Okay.
Every member here has his corner on where they stand with our QB situation, but it's taking its toll.
We're not all going to agree on everything.
Isn't that what makes discussion interesting, though?

The name calling and any personal attacks can't and shouldn't happen.

Agreed, we're literally all on the same team here. No need for name-calling.

If that Jared Goff rumor is true, it makes a lot more sense why Snead and McVay have been acting the way they have.

Frankly, I hate the idea of trading for Stafford. The only trade I'd be excited for is obviously Watson.

That said, I do believe this is a bit of a ruse to light a fire under Goff's ass. Ever since McVay called him out, he's been trending upward in terms of performance.

I hated Goff's play and held my breath every time he took a snap, but I still think he should get one more chance, and have him earn the spot every single day. Bringing in competition will be a good thing for the Rams. I just don't see any way these trades make any sense for us financially.

Aw for crying out loud, correct me if I’m wrong but hasn’t Goff been squeaky Peyton Manning ish clean?

You guys wanna fire away at other issues well I suppose that’s fine, but usually party animal athletes screw the pooch at some point

Then again, this IS an offseason thread

Just want to be clear.

The timing of the story (late-November 2019) is ‘funny’.

But me dating Christen Harper is still on-the-table. Right?
November of 19 was the month that Goff through zero TDs the entire month.

Do I think he parties. Yeah.

Do I think he shows up hungover? No.

It used to also be off limits to attack players but that seems to have been halted for the Jared Goff discussions.
It's still a rule.
However. Just saying he's a bad QB isn't against the rules.
I haven't seen anyone call him a POS or anything of the sort. Which would be a clear violation.
As much as we try to read every single word in here, some things occasionally will get missed.

All in all. This board has many quality members and a solid culture.

Austin Blythe has received 10 times the criticisms that Goff has.

Poor guy doesn't even have a legion of adulators like our unpredictable QB.

Oh it's in this and the other thread they may be doing a better job of walking the line but it's there personal attacks are all over the place.

I'm not going to call someone out for walking the line.
I have seen more than my fair share of arrogance and piss poor attitudes towards other members in all these QB threads from all sides of the discussion.
And yes, most were walking the line.

I won't sit a member down, just because I don't like their personal opinion.

I just got done loading two semi loads of hogs (335) gonna have a few Busch Lights and chill.

I'll start and end with my thoughts quick.. If he's a Ram, I'll support him. If he's not, I'll still support him. Do I like him as a person? Yes. As a player? Not so much right now.

That's it. Long story short.

To all my fellow ROD friends, I enjoy all conversations, heated or not, and no matter how much I disagree, it doesn't make me think of anyone less or more. It's nice to have differences because it opens a new point of view.

Cheers y'all, it's beer:30.

what is out of bounds so far here? Admittedly, I haven’t (and won’t) read the entire thread here or in any of the other 10 Goff threads - but what is the objection?

should we not be allowed to talk about the reddit rumor because of the questionable nature of its sourcing? Should we not be allowed to be critical of his play? Of his regression / lack of progression?

in the end, this is either an elaborate smoke screen or the brass really wants a change.

if it’s smoke, then it’s well done - its convincing. Hopefully it drives the price up for the 9ers or motivates Goff - or both.

if it’s real, then the people who know Goff best - the ones who see him in practice, in the film room, etc - think we would be better off with a change. If they think so, then I‘m with them- because I’m not seeing enough on Sundays to make me think they are wrong.

And here it is 2021 and now is an issue?
A fictitious rumor from November of 2019 and it takes a season and a half before McVay acts on it?
This is character assassination stuff. If there was any semblance of truth to that nonsense, I mean the slightest inkling, that would not have been the end of it.

Well, his on the field performance didn't always give me the warm fuzzy feeling they he was focused.

On topic- I would be against getting Matt Stafford without a clear and obvious upgrade to our line. Matt is often hurt or playing through injuries because He’s already been hit too nuch up in Detroit. Bringing him here could ruin/end his career. And besides, even though I think he’s more mobile than Goff, it would still put McVay in the sane scenario creating plays designed to succeed in 1.7 seconds.

Not trying to rehash anything but on a personal level if you read a rumor and it’s from a source that has a reputation of reporting false information, then see if that rumor has been cooraborated by multiple trusted sources. Especially if that rumor slashes someone’s character. It’s just common courtesy but it also makes our experience here more enjoyable.

No one wants to sort through pages of rumors to find actual real reports, especially this time of year when trades are going down.

Ok I’ll step off my pulpit now.

Exactly this. The problem is this becomes like a game of telephone - weeks, months, or years down the line people will rehash “I heard that Goff partied too much and wasn’t a hard worker. I think there were reports about it” - then this crap gets repeated over and over without subsequent people realizing the rumor stemmed literally from a random Reddit post.

Edit: re-reading that Reddit post,if one assumes that person is even repeating something they heard, it’s it’s own version of telephone “hey guys, I heard from mutual friends of Goff’s GF that...”.

I know this is a message board, but I think we’re better than disparaging a man’s character (especially one currently on our team) based on a year-old “rumor.”

The problem with rumors is no one knows for sure. We believe what we want to believe. Some people will go so far as presenting their beliefs as fact. I don't know what is in Goff's, McVay's or Snead's heads. I won't try and read the tea leaves or crystal ball. Because I don't know. No one here knows. At least not today.

We will know more in the coming months by their actions. If they draft the first available quarterback I would say that is telling. If they address the line issues in free agency and the draft that would tell us a lot too. All these opinions are just that. Opinions. Nothing more. We all have them.
