So next year we draft a QB.

A rookie QB never wins anything so yeah 2-3 years of irrelevance like i said.

At some point moving to the next QB is going to happen - we just don't have that plan in place at all yet. So the timing isn't right.
If the Rams trade Stafford and get a 1st round pick in 2026, thus it provides them extra capital to get their guy. FWIW Jayden Daniels went pretty far in his rookie year.

I don't get why some people and fans, and maybe the Rams, are apparently balking at 50M ish for 2 years. He is worth that. It is the going rate. Elite QBs cost money. He has at least 1 good year left, and quite likely 2-3. I don't think that type contract traps you. For me, it is more so about the term of guaranteed money. If Stafford is willing to keep the term of guaranteed money on the short side I don't see what the hold up should be.

Ehh there this QB draft sucks and the free agents are meh.

We will prob be a .500 at best team for two years without a QB/

Not that simple in my mind.

I think 45-47 is a fair offer however.
I know what you mean, but don't quite agree on the success of the team without him. I feel like McVay would keep us up there.

I think he made 45 mil last year when everything was put together.
His APY is $40M. I believe he got $60M up front in 22', so his base salaries going forward is lower. He does not seem to understand that he got $60M up front.

So I am guessing they give him another 40M bonus up front again so the cap hit for that is spread out over the next 3 years with maybe another void year thrown in to spread out the cap hit even further. Probably means a higher base fir the next 2 years as well. So probably adding another $15M in cap number this year maybe more as they will want to reduce his cap impact as much as possible in 26' .

So will he be happy with that? And don't expect any FA help this year if they try to front load it as much as possible to limit the impact of this deal on re-signing these last two draft classes in 26' and 27'.

CJ Stroud, Jayden Daniel's and Bo Nix, not to mention *cough* Brock Purdy *cough* seemed to win a lot of games over the last few years. Times they are a changin....

Further his legacy period.... he goes to the raider or giants he is finishing his career being irrelevant.

I have a feeling he is realizing this.
Yup go out winning 11 game a year or losing that many. He doesn't make either of those teams a playoff team they're both still last place teams.

Last year was a good/great QB class - this year's is ass. Next year is better but that just goes with what I said about not being relevant for a couple years at least.

CJ stroud was dog shit this year.... purdy has regressed.

I get your point - its valid.

I think it's certainly possible, but i also think he could destroy the culture in the locker room.
I don’t think McVay would ever let that happen. There’s also an argument that Stafford nearly kept us from the playoffs by playing hurt for the last three weeks. You don’t think guys would’ve been pissed knowing he had cracked ribs that he could’ve rested from?

I dunno about that, Jayden Daniel's took the Commodes from 4 to 12 wins and the NFC championship game this past season.

Yeesh.

Yeesh. So a bit of a home town discount AND no term? Stafford probably balks at that, it makes you wonder if the Rams want him that bad.

I will say, his regular season numbers are good but replaceable, and have been for a few years now. Maybe he was injured. Maybe he saves it for when he needs it ag his age. Say whatever you want. But I would be all in for parting ways with #9 based on his regular season metrics... what he is worth his weight in gold for is that he always brings an A++ game when it matters. Vs. the Vikings in prime time this year with the season on the line. Vs. Buffalo in the shootout. All playoffs long. Vs. Detroit last year in the playoffs, and week 1 this year under the brightest lights vs. the Lions. In almost all of those games he was the best player on the field for either side. When the chips are down, he is a top 5 QB, no doubt about it, and he knows how to win it all not only in general but with this coach and offensive system and brings that experience and leadership, at the most position in football bar none, to an otherwise very young roster - all that is what you have to pay up for. If we can get him for 40M, great. But a 1 year deal? Give him what he wants IMO. Do they seriously think he does not have at least 1 more year in him?

may be Stafford figures he's not winning in L.A. anyway because he knows what's going on around him player wise and the more money part looks better. might as well play for the money at this point than playing injured like he does every year and not going to the Superbowl again for less money. Super Bowl is our preference but maybe not his anymore. If he stays, will he be content.

I know jordan said they were firm on their numbers but its a negotiation= cant start off with your best possible offer typically.

Why on earth would Stafford or any player be willing to keep the term of guaranteed money on the short side? Especially at 37 years old.
