Hmmmm, this post is dripping with sarcasm but it's not in blue font so I'm not sure if he's joking or he's serious. Help me out @OldSchool

.
You don't recall the thread somebody started after like week 2 that it was a mistake to give him the DC job and it was nepotism or some other bullshit story? Lets see here...... found it

So let’s see. Shula inherited a defense with 8-9 new starters. Half rooks or 2nd year players. And he’s expected to hit the ground running? We are seeing evolution and refinement from Shula resulting in a top 10 defense that may ascend higher this season. I’m more worried Shula will be the next Apple picked off the McVay apple tree by another team after next year.

Well the Defense lacks talent at CB. Tough to win with average talent there. Linebacker remains an issue as well. I like Rozeboom but he should be depth and a core special teams guy. Rams are wasting a lot of money right now on the O Line. Going to take another off season and then we'll see. Not sure how you add a QB, Corner talent, OT talent in one off season because you need high picks for all of these positions. If we somehow win the division then what?

Defense has been slowly improving as the season goes on. But its a young defense still learning. A game like last night should not be unexpected. They were clearly overmatched by a legit Superbowl caliber team. They will learn from it. They aren't a good defense. They aren't a bad defense.

They will have the occasional game where they look really bad. You gotta expect that from a team so young. They will also have occasional games where they look really good. Perhaps what they learned from last night will help them in a couple weeks against a team that is clearly better.

Is it really as hard as Snead makes it look to find talent at the position?

This.

I am losing patience with the offense, rapidly.

The defense held Detroit to 20 points in regulation.

Held Miami (fully healthy) to 23 - their lowest output in the past four weeks, which includes games against the Cardinals and Bills.

Held the Packers to 24 AND scored a TD.

They've only had a few really bad games - Cardinals, Bears (bc of the opponent), and now Eagles.

Considering the financial investment in the offense and our vet players, at full health we should have beaten the Lions, Packers and Dolphins - we basically were close to healthy against the Lions and Dolphins. So that is very frustrating.

Our defense has been good enough for us to be 8-3 right now.

It’s been like this DAY ONE BRO !!

You. An look at that Philly game. Arizona-yes Jared Verse will tell you he missed a few assignments.

Kyler Murray is a different breed. Now you look at J. Hurt & those QB’s don’t make it easy.

A TD NO’s - D. Williams gets burned deep ! 14-12 & let’s see what happens?? Can the D” stop them ?

The secondary is holding this unit back. Allowing run yards is irritating but what leads to points is getting beat in the pass game. I don't think we have the pieces to fix it either. We are totally dependent on a very good pass rush to cover our secondary, who are terrible.

I think Williams is a solid zone corner. Durant is a bit more up and down so definitely a cut below him. We need a stud who can take on the best matchup, at a minimum. Problem is none of our corners are the guy you want on the other team's best draw, they're all guys you want on the second or even third option at best.

And our safeties feel like they're all box types who are only good at very short term man coverage on non-elite options. We don't have anyone with any sort of feel for deep middle. None of these guys anticipate worth a shit in zone either, it's wait for the completion then maybe they'll wrap up.

Then on top of all that they're undisciplined and seem to fuck up on key downs as well. I hate watching them when other teams resort to throwing. Ball goes in the air I never feel confident, and usually there's a good reason for that.

The corners on this team are an absolute disaster. Williams seems to have fallen off a cliff.. and Durant just doesn't seem to have "it".. when it comes to coverage.

Number one priority in this offseason for the team.. should be CB.
Getting another OT is a big priority.. but if you rolled into next season with AJ and Hav.. you'd still have a pretty good set of tackles.
At corner? There's literally nothing on the roster worth bringing back. Nothing.

When you're signing Jaguar castoffs, it probably isn't good.

I feel this is a little exaggerated. If we got a CB1, I'd feel fine with Williams as the #2 CB.

Williams by all accounts was quite good last year. I didn't watch him much personally aside from the London game where I saw the Jags and thought he looked decent. But his PFF scores were good and Jags fans this off-season when I checked their fan boards were all very upset they did not match the Rams' offer. I think the issue is he is being asked to do too much. He is not meant to cover the AJ Browns of the world. Total size mis-match. But he has to because he is all we have. He looked bad today, but it is the first time all year (AJ Brown massacre excepted) I thought that, and we are in week 13. The other side gets paid too. If we could get a stud CB, I think he would function very nicely as CB2. I don't think any of our other CBs are starters in a good NFL secondary.

He was exceptional last year the Jags fans were very upset they didn't retain him. He hasn't matched that this year obviously but yes the Williams signing on paper when it happened was a very good signing.
