CB & DL in rd 1 certainly improves the pass defense and defense overall, especially if they CB is a complete CB, playing the run & pass equally well.
If the Rams don’t go WR in R1 - I’d like to see them figure out how to get one of the Indiana WRs in R2.

Any interest in Trey Hendrickson? He is a FA. Does he take a team friendly deal to join a winner in sunny LA?
Guys settled for 1 year contracts the last 2 years IIRC because the Bungles aren't offering him enough money. Not sure that's a guy to take a team friendly deal but stranger things have happened.

If they're not gonna pay Young then I wouldn't be paying Hendrickson either. This draft has so many good edges that it seems stupid to pay an older one.

I like the idea of Trey Hendrickson. The off-season is for fanfiction, right? People want Verse to get better? Bring in competition for snaps. Also, it's the Dodger strategy of not just adding a player, but also keeping other teams from getting him.

Inspired by the Howie Roseman method, 3 yrs./91 million - but it's 1 + 2 option years, with just the first 2 years guaranteed with void years to 2032 (below). Evidently, you can have guaranteed "option" years. To get Trey to accept just a 2 year contract, probably have to overpay a bit. So, it's $63.4M for 2 years, with cap hits of 9.95M, 13.495M and 41.34M - yes, 2 years plus a dead cap year. This might be close to accurate caponomics, or not, IDK/IDC. Remember, it's not your money!

I know he's a free agent, but Hendrickson seems like more of a trade deadline type of acquisition to me. See how the season is going and then strike if needed. Especially in a deep EDGE draft class.

I guess I'm just not a fan or bringing in older big names during the offseason. I prefer the under the radar Poona Ford type of acquisitions.

Also, Verse is like a copy of Hendrickson, not sure we want another pocket pusher. Would much rather have a speed guy to compliment Verse.

I have trouble endorsing drafting a DL in the 1st that has very little pass rush ability. The man is damn good at run defense, but very lacking at rushing the QB. 2nd round yes. But he won't get to our pick.
Nobody cares about power on the lines until late in a playoff game when you're getting pounded. I haven't looked deep into the group, there may be a lot of good run stuffers late. But McDonald has the kind of power on the DL that can move iOL around and eat up doubles.

I agree that the Rams should give themselves an opportunity for a trade deadline pick up. That would allow for either backfilling a critical injury or giving the offense or defense, a little extra juice to push through the remainder of the season. Neither of those were necessary in 2025 as the Rams had no significant injuries nor one position that could’ve given the defense some much needed juice. The defense was about 3 players short and the offense was pretty set.

Well there was Sauce. But I am glad we didn't go get him.

Even big ugly NT get some sacks I wouldn't worry about him to much and no he's unlikely to be there in the 2nd. He might not even make it to 29.

The more I look at these guys the more I like Jamel Dean and I'd take Montaric Brown as a 2nd FA CB.

Yeah Dean's a perfect fit. Instantly solves a massive problem for our defense. And the nice thing here is that even though he stands out for most teams that need a corner in FA, the Rams are 100% a top contender so if they want Dean I'd say they're the favorite to get him.

Also I agree we need more than one corner in FA. Probably need that second option who can factor in as primary depth. And even then we'd still be wise to draft a corner up high, let's say within that top 100 picks. That's the price of a one season rebuild of the corner room, unfortunately.

I think we should bring McCreary back. Even in his limited snaps he faired better than the rest of our guys.

Even if we sign the 2 like I mentioned I still want one in free agency. D Williams should be gone to save money so the rookie would really be CB4 with the 2 vets and Lake playing his role. That is unless the rookie presses Brown out at some point which would be great but with the 2 vets we don't force it which seems more the Rams MO.

I'm fine with that if the price is right. I wouldn't be averse to him as our new slot, or primary backup for the slot. But he's gonna need to be cheap. Good thing for the Rams is they got a good look at his work ethic and attitude last year so they should be able to nail down a good value range for him.

Presume you meant to say draft in your first sentence. And I agree. I still hope they target the SDSU kid. He adjusted quite well during Senior Bowl week and I think has a bright future.
