Paying BB a significant salary when to date his typical season is either being a non-factor or turning it on during the latter half of said season, would be reckless. The dude has talent, no doubt about it. But I question his heart and that my friends is a bad reservation to have in one's mind going into FA.

On top of that this is a very deep DL draft. So I'd continue stacking young studs who do not require the coaching staff to challenge them to produce. Go get a widebody run stuffer midrounds and spend that cap space on something else we need.

100%

BBIII is an intriguing player. As others have pointed out, you look at the "potential" and it is off the charts but he's been nothing more than inconsistent for us. I have to remind myself that this is his contract year and he's obviously playing hard for $$$. We've seen it a 100 times before and every time these guys play for money, they end up on a average to crappy team that overpays and they underperform. BBIII is also probably a product is his surroundings. Having Tuner, Verse, Fiske, and Young next to him is going to help his game. But on a below average Dline he is just another dude. If I were the Rams FO I would proceed with extreme caution. Offer him a fair salary, if he chooses to walk for a payday on a crap team, then we have our answer.

Still takes bad angles, he is slow to react, and misses a lot of tackles where I see him eating grass like a cow.

But yeah, he is playing better.

Isn't hard to go from an F to a D. (well maybe I will give him a C).

I will say there have been a few plays every game where I say - hey good job Roseboom.

Over his last 4 games I haven't seen too many missed tackles or bad angles. McVay brought it up on his Monday night show. He's playing like he knows the defense now. Fast and violent. Hopefully he continues to trend in the right direction.

Scary thing is he just admitted his play picked up after the staff challenged him. In the middle of his contract season. Do the math on that one.

Truth is Brown is one dumb MFer for not giving it all he has in his contract season. So what does he do when paid. Fuuuuuck that. :laugh3:

He'd be paid like an every-down lineman. And I'd rather sign the guys to extensions next year. You have to make sure the bedrock pieces are in place: I can't imagine that Nacua isn't going to get a massive contract next year. And I haven't even mentioned K-Will yet; he'll be twenty-five all of next year, his contract ends next year, and it'll be a tough call to re-sign him or not.
The extensions would kick in after rookie deals, no? And, again.. that’s all AFTER next season.

It wouldn't be the first time an extension has been announced two years away from a rookie year for a later-round player.

Actually now that I looked it up to be sure I cannot find Brown saying that, so maybe I am misconstruing things. I did find a quote where McVay mentioned the staff had to challenge the front. Which is different from what I said.

But still. His play was dog shit early this season. The front got challenged and then his play started picking up and he found his midseason form just like he did last year.

I get that, but I don't think they need to be that aggressive.

If Cooper Kupp is traded - and I think it's likely because there was a lot of smoke - I could see them extend Nacua.

Dropoff from Jones to Speights is now quite minimal. Jones is stronger between the tackles and better on the blitz. But Speights has better range, is pretty strong himself between the tackles, and is cheap as fuck.

Rams made a good decision to ship Jones' ass to Tennessee. Enjoy getting lowballed in FA you MFer. Because ain't no team gonna pay you big money when you're an early down ILB with a suspect knee.

I saw quite a few in the Philadelphia game.

And he was so slow in reacting to Hurtz running to the left.

A faster reacting linebacker would have stopped Hurtz a couple times before getting the first down on a couple 3rd and longs.
