Anyways,I’ve been thinking outside the box as usually.

First off I’m not right all the time, but I do throw out a couple of views.Bobby Evans is a wasted roster spot basically at this point.IMO he was the main reason Stafford had to close up shop so fast & why The Rams lost to Tampa. I know everyone has there own view.

The next part is IMO AJ Acuri will get a chance to play the next 3 games & his improvement we’ll be seen by next preseason Big Time!
—I will continue to say A’ Jackson is The Rams RG next season if he’s health is 100%. I give The Rams credit for how he developed from being a UDRFA.
Putting a positive sprinkle on things as they are.

Rams need to really think about the Mayfield situation. He's coming into the prime of his career.

The rams have the ability to open up over 80 million in cap space with how some deals are structured and also restructures that said it doesn't mean they should. Some yes but we also need to factor in the cap going up.

If it went up 10 million that's already 13.5 without a move and maybe I'm wrong but with extra game and playoff spots Amazon YouTube money is flowing so 10 million could be an understatement.

C'mon Boni, it's Case COOKUS....not Cockus. Poor guy has probably heard stuff like that his whole life.

This is my priority list for signing 2023 Rams UFAs (so ERFAs such as Mike Hoecht and Marquise Copeland are not on the list).

I’m considering value, age and anticipated market price in this analysis.

1. Greg Gaines
Easy choice. Gaines is a consistent player who anchors our run defense, which has performed well this year (4th in yards/game and yards/carry allowed). He’s also shown some improvement as a pass rusher (4 sacks). A very successful draft pick for the Rams.

2. Matt Gay
Its easy to take kickers for granted, but you notice when you don’t have a solid player at the position. Gay has been consistent and has a strong leg. At 28, he’s got plenty of good years left. Don’t want another parade of kicking candidates.

3. Baker Mayfield
There are a lot of caveats here. Bringing Mayfield back only makes sense if (1) he’s willing to take a back-up role, and (2) he’s willing to take back-up money. He might have better options, but if not, I think he could become a better QB working with Sean McVay for a while.

4. Nick Scott
Scott is a solid player who will likely be very affordable. I’m certainly hoping that others (Russ Yeast, Quentin Lake) push him to a nickel/dime role in the future, but he’s a guy I think is worth keeping in the meantime.

5. David Edwards
Edwards did not play well before his concussions, and there is a medical question that must be answered before any decision is made about his future. If, however, he’s projected to be ready to go next year, I would not be so quick to jettison him. Again, price is a big factor. If he’s willing to take a modest contract to compete for a role (potentially a back-up), I’d welcome him back. After all, he was a starter on a championship team a year ago.

6. A’Shawn Robinson
Robinson was a beast in the Super Bowl last year, and I’d really like him back, but I’m not sure we can afford to pay him and Gaines. From a health standpoint, his torn meniscus should not hinder his free agency prospects, so he may command a significant price. If his market is not so strong, though, I’d keep his number on speed dial.

GROUP MAYBE (i.e. sign them only if they’re willing to take minimal deals): Taylor Rapp, Troy Hill, Malcolm Brown, Brandon Powell, Oday Aboushi

GROUP SEE-YA (seen enough, time to move on): Bobby Evans, Matt Skura, Riley Dixon, David Long, Ty Nsekhe
No to Edwards. He’s played poorly for two consecutive years.

No to Rapp. He’s too inconsistent

The rest looks good

Here is a negative thought. If Mayfield wants to be a starter (likely), he could be signed by the Niners.

They can move on from Garapolo. They’ve seen he can handle the offense. Lance can be written off as a mistake.

It looks like the 9ers will go to the NFC Championship gm. with what they have now & Brock Purdy is the best QB they have had this season.

Not sure what it would take to keep #17 however I would not let him depart this season without a long term contract...I see magic :bueller:in the air between him & McVay.

To get Lance 9ers sent their 2021, 2022, and 2023 first-round choices, along with a third-round pick in the 2022 draft to the Dolphins. Very BIG MISTAKE!

They're not going to be feeling pressed to bring guys back from this team. Gaines is the only one who has consistently played up to snuff and he is probably going to cost too much. Our DL is all about AD. Henderson is a fantastic DL coach. So reload with young and cheap kids, next man up, and focus on the secondary which is going to be much more important for our defense. Safety in particular, and a corner. So Scott, as much as I like him, is simply not a difference maker. We need guys who can play different looks intelligently pre-snap and swoop on balls in the air and give us turnovers, not guys who are going to stand there and then break once the ball is on the way for a completion. Anticipation is required at safety.

Gay they will undoubtedly prioritize of that list. He should be the top priority of the holdovers. But after him the only other priority will be trying to get Baker locked up on a short deal that benefits both parties. Rest of these clowns can go. I don't hate them or anything but their time in horns is over IMO.

I am in agreement with you - with one exception - I'd sign cornerback Grant Haley. I like what I've seen from him.

At safety, Nick Scott - like Taylor Rapp - doesn't break up passes, lacks natural safety instincts and offers no over-the top coverage help to our cornerbacks.

Our safety play has been a huge liability this season, particularly against the pass and we are badly in need of an upgrade at safety.

Welcome aboard to the best Rams Fan Forum in the universe!

I agree fully with you.

Ram Fans got an opportunity to see a real bonified playmaking safety last season in the playoffs from a very old wore down past prime & retired Eric Weddle. Does say a ton about just how bad DC Morris's safeties were & are.

The 2021 starting duo Jordan Fuller & Taylor Rapp were far below par in the NFL. This season past starter Jordan Fuller picked up from where he left off (INJURED) in the regular season loss 2021 9ers game & has been injured for all but one game this season with a hurting hammy.

I see no reason for the Rams Org to spend what few dimes of cap funds they have on resigning our two starting 2022 safeties UFA Rapp/Scott in March. Maybe Lake/Yeast can bring some real significant play from the safety post in 2023.

@payote75 I read an article the other day that said with the YouTube contact the cap is expected to increase about 78 million in the next 7 years. The cap isn't going to jump up a lot in any year. They've been saying it would for 5+ years now and it never does. The cap jumping by 20 million is just like the Cardinals being a super bowl contender. It's always "real soon" but never real.

So on a side note, the Raiders are selling Carr, Jacobs, and Waller jerseys 50% off.......out of all these available, I'm really intrigued by Waller at the right price if we are looking to upgrade our TE room. I do get there is always a concern with his medical history but if we can keep him healthy, I'd think he'd be an upgrade for sure. I'd love to get Jacobs but feel like his price tag could get outta hand as he balled out but Waller didn't since he wasn't on the field.

Darren Waller Signed a 3-year $51 million contract extension including an $825,000 signing bonus, $22,000,000 guaranteed, and an average annual salary of $17 million with Las Vegas (LV) a few months back.

Yes but if the Raiders are looking to trade him, they could eat a huge part of that contract if they are having buyer's remorse. Exactly why I said it depends on cost. His addition is intriguing but we'd probably have to get rid of Higbee to do so. I'm of the thought it doesn't happen but who knows what these teams are thinking. I mostly posted it as I found it interesting and telling that their jerseys are selling at half price lol

They just said the other day that it's already increasing by 10 million at least this year so we will have to wait. Also not concerned there are ways to open up to 80-90 million so not concerned.
