Avila, Puka, Turner and Young will be eligible for extensions next offseason. Rams don't have to but letting them go into next season not knowing if they will extend them can have adverse affects. Especially if they hold out during camp. Can we keep all 4 beyond their rookie contracts?
Do we want to keep all four? I doubt they do.

I'd sign Puka and Turner to early extensions with a wait and see on how Avila does this year. It's a no on Young - he's replaceable.

We shall see.
I would put most of it to injuries, and, guys can have down years.
His pass blocking was terrible in stretches.
I expect him to bounce back in a big way.
Turner and Puka are sure to get good offers.
I think Young and Avila are up in the air.
I agree that Avila's injuries are likely the biggest factor to why he had a down year. Although the positional switch experiment couldn't have helped. We really need a big year from him.

Young is still developing as a player and we shall see if he progresses.
Stewart was drafted to help fill the void left by Hoeght leaving.....but, he may end up eventually replacing Young.

That's my prediction: Stewart will replace Young.

I'm really high on Stewart. I like Young but he doesn't create pressure or sacks - he's more of a cleanup guy. And I don't see him developing into more than that.

Yeah, Young isn't a bad player, but, he isn't a difference maker yet.
Hes a solid guy, probably best suited to be a very good rotational guy.
Jackson is another edge prospect that could be interesting. I loved the pick when he was drafted, but, when he played he looked a bit stiff and slow footed.
The sample size is too small to really make a judgement however.
Lots of young defensive players Im looking forward to watching this year.
