I don't expect Tavon's contract to be an issue after this season. Either he'll have a breakout season(new WR-friendly offense) or he'll be let go a year from now.

I agree to an extent. AO has earned a contract based off of his play, how much will depend on this season. He's been more consistant than TA, Barron, and Tru. Who knows how or where he'll play in this new system. I just think it would be silly to let a solid player go, unless he's asking for the world. Based on the money the rams have gave to others he just might
Really depends on how he responds to Wades defense and what his salary demands are. He's not a top ILB nor was he a top OLB. He's good and he's certainly not a pro bowler. I'm not going to hinder the resigning or Donald to keep him around. That being said we're slated right now before any contracts we sign this off season to have $72 Million next year without knowing what the cap will go up to. Though with how we over paid for Tavon and Barron he'll likely ask for more than he's worth. At some point the Rams need to stop these silly over pays.

SUPERSTAR ? No . Not by a longshot , AO will still lead the team in tackles and my biggest hope is his pass coverage has to get better for him to deserve the giant payday. He has the speed you want and not afraid to go sideline to sideline yet his pass coverage still lacks and hopes if Singletary did'nt coach him up that this new defense will be a benefit to his skillset. I can see using his speed in more blitzing than we've ever seen before. Thus making AO much more valuable to our defense. This defense I think allows us to use AO's speed in a Much bigger way than his poor atempts in pass coverage where he seems to get lost. If we can get sacks and FF's from our speedy and most talented LB ,then he will have earned a nice contract. Why can't we close the deal on longterm contracts ? I think this new defense allows us to get more from who we have . Brockers will get a chance to see if he can expand his game like a Calais Campbell did in the same change. I'm excited as in a 3-4 with Phillips leading we may find out we were misusing our talent on "D" very early on. Hope the "D" is easier to pick up then Williams' was. AO must prove his speed can beat an inside OL and bring a new threat we only had with AD breaking free up the middle. Could be a new major weapon.
If "not that good" is a second team All-Pro, then I want to see what good is.
He got one vote by someone who has a tackle fetish, tied with a lot of other players. I do not know how someone can watch games and think that he's good. After seeing him get washed out in the run game week after week, I am done with him. Others may disagree but I am done
Ogletree is athletic. That's all he is. He's an athlete trying to play football and has no idea how to play LB. Just my opinion
I disagree. Tree proved that he could replace Laurinaitis, and he was actually better. He got better as the season went on and took an active leadership role. And who would you replace him with? A late round pick? Good luck finding one more athletic and instinctive than Tree.
If instincts cause you to overpursue plays and bite on playaction, I'm not sure I want someone as instinctive as Ogletree. Getting better from garbage isn't saying much, and leadership doesn't mean anything. Laurinaitis sucked too and he was a leader.
Don't want to replace Tree now. Next year though it should be a priority.
I think he is a liability. All I'll say on that. Tired of pretending all of our players are good.

One thing that's been repeated a lot but Wade makes excellent use of low round picks in his defense at MLB. Look at the starters last year in Denver. An UDFA from Sacremento St and a 5th round pick from Nevada. Year before last it was the Nevada kid Marshall and Trevathan who was a 6th round pick. While I'm not pointing this out to say Tree isn't good I'm just saying if you think Tree is necessary to the Rams defense you might be overstating things. Hell we can probably work with Forrest and Hager in the middle and Tree and Quinn on the outside this coming season.
Exactly my point, I can't think of a good one that does. Hell one of the best MLB in the league was just let go in free agency and not franchised in Hightower.
I'm in more agreeance with you my friend than you know and am hoping his one good trait in speed can be used better in an attacking style in Phillip' defense. Plus he will not be as responsible hopefully in coverage. Yes he plays without discipline but maybe we can use what he does have positively as a defensive missle instead of the sacks we are lacking from our DE's who can't stay on the field. I hope he can be more of a disruptor in a 3-4 than being much more limited in a 4-3 MLB. I got eaten alive saying negative comments about Lauranitus as he slowed down and made tackles further back. I'm hoping we can recreate a new threat from AO's speed and if he can just learn some discipline and not get lost in the wash or lose contain. He was never gonna be a plugger. Lots of them in this years draft and not sure anyone but our Kentucky boy fits the bill but maybe Bryce in a pinch but not a full game. I hope he has a contract season but I also am not sold he is irreplaceable either. :icare:
AO may get moved into more of a rush the passer role. Not from the inside but outside linebacker position. I'm sure it will be tried at least , to see if he has the skills to get home. We need bigger and better tacklers in the middle than AO showed last season. He can't take on a Big OG and shuck him and take on RB and stop him cold. Hoping Forrest in his 2ND year can be that guy for us. Not sure Hager could do much more than stand up the OL while someone else made the tackle. I need to see AO be able to get good enough to break up a screen or blitz from inside like many teams are running LB cross dogs. Don't see a giant payday for AO without a career year this year. Of course I hope it happens. he better come in just a tad bigger and just as fast as ever with true discipline not getting lost so often.:icare:
