So the hit probably stopped his heart, he was recessitated but his lungs are not working with out manual ventilation. Hope he recovers but this seems like there may be something deeper that happened after his heart stopped.

I was told by a friend that a hit to the chest exactly when the heart has an electrical pulse can cause Arrhythmia.

I wonder if this was what happen to him.

I just hope he is able to recover fully.

To shoot down another misconception about last night here's Troy Vincent on the alleged 5 minute warmup to resume.

"I’m not sure where that came from," Vincent said. "Frankly, there was no time period for the players to get warmed up. Frankly, the only thing that we asked was that [referee] Shawn [Smith] communicate with both head coaches to make sure they had the proper time inside the locker room to discuss what they felt like was best.

"So, I’m not sure where that came from. Five-minute warmup never crossed my mind, personally. And I was the one. ... that was communicating with the commissioner. We never, frankly, it never crossed our mind to talk about warming up to resume play. That’s ridiculous. That’s insensitive. And that’s not a place that we should ever be in."

The league postponed the game without any timetable for a make-up date.

Yea it's called commotio cordio. But it doesn't have to happen exactly at an electrical impulse, it's just from trauma to the chest causing damage to the heart.

The other issue is how soon did they difibulate him? I've read that has to happen quickly. The more time delayed, the greater the chance for more severe damage. It may have been more than 5 minutes, which would not be good.

Most commotio cordio is caused by small objects like balls or hockey pucks hitting just the right spot. If you look at the hit, the receiver led with his shoulder right to the chest. So not so much the velocity of the hit but maybe where he was hit. But yea the fact that his heart is still beating but his lungs are not working I believe would lead to something underlying that's happening.

Fucking scary. The game means nothing. The players don't care one bit about the seeding. There is only one thing the league can do and that is to cancel the game. Call it a draw move on. If anyone complains about it, it will be some dick gambler or fan.

The Kids life is in the balance. Might not ever be the same. One thing for certain though, he was taken good care of and delt with fast. Also he will get the best care money can buy and a ton of support from teammates NFL and Fans. So he will have the best chance possible to recover to what he was.
