2026 CBs:
McCreary or Durant
FA Dean or Watson
Forbes
R1 Draft pick
R6 Draft pick
I don't want Durant. He had plenty of time and opportunity in this defense and is a non-factor. I'd rather slot a fuckin UDFA in that room that the Rams really like and who can be a good teams contributor than pay his undersized ass.

McCreary I don't have any strong feelings either way. Rams got a good look at him so I figure they will know what to offer or not offer. So if he returns cool. If not cool as well.

Forbes doesn't have enough dog in him. He's gonna return, but if they restack this room aggressively he may get squeezed out as those bottom roster spots should be a teams stud of some form.

FA should add a couple fresh names to the room. Draft should add a couple more. Then we should also have a strong UDFA haul. So it would not surprise me if the Rams field a completely different corner group in 2026. And I'd consider that a good thing.

Jermod McCoy looks like he’ll be a stud in the NFL (granted he can stay healthy). I would love if the Rams pick him up at 13.

I also would love to see Jamel Dean in a Rams uniform next season. With the cap available I think Snead can find a way to make that happen.

I would in no way use a 1st rounder on a CB.
Why are you so against drafting the one most single position that needs serious upgrades? I really dont understand your logic. All-Pro CBs are almost always drafted high, quite often even excelling as rookies. After paying our extension eligible players there will not be a ton of cap space left to just sign any and all free agent CBs. How the hell do you suppose we infuse talent at our worst position group without drafting some help? Every time you post I scratch my head wondering what the hell.

I agree with you. Couldn't figure out the Duane Valle's thought process or reasoning.

So, I reached out to five brilliant and trusted friends asking if they understood the guy's thinking.
Just heard-back from them ...

CB's out of college rarely do well their first year in the NFL. If we are looking to enhance the future, a QB is the right pick and or a center we can get ready in 2027.
While I agree with your point about corners, there's does seem to be at least 2 guys who are likely day one, dependable, starters.

When they sign Tutu to a 3 year extension on April 1st, folks are gonna go ballistic

Wouldn’t believe it until the 2nd. I see you trying to set up your April Fools joke early.

I would be surprised if the Rams do that.

You also said the NFL wouldn’t give an MVP to a QB that plays on the west coast

I would personally love McCoy, provided he’s given a clean bill of health. His play reminds me of what we got from Ramsey early on. Pair him up with a FA (Dean?) and we can transform this defense.

He's not. Its the same shit in different threads. Takes a counterpoint to the discussion that makes absolutely no sense, or drags that point in to a thread focusing on something else. Why? Just to cause senseless arguements

It's why I wouldn't mind a trade down from 13 to say 16-18. Gives you an extra day 3 pick to address needs so you can possibly go BPA at 29 and say 17. Now, if they can still get Boston with that first pick, it would be a great move.

I saw some good in Durant but so little of McCreary.
I chose Forbes because I’m ok with him as CB4/5 and he is under contract for another year with $2.5m dead cap (he looked better than DWill and more available than Spoon but maybe not a good reason to keep him).

Yes but is the 'they' McVay and Snead? I can't imagine that.

If it's this Chris Wecht guy's opinion ... I CAN imaging that.
If Wecht thinks releasing Parkinson makes sense, I think Wecht is fucking clueless.

By-the-way, I did a quick check, and Wecht is another former-PFF guy ... That is ALL I needed to know.
When I first read this stuff this week, I too, thought this was just another pimply faced kid trying to be clever and get clickbait.

I just finished watching the NFCCG before I put my NFL+ subscription on pause. Between that game and the previous one vs the seahawks, Parkinson had some untimely, ugly drops. All things being considered, dropsies can get you booted in a heartbeat. Just ask Pharoh Cooper and coming soon, XSmith.

I know Parkinson had some really good games and a couple truly sensational catches this year, but those critical drops made me wince.

Personally, I would not let Parkinson go. McVay, OTOH, might think otherwise.

Entirely reasonable/possible.
I would be ecstatic.

What is the fascination with McCreary? Nothing against the guy, but his sample size and contributions were small.
Do the Rams really want to be moving around a proven commodity (and recently re-signed) Lake so McCreary can get onto the field?

Sure, if the price is right, bring him back; but he represents better depth and STs right now—not an answer to fielding a better 11 on defense.
I thought he was awesome. He didn't make any splash plays, but he was rarely a liability. You need those guys on your team to. The guys who just do the right thing every down. We play a lot of dime, so we need two slot types anyway. Right?

Agree wholeheartedly. We DO need those types…for nickel and dime packages, depth, and STs. Should Lake go down again, I would not complain if McCreary stepped in. I was not impressed with Wallace last year in that role.
…but I am NOT for forcing McCreary onto the field at Lake’s expense and I think the Rams can do better when it comes to upgrading the STARTING secondary.

Spoiler alert:
I’ll be coming out with such a plan in my revised mock.
