Ok, I'll just shut up now....
My bad
Still and all his staff has ben purged each year without fail and he has *generally* left the door open for folks to look for better opportunity
If I remember correctly, the vast majority of those were either promotions that he couldn't stop, or coaches he didn't want around anyway.

One quick add...

For those of you who think McVay is running away from a rebuild.. um... so, you think our Rams are gonna collapse next year?????

Stafford is coming back and there's no reason Donald wouldn't come back if Sean was. They have more cap flexibility than most think and health was the biggest challenge this year.

So.. people selling the "he's afraid of tough times" line are selling a bunch of bullshit.

Working the lines with the Saints to get a deal done for S. Payton.
A coach like Payton or Harbaugh will likely come in with a GM of their choice. If either of them are in conversation with the Rams it would be calling Kroenke direct to discuss maybe giving him a pitch before they make their choice.

McVay is really putting Kroenke in a shitty position here. That's the only thing pissing me off with all this. If you want a break take a fucking break. But you shouldn't need a few months to figure that out while your organization is on hold. Make the fucking call dude.

I agree. This can't drag on for a week or so. Needs to be done soon that way we can start making calls. Frankly no coach on the team has me excited about being HC.

If anything involves Morris being interim coach while McVay recharges then it's going to be very depressing next season.

May be right, may be wrong but thought it an interesting take. Especially about the telling his assistants look for work (lived that scenario in the late 90s).

"Just saw 'em knockin' down Miller Lite and smokin' Cancer Rockets!"...priceless.

His take on that McVay wants changes in the coaching staff but does not want to fire them, is the same thought I have had.

That’s not us saying that. It’s people reporting he feels that way. If in fact he doesn’t want to stick around to fix the roster deficiencies then he’s earned that criticism but we’re just speculating at this point.

Yeah it was an interesting take. One that I hadn't thought of.

I think Payton and Snead can work together, Snead is very similar to Micky Loomis imo in how they work.

That I was I posted "Don't let your strength become your weakness." Sean McVay is all about relationships and allowing his assistants to move about plus staying loyal to some he shouldn't. Time to make changes, for one and give up the play calling duties too in order to alleviate some of the stress.

If that's true, I'm very surprised and disappointed. McVay has always seemed to have his act together as a leader of men. Looking them in the eye and telling them they are not part of his team moving forward (while supporting them all he can in their landing somewhere) is just part of being a boss.

This seems like an EXTREME tactic for something like simple staff makeover. Hell, even GM used to lose 10% of their staff annually just to keep things fresh. What's he going to do, threaten to retire every time he wants some new staff? Not a very sustainable approach for someone as sharp as McVay.

Is it people reporting it... or is it people reporting on speculation?

Eh as per usual i think cowherd is reaching. There probably is a "story behind the story."

But McVay doesn't seem like the type who is afraid to fire people - he got rid of Goff just like that.

I think his reasons are close to the entire reasons. He could be having personal problems from the job stress - i think this is closer to the truth.

But just speculation...

That's not fair dude. He never said he's gonna take months, in fact he said the opposite. I'd expect a decision by the end of the week or early next.

Yeah we heard that he might be out when the core is out over a year ago. This is not a new concept and could be related more to the fact that he was feeling burnt out just as much as anything to do with roster rebuilding.

No one on this board likely knows the real complete truth. However, people questioning or being critical of him leaving are not without reason.

true - but McVay put himself solidly on the fence with his last press conference

which just leaves the rest of the fans, media, ect to speculate.
Yes he gave everybody plenty to speculate but no reason to assume anything. What I don't get is the man is having issues with something. He turned this SOSA franchise around. Went to 2 SBs and won 1. Gave fans the pleasure of being a Championship fanbase. But some fans are trashing him like he's Jeff fucking Fisher. Media, I can understand. They"re all wannabes. Fans? Some might call it classless.
