I am wondering how many of the eleven posters who voted for the 1970s playoff losses to the Vikings, actually lived through them. The 1974 and 1976 NFC Championship losses in Minnesota were half-a-century ago. That's a REALLY long time.

I once went back-and-forth with a good poster over whether the 1990s was a brutal decade. I argued YES because for the first nine years (1990-1998) the Rams had the worst record in the entire NFL. The poster countered that the 1999 Championship was enough to make it a great decade. I asked how the poster could just ignore nine horrendous seasons; and the poster admitted to only starting to follow the Rams in 1999.

Getting-over something you did not experience, is not a big deal.
That whole conversation was just a big waste of time. I hope he bought you a drink for the aggravation.

OK. Maybe Chrissy Everett (sorry @Selassie I ). Blade gave us some pretty damn good QB play and some hope at QB. And he was very purdy.
I never thought Everett took a dive out of fear of getting hurt. Just protecting the ball. Looked bad though.

I always wondered if the game would have had a different outcome if Everett would have thrown a better ball on the flea flicker at the beginning of the game.

.

where's the kurt warner getting treated like garbage then only getting cut after every other team was set at qb option?

all because his wife named names.

View attachment 65893

before brenda struck, martz preferred to play warner with a broken throwing hand than bulger. after brenda struck, warner had to stand on the sideline for a whole season watching bulger in action.

and no, i will never get over it.

.
yeah, Martz was a fucking baby. Huge fucking ego that got in the way all the time. So insecure.
After the first SB loss under McVay I was worried we had a similar problem with ego, but McVay is to smart for that.

Some of those I'm over, but will never get over 2001. Have never rewatched that game and never will.

I can see how my comments could be misconstrued, so please allow me to clarify.

Yes ... I am calling you old.

Seriously though, over the years, I have posted a few times that the most painful losses I have endured in my 55 years of being a die-hard Rams' fan (FUCK! ... I am old) were the 1974 and 1976 NFC Championship Games.

I have seen many great wins (a few with a ton of good fortune attached); and some brutal, disappointing losses. There have been a number of very close games, where a couple plays and/or calls were the difference. For me, all five Rams' Super Bowls fall into that category.

Getting to the NFC Championship Game is Huge in my opinion, simply because reaching a Super Bowl is great. The Rams are 4-0 in NFC Championships over the past quarter century; and that is Fantastic.

In a 16-year period from 1974-1989, the Rams were a devastating 1-6 in the NFC Championship.
They were all brutally disappointing for me but in four of those games, the Rams were clearly out-played ... 1975 and 1978 at home against Dallas, 1985 in Chicago and 1989 in San Francisco.

As disappointed as I was (and I was just a teenager for the Dallas games), it was mostly a disappointment in how poorly the Rams played; or simply were not in the same class as the '85 Bears or the '89 Niners. I got over those losses fairly quickly.

The two losses in Minnesota still cause me grief; and it's for the same reason. In my opinion, the Rams were better than the Vikings on those two days but lost incredibly close games. The Rams were one win from a Super Bowl, and were the BETTER TEAM THOSE DAYS but still lost. The 1976 NFC Championship was also Merlin Olsen's final game; and he was my favorite Ram of all-time.

My point in my original post was simply that a fan Must Live Through something to Get Over It.

Hell, my parents never completely got over the Great Depression because of the pain and suffering endured by their parents and families when they were children. For me, the Great Depression was really No Big Deal. That's because it happened three decades before I was born.

All this stuff, over the years, has been total crap.

But I will say, nothing has or ever will be (in my opinion), more satisfying than everything that happened in the Rams '99 season. From preseason to the final tackle, best season ever as a fan for any sports team in any sport!

That '74 game pissed me off because we should have had home field due to winning the head to head during the season. Instead, conference record was the 1st tie breaker and we had to play in that shit weather in that shit stadium.

Yeah... I lived through that crap. And yeah... I'm old.

Now either mow my lawn or get off it.

Tough for me to get over the Goff SB. That should have been retribution for 2001.

I know it was not all Goffs fault but cmon if we had 9 under center we win going away....

If we just had Kupp, or a just a healthy Gurley I think Goff would've been fine & could've been wearing a ring.
That drop by Brandin was brutal.

Not a drop - uncalled PI!!!
I still say the first one was a drop. I have seen some receivers make that catch even when the CB is trying to knock the ball away. He was not aggressive on that ball.

That one I put more on Goff for not throwing sooner. Second one was PI.
