Doesn’t change the fact that teams have taken their first series to the house 4 times in 9 games.
No it doesn't. It is amplified by the fact our offense hasn't scored squat in the first quarter and just a few ticks shy of 8 points per game in the first half. And where the defense seems to tighten up over the final 3 quarters of the game (particularly the 4th Q, 4.5 PPG), the offense is just a little less lethargic throughout. But not only are they lethargic (18 ppg....a tick more than a TD and 3 FGs), four times in the last 7 games they've given the opposing offense the ball, near midfield or on our side of the 50 in the 2nd half. We can bitch about the D allowing a TD on the first drive in 4 of 9 games but it's pretty clear to me, we're sucking because the offense is sucking. However, if the offense wakes up, the OL tightens up, we can win more games than we lose over the final 8 weeks with the way the D is playing. Hell, give them a lead and see what they can do with it. We've had the lead twice and been tied once after 3 quarters and haven't lost any of them.

Some will do anything to defend McVay and his terrible offense. This defense is good enough to make a deep playoff run, and it's only getting better.

The offense has scored 157 points and has allowed 7. That's a net of 150 (16.7 PPG)
The defense has scored 22 points. The offense has scored just 15 PPG more than our defense!
The defense has allowed 202 and scored 22. That's a net of 20 PPG allowed.
IMO, if you allow 20 PPG, you should win 10 games or more**. (The 18 teams who allowed 20 PPG or less the last 3 years averaged 10.4 wins).

**Of the teams (18) who allowed 20 PPG or less the last 3 years, 15 had winning records and 10 of them had double digit wins.
Of the teams (13) who had 3 non-offensive scores last year (like the Rams already have this year), 8 made the postseason.

.

While the numbers are nice to see we can see with our own eyes watching games that the defense is keeping the Rams in games and for the most part, giving the offense the chance to win games in the 4th qtr.

However we can also see that the offense is a steaming pile of shit. Apart from the Vikings game, the 4th qtr against the whiners and overtime against the seagulls.

If the offense can just make some freaking plays to win games the Rams would be leading the division.
