So I’m in the camp of agreeing 100% with going for it. I’m also in agreement with a run since it was only 1 yard to 1st down. I just think they picked the wrong gap to run to as it looked like the defense was clearly geared towards an outside in attack with intent of clogging the middle. Motion Nacua or Whit and running off Ajax may have produced better results for picking up 1+ yards.

really after all these years we don't have a redzone solution. anyone here think the rams can score in the red zone to the point of at least we get 3? I don't. that's an issue.

Yes Sean, we're all sick of that play call. When you line up and show the formation and the very obvious play multiple times after timeouts, change the fucking play! He telegraphed what we were going to do to the defense multiple times over and it rightfully so got stuffed. That play call has been getting picked apart by all the talking heads, it was such a pathetic call that he had full control to change multiple times.

I try not to criticize going for it and not making it, because I don't want to criticize going for it and making it. If you don't like the decision that's fine, but I don't care for the cherry picking aspect of all that.

When your team goes for it I am of the mind that good fanhood requires an adult mindset that accepts the potential failure.

Agreed. Just need to learn from the failure and adjust.

There is that.
OTOH - my emotions won't be over it for a few more days, apparently.....
Pre-game you got the huge spread.... much of the chater is the rams are good enough to win... then this egg gets laid.
Makes me seriously wonder.

Yeah don't get me wrong... I am fucking livid still. Gonna be pissed until we beat these fucks later this year. If we can beat them which who knows.

Just another bone head play call by our beloved coach. Glad we have him, hopefully he will rally the guys and they’ll bounce back. 2 excruciatingly painful kick in the nuts losses.. we shall see.
Lotta folks railing on McVay for that call, but the Rams were successful running the ball on a similar play on a 4th down earlier in the game.
We’re all ok with THAT call, right?

If we can’t get ONE LOUSY YARD to win a game…

The Rams made so many mistakes in that game. That play was just one of the many times they failed to execute:
They make an extra point and the last FG is for the game, not a tie. KW doesn’t cough up the ball at the 1 yard line and that game is over. Those two irk me more than that last play (which I presumed would fail, no matter what the call).

Im Looking at this game as another wake up call not a death sentence. But miss too many wake up calls and you miss the party!!

This is so spot on.

The Philly game should have been a wakeup call.

Hell, the Colts game should have been a wakeup call despite the fact that we won, given how bad the play was for long stretches of the game.

Now this is another wakeup call.

How many times will McVay hit the snooze button?

Me as soon as Williams secured the ball. You could see the whiners had already won the line of scrimmage and there was nowhere to run.

I'm disappointed that Stafford didn't change the play when he saw the defense.
Also, I'm afraid that McVay is turning into Marty Shottenhiemer.:wow2:

There is a huge difference running that play at the 40 yard line and running it at the 10 yard line.

Defense can play a hell of a lot closer at the 10 yard line than at the 40 yard line.

In all cases I look at the risk reward ratio. In this case if they kicked a field goal there are 2 things to consider. 1. our field goals are anything but a sure thing. 2 If we make it and tie, they get the ball back and have plenty of time to kick another field goal, leaving the rams with no time to score and stopping them isn't a sure thing either.

So in my mind, there was no other choice but to go for it. I would have preferred something other than a run. I hate projecting to the D what you are doing unless you are fooling. If you are going to run their, spread them out. The thought that if you can't make a yard you deserve to lose is stupid as an excuse for failing at that attempt. When a game is on the line, you pull out your best plays, not a play that you have failed at way to many times this season doing something similar.

Pretty much the exact opposite happened to the Seahawks.... Lynch have Carroll an earful!!?

Yeah every situation is different. Stafford was having a great 2nd half hitting 6 different targets. McVay knows KW has problems holding on the the ball. And then later McVay goes for it on 4th and one and gives it to KW again and he gets stuffed at the LOS. As soon as I saw them line up for that play I shouted noooooo
