1 He’s a stat padder for sure.
2 He had McCarthy who was no slouch as an OC and QB coach. He also had Garrett who was not a very good HC but was a damn good OC and QB coach
3 Zeke in his prime, Dez Bryant, Cole Beasley, Jason Witten, Terrance Williams, Amari Cooper, Tavon Austin, Michael Gallup, Randall Cobb…. The dude’s cupboards were not exactly bare, plus he had THE best O-line in football for several years.
4 He has an OK arm and is NOT very elusive anymore
5 True

So you think McVay is going to want to take on a truly mediocre QB that has only gotten his team into the playoffs 3 times with very mixed results with some pretty good talent on both sides of the ball so he can have him for a couple seasons?

Dak is Kirk Cousins with slightly better legs. No thank you.
One of the funniest sports nicknames ever in my opinion was Stat Padfford for our dear own Stafford.

So Micah needs a back-anotomy? What a surprise... ~ Jerrah

Feels like 2 and 3 prove my point, I'm not sure anyone who's payed attention to McCarthy's career thinks he's a good OC and he was maybe a good QB coach when he moved to the Packers but he stopped iterating after about 3 years. In fact he IS a slouch and offloaded many of his duties as HC in his final years in GB and barely switched up his static, no motion original freaking recipe west coast offense when he came to Dallas. Dez at his best was a freelancer who ran poor routes but had fantastic athleticism. Jason was good, the rest are cannon fodder. Oddly enough, Cooper had many of the same problems as Dez. At least CeeDee can do great things as a big slot.

Anyways, it's a moot point since that contract means he's not going anywhere. But if it was tradable, yes, I see a world where McVay wants to work with him.

I do agree, Zeke was good, that offensive line was great but his weapons sucked.

Okay, let's put aside the contract issues:

1) Prescott is a top 15 QB with seasons in the top 10, as late as 2023 he lead NFL in TDs and had the 2nd highest EPA per dropback
2) He's never had a good play caller the entire time he's been in Dallas, he's often had to press (makes mistakes there) to make plays
3) His supporting cast at skill positions have been severely lacking, often only having 1 good target and a bunch of also rans
4) He's still got a very good arm and mobility
5) He's never been in the Shanahan/McVay system and I think if he were to come here (not realistic) McVay would return to diverse play-action scheme which would set him free

That being said, I don't super love him this late into his career and would only take him for a 2-3 season rental. He certainly hasn't willed his team to wins in the postseason but not many QBs can and I'm not sure I put it all on him, he's really lacked support when it comes to weapons and playcalling.

BTW, his career passer rating (I don't love this stat) is actually better than Staffords!

While I think you over rate what he's had to work with, I do think he'd be a realistic option. If the Cowboys drafted a QB then Dak would be available in a year. Its more realistic than dreaming about Joe Burrow being traded to the Rams.

Hey I'm not evening arguing he's the best or right option, just that there would be a desire to work with him.

Dak lover.

I can’t see where Dak would ever enter the conversation, much less provoke interest.
By the time he’s feasibly available, he’ll be 35 and making 50 mill per.
The way his contract is set up, it’s guaranteed.
He’ll be Russell Wilson at that point.

work with dak???

lol...

even the cowboy fans i talk to don't think he's that good or worth that contract...

it's an easy pass for me..

go rams

I can honestly say that you’re my favourite poster on this forum.

The above means nothing… yet has a deeper depth.

I asked ChatGPT to generate a post in the style of SoRam. You be the judge of the results:

I keep saying this & nobody listens so maybe I’m wrong but I’m not ?? Rams traded Quinn which was smart & dumb same time cause Floyd came later & was already there before then after ?? He had the better year AFTER Quinn left but before Donald’s peak maybe unless it was the Superbowl year which I still think was cause of Von not Floyd but you need BOTH so it’s not one or the other ??

People forget Rams almost gave up TOO FIRSTS for that DE from Carolina & if they had done it they would’ve missed on Verse or whoever came later maybe Jefferson or Akers can’t recall but it’s the same draft I think ?? You see how Les Snead dials up 5th round picks into 1st round talent but then again he misses on 1st round talent like Tavon Austin who I liked but didn’t like at the same time cause he was small ??

Then Stan paying ONE DOLLAR for SOFI that’s not just rent it’s leverage cause Jerry Jones told him after the Herschel Walker trade how to get LA back which I know cause I followed that vote from being a fly on the wall or maybe I just read it later same thing ?? Rams BACK to LA meant trade SJ39 to Cowboys but they didn’t do it when Dallas had TWO FIRSTS which could’ve been Parsons years before Parsons was even drafted ??
