I assume its because they have big bucks. That said, what is the legal reasoning behind naming his employer? What are they liable for with him visiting a bar on his own time? I suspect, none at all.
Well that’s the question, how does FOX have liability?

Piecing this story together, it sounds like the dude parked in Sanchez’s wind sprint path now that’s egregious
I was piecing it together too and agree.

So Sanchez is out that late at night in an alley doing wind sprints. Whether it's to work off his drunkenness or he was twitching is anyone's guess. I don't party hard so I don't know what the kids do and why when they have to sober up. So he's got the alley all to himself with a clear runway. Along comes the oil pickup guy who parks his (unmarked maybe) truck somewhere in the path of Sanchez' sprinting lanes. Now maybe you or I when someone "takes over" our "free space" in public may mutter under our breath: "this asshole" but do nothing. Sanchez being drunk or high took it a step further and confronted the guy and said "You can't park there" wanting him to get out of his space. The old guy always parks there to do his oil pickup so Sanchez is interrupting his routine. The old guy is like what is this drunk dude talking about and what authority does he have? So words are exchanged back and forth. Maybe swearing comes into play which can escalate a situation. Sanchez doesn't like what he hears from the old guy or his refusal to move his truck and then gets physical which gets completely out of hand. Sanchez goes into his truck to bully him. Sanchez starts attacking him so the old guy tries pepper spray to no effect. Sanchez gets angrier and keeps coming and beats on him, throws him into a wall and the guy thinks "He's trying to kill me." He stabs him and Sanchez freaks out and leaves the area.

They are suing Fox Sports as the employer who flew Sanchez out to Indy to call the game. So Fox is directly or indirectly responsible for him being there. If he wasn't there old guy doesn't get beat almost to death. It's like being the driver not knowing the guy you dropped off or picked up was involved in a serious crime. You get in trouble too.

As for saying "This happened over a parking space", well you can say anything to make it sound like a silly or stupid reason. Like "they fought over a game" or "they fought over 2 teams" or whatever. These aren't the reasons they fought but a case of perceived or actual DISRESPECT that follows that causes the fights. Not everyone is a de-escalator. Unless you're a crying whiner fan after losing to the Rams in Sofi in the NFC title game!

Inspector Clouseau is standing on a street, and a cute dog looks up at him adorably.

Clouseau asks the man standing next to the dog … “Does your dog bite?”

The man replies smugly “No”, so Clouseau reaches down to pet the dog.

The dog bites him!

Clouseau looks at the man and says … “You said your dog does Not bite!”

The man glances down and replies … “That, is not my dog.”

I wonder if using his expense account P-Card or whatever they call it would render FOX more culpable. Having worked for FOX we have to attend all kinds of harassment/acceptable behavior meetings. In these meetings they make it clear that while representing the brand you are held responsible for your behavior even while off the clock in certain scenarios. Not sure if this will come into play or if it works in reverse where a victim can hold FOX liable for an off hours encounter with one of their employees.
His contract language may come into play but it's all just a guess and way too early to do more than play keyboard detective.
