I liked your post, but I have to say that I LIKED the Noteboom signing at the time and HATED the robinson signing.True. Not a move that worked out. Wasn't happy about it at the time it was signed.
I was however excited about the Allen Robinson signing. Did not see that flop falling.
The good news is that these misses are few compared to a lot of other teams and
without doubt far fewer than most of our Ram FO's of the past.
I may not remember as far back as some on ROD, but IMHO, this is the absolute best
Rams organization, as a whole, from the owner to the towel guy that I can recollect.
There are still nights I wake in cold sweat, flinging my arms uncontrollably and screaming
out names such as John Shaw and some Zygmunt guy.![]()
I thought Noteboom had played well enough to get this shot and LTs are hard to come by. He didn’t work out.
What upset me the most about the robinson signing was he was supposed to be an upgrade over Woods. Blasphemy.
The Rams wanted to dump robinson so badly, they paid $10 mil of the $15 mil robinson made that year as a steeler. The Rams only owed him $5, but hey split his $10mil salary with the Steelers just to get rid of him!
Either way, we as fans get it wrong just as the teams do, but you’re right about one thing—this is absolutely the best the Rams have been organizationally in my lifetime.
Think about this: the Rams have made the playoffs the last 2 years despite being in the middle of the 3rd rebuild in the McVay era. With the release of Kupp, only Higbee and Havenstein remain as having been on the roster for both SBs under McVay. Havs is the only one who played in both.
…and we’re going back again this year!
