Sounds like he may be done for the rest of the season.
At least it's not an ACL

Malcolm Brown - RB - Rams
Rams RB Malcolm Brown is out indefinitely with an MCL injury.

Per ESPN Rams reporter Alden Gonzalez, Brown suffered the injury at the end of Sunday's blowout win over the Giants. Brown is reportedly a candidate for surgery, suggesting a particularly severe MCL tear. Lance Dunbar and Justin Davis are next up on the depth chart behind Todd Gurley. Brown had been impressing in mop-up duty, earning double-digit carries in back-to-back games.

Interesting, I listend to McVay's presser when Alden asked about Brown and McVay never said anything like this. Betting it's more BSPN speculation.

That sucks. Now Justin Davis is the next man up. Or even better, McVay can incorporate Gerald Everett in one of those jet sweeps as he's got shiftiness and jets to take it all the way.

It was bound to happen eventually. That sucks. But still just a backup so have to still be happy about our injury situation for the season so far. Sounds like Dunbar will get a chance to work himself into the rotation sooner than later. Tavons role will probably increase a few carries as well which isn't a bad thing.

Davis scares me. The one thing that has been our undoing in our two losses is turnovers. But again, all things considered i am thankful for the teams overall health so far.

Hate to hear Brown being injured, but cant wait to see Davis on the field now. Completely different type of back, but Davis is extremely shifty with good vision and speed. If he can keep the fumbles down he will tear it up.

Davis should get a chance...but I think we should also consider looking on some practice squad rosters to see if there may be a solid option that can run between the tackles...

I think Dunbar fits more in the mold of Austin rather than Brown, I'd rather see Davis filling out that 'change of pace' role, at least for now. If we aren't going to consider invading another teams practice squad, might also give some thought to bringing Sam Rogers back up to the 53. jmo.

I like Davis here. Shame that Brown got hurt but I was wondering if Davis would ever see the field this year. I think he'll do fine I'm not even worried about any so called fumbling, he probably got it out of his system.

Really liked him. Personally, don't think he was too special of a runner. But seemed like a solid backup and a good workhorse. Good catcher too. Hopefully not severe.

We do have a deep RB group.

I think Brown is a very good runner. He and the line can get first downs when the opponents know that he is getting the ball every down. Not every runner can do that. Brown sees the holes and runs hard. I know he doesn't have Turkey's speed, but if needed to start a few games, he could get the job done. I think he could start for some teams that use multiple backs, like the Redskins.

thought they brought up isaiah johnson for davis and continued using the exemption for dunbar?

Johnson was released already per http://nfltraderumors.co/category/team-rumors/rams-rumors/

Malcolm Brown is Bona Fide ! Hate to hear this. He is a great back up to Gurley when you need to run the clock out. Neither Dunbar or Austin can fill this role. Justin Davis would be the better replacement for Brown while he heals up. Brown will be a RFA in March of 2018.

He is a core special teams guy as well. Had that nice TD a few games back

Let's Davis spell TGII and put Dunbar in during garbage time if he is eligible

Isaiah Johnson was activated from the practice squad to take the place of Cody Davis, however, if Brown had to go on IR, they obviously will activate Lance Dunbar.

ESPN reports "With backup RB Malcolm Brown out with an MCL injury for an extended period of time, the Rams could have Lance Dunbar -- who is still on the PUP list but has been practicing this week -- fill in behind starter Todd Gurley" I would like to see what Dunbar can do but Davis is probably more game ready..

If he's ready, let him play. Early in the season, McVay got him for some reason....Let's see the mad scientist do what he originally intended....
