We've heard them talk about going to Stan for this type of thing before. They've talked about him being receptive and not combative but they have had to sell him on stuff before. He's expressed confidence in the guys but they absolutely get his ok on this type of stuff.
Yes and it surprises me that fans don't realize the owner has to be appraised of this type of thing and will inevitably weigh in with the decision. Imagine being an owner and finding out your boys decided in a bubble to rework a QB's deal to include more money and guaranteed money. It wouldn't require a micromanager to be upset by that. I would fire that GM.

Way I read this Kroenke has probably been weighing in on this since last offseason when the rumors started. And it is possible he said no last offseason or agreed to revisit it and maybe it came to a head now. No idea but the truth will come out after they move Stafford, if that is the decision. And whatever happens the owner absolutely is briefed and has agreed to that decision.

Teams have to go to the owner to spend money, and owners have to have enough liquid for escrow accounts and what not regardless of the cap. It's part of the reason why small market teams can sometimes struggle to compete or in the case of Cinn, Vegas and Ariz, the owners are cheap to boot too

I think the intriguing question is, are any of these guys better than Stetson Bennett.

And Bennett is only ever going to be a backup (if his head's on straight).
Dart to me looks like he can be good. Question is, is he Will Levis or could he be the good Baker Mayfield or better?

Yep but all these guys are dice rolls. Even the top pick. No way to know but as Gretzky said the only shots you are certain to miss are the ones you don't take.

Remind me of a time that Kroenke denied a contract extension

Lol
You realize that all of the contract money becomes guaranteed eventually right?
This take is so laughable

Speaking of the all-in strategy, Robert Mays did a great podcast on FA signings and superbowl teams this week. Def give it a listen if you have a minute. Basically, aside from the Broncos who bought their defense one year (and the still had Von and that interior guy), most teams that make the Superbowl have one thing in common, low end FAs that over-perform their contracts.

May give some people pause about going all in.

Count me as someone in favor of judicious moves in FA with Stafford at QB, some swings in the draft and possibly a move or two at the trade deadline if we're looking spicy next season (that's where I'd be cool with them pushing a lot of chips in).

I don't want to necessarily break the bank on like a Godwin now though.
We ain't getting Godwin, he's staying with the Bucs for this upcoming season.

Show me where I said he had. also we know he's not the kind of guy that will do so. But we have heard Snead and McVay talk about going to Stan with a plan to get his blessing on spending his money or taking big risks with his team. You'd have to be naive to think he isn't at the very least briefed in this kind of moves. But he's known as Silent Stan for a reason. The only time they've ever talked about discussing things with him that I remember him being talked to were the trades up for Goff and the trades for Von Miller and Stafford.

Does he sign off on all contracts? I dont doubt it.
Would he care if they extended Stafford? Of course not. That is the point a poster is trying to make.
If they want to pay him 70 mill, they'll pay him 70 mill
Either way, they'll spend up to the salary cap and Snead/Demoff will figure out how to cut up the pie

The mention of Stan by FO is PR talk. It’s funny anyone would think otherwise. We’re not talking a baseball team here who wants to increase payroll. Don’t believe everything you read.

Not cool. @Haden, you gotta provide a LINK when you post.

This "story" was just a fan-made post on another board to troll other posters and trick them into thinking it was real. There was a "troll war" going on between 2 posters, who were exchanging fake posts.

Trolling with fake articles is not appreciated on ROD. Don't bring that crap over here.

Save it for April Fools Day....
While it’s true we always want links when people post other people’s stuff, it happens quite often. Generally, we try to require posters to cite who wrote the article/info - which he did. So maybe not go so hard after a member as I don’t think he did it maliciously.

I get why you and many members grow tired bogus information. I do as well. It seems almost all the info circling around should have a “rumor” tag attached to it these days.

I think what’s worse is when people simply say “I heard” with nothing behind it.

Start “I heard” posts in 3-2-1…

This is what I recall. Those are franchise altering moves. We can't say that the decision to pay Stafford more money or not is in the same territory as those huge moves.

No way an old, proven, top 10 QB is going for an incentive-laden contract. And a SB is not guaranteed no matter what they do.

you're speaking for another man? many here think stafford isn't proven. incentive-laden can also mean games played. pay staff.
