Tom Pelissero

“I would be surprised sitting here right now not only if Ty Simpson doesn’t go in the first round. I don’t think Ty Simpson gets out of the first half of Round 1,” Pelissero said.

When talking about which teams could take a chance on Simpson, Pelissero mentioned two: the Jets and the Rams. He wouldn’t rule out the Rams drafting Simpson with the 13th overall pick.

This is one of those situations I want us to take a certain player in Simpson. I couldn't care less I just want to set on the sidelines and watch people melt down. Not sure if popcorn or marshmallows roasting in the flames would be a better snack to see the end of times happen on ROD live :D

The amount of people that are projecting their opinions on to this player and the Rams is truly amazing. "I trust McSnead" and "OMG they can't draft this overrated scrub" it happens daily around here and it's very entertaining. I'm almost hoping we trade up for him to make it worse.

His game imploded, partially due to a non-existent running game and horrendous Offensive line they say. These pundits look past that stuff and take all things into account.

Anyways, with many here dead-set against the thought of taking Simpson at 13, if Rams actually did, would they go off on McVay on what a horrendous move that is or would they quickly PIVOT and see the logic to it. I wonder.........???

I think the pundits are on the “we don’t question Sean McVay and Les Snead” train. They’re too good of evaluators for players that fit their specific system

The positives of us taking Simpson at 13 (I hope we do not) is:
1) McVay is definitely staying several more years; and
2) getting your post Stafford QB1 at a low salary an can pay others big contracts.

Plus saving draft capital that isn’t traded for a different guy.

But I hope that doesn’t happen lol

You do it too. This is in fact what we do here. Among some other things that are less important and entertaining.

It's gonna be funny as hell if we take Simpson. In fact if we do I hereby promise I will buy his jersey. Which would be quite painful for me. That's how sure I am we're not gonna take his overrated ass.
As we sit here today, I think there's a 54.789% chance that's who we take.

Not a trade up! Imagine the meltdowns. I've advocated for Simpson since the fall and even I might meltdown with a trade up. Lol

If the Rams trade up its for Love. If they sit at 13 its either Simpson, Lemon, Tyson, McCoy.

Honestly, if the pick kept McVay as our coach for several more years, I'd be behind it.

I hadn't actually thought about that angle. Surely if McVay pounds the table for him, he wants to coach him for many years.

Not aimed at you CR but I'm pretty sure any one of us could find a few perfect passes by even some of the least accurate QBs in the draft.

Obviously, if we take him, I want him to be that stud McShay thinks he is. But I just don't see him as a QB that can be that #1 guy to lead your team at by far the most important position.
My two cents, I absolutely think he can be a guy who can be your number 1 and play well in this league.

But... I don't know that he'll ever be in the top 12 of QBs in any league year.

With all the recent spending on the defense, which the Rams have not done for a LONG time, it just may be true that they'll take Simpson in the thought they may be in a position the next couple years where the defense may have to win games until Simpson is fully ready. He'll be cost-controlled, thus more money for the defense and O-line. The amount of cap room they'll have in '27 and '28 would allow them to make the rest of the roster that much stronger. I say all this with the hope they DONT take Simpson. But if they do, some recent moves make more sense beyond the "filling the existing holes" in order to go for it next year.
