I’m not sold on Simpson at all. But you can make a case for the rams selecting him - whether that’s at 13 or 29.

The top talent is not that crazy high here.
They eventually need a QB.
Next year, sure lots of QBs. But will a guy they like available when they pick.
Getting someone in now, with this staff and learning from stafford is extremely valuable.
If he pans out, you have your QB post Stafford making $5M instead of the 40-70M other teams have to pay their QBs. That’s a huge advantage cap wise and team building around said QB.

If McVay likes him and thinks he can be his starting QB to win in this league, then I’m in. Having extra money (30-65M) to spend on OL, WRs, RBs around him to make him better would be huge. Rather than relying solely on the QB to do everything like mahomes or Allen is forced to do.

Lol, what?
So you're saying its a better indicator of performance against the lowest level of competition? Good grief. Bennett was disappointing in that game and got let off the hook by getting a miracle 2nd chance. Was fun to watch, but folks got to be honest about what he is
Alas, it all works itself out

Btw, Bennett DID actually play with starters in that 1st half, Corum, Xavier Smith, Mumpfield etc
You said he was playing against 2nd and 3rd team or people that wasn't making the team. All I said was that he was also playing with 2nd and 3rd team player too. When did Corum, Smith, and Mumpfield became 1st team starters? He was 8 TD to 2 INT. Tell me which young QB that doesn't have problem coming into this league. I just want to see what he does in new year.

I'd rather take a shot on Simpson then an OT that we keep getting mocked.

So you didn’t watch the game.
Got it

I trust the Rams if they have strong interest in Simpson. My guess is he’s gone middle of R1. Just don’t touch that R1.13 pick for Simpson. While I’d prefer to use R1.29 on a starter/major contributor this year - if the Rams traded up a little to try for Simpson then ok. And If they trade up and he’s gone then use that pick on a better starter than they would have gotten with R1.29.

Agreed

I’ll also add (I feel like I’m talking myself into a Simpson selection lol), people say why pick Simpson if going in for SB with Stafford and it’s a waste of a pick for 2026. But if you think Simpson can take over, he’s so cheap that you could get more 2026 free agents and push a big amount of those cap hits to 2027-2029 when Simpson is only $5M. So it can be a pick for BOTH now & later. Get a top FA CB and WR (maybe even another position too). The cap savings is that great when your stater is in a rookie #13 hit (or even better #29).

But that assumes Simpson can become your starter (if not, ouch).

Worry not! We're not drafting an OT in the 1st.
I know that and you know that, wonder why these draft "experts" don't comprehend that. They see that Havenstein is hanging them up and, without a moment of research, immediately try and draft his "replacement". It's lazy and suggests your just mailing it in to get it done. I enjoy the mocks that actually do their research and know we have a bonafide young RT that played well last year- already on the roster.

Only way they pass is if Aaron Glenn is guaranteed a job no matter the results of this season
Glenn is already a lame duck. He's already replaced a good portion of his coaching staff after one season. They got those 2027 picks for that upcoming QB class. It was the reason they demanded a 2027 1st rounder from the Cowboys for Williams when the Cowboys were offering their 2026 1st rounder.
