clear the books this year.

With that kind of $$ available.. they can take some massive swings.. AND bring in multiple value vets.. even have a quality backup qb.

And what does this organization's recent history say about the likelihood it goes all in?

If they weren't going to go big next year, why would they clear the books the way they AGGRESSIVELY did this year? To start a mediocre rebuild?

No. I think not.

Tell me how it answers these questions, because a calculator without any explanation is stating nothing. You cant re-structure a contract with only 1 year left
Stafford already has 86 mill in dead cap, how much more do they want to kick down the road?
Donald is in last year of his deal and already has 2 void years
Kupp already restructured once and is already carrying 10+ mill per year in dead cap
Noteboom in last year of his deal and already has 2 void years, cut or trade him "saves" only 5 mill
Havenstein already 2 void years, really cant save much
Higbee just signed extension and pushed 5 mill in to dead cap

Look.. you can argue with them all you want.. I used both overthecap and spotrac.. both gave me more than 85 million in space with restructures..
On top of that.. overthecap let me do the post June 1 cuts.

According to both of those resources.. THEY CAN.. do basic restructures opening up a bunch of money.

You are focused on whether they should and whether it's a good idea.

I'm focused on do they have the ability to open up money if they wish to.

It appears they do.

And I'm perfectly aware of the ramifications. I'm also aware of what resources they have to improve the roster enough to compete for a Super Bowl over the next couple of years.. and they won't be able to if they "play it safe."

Signing a bunch of free agents hasn't been the course they have taken in the past and big spending sprees don't usually equal success.

I can't imagine what argument you think you're making here.

I mean.. really?
Whitworth, Floyd and A'Shawn Robinson. Three significant players.

Oh.. and it worked out that OBJ hit the street.. and they brought in Weddle in the playoffs.

You have to acquire talent and FA is one of the tools to do that. Trades are great too.. but those cost you draft picks and you often have to over pay in the trades, or to retain the players once they hit FA.

They've drafted and are developing a bunch of young players who are good and will be helpful. FA is a tool to get players in key roles to push them over the top.
