I’m keeping Hav next year if it was up to me. Restructure contract if you must. Too many other unknown and potential changes along the OL. Continuity is a good thing for an OL.

Yea Hav has been amazing this year. One of his best years in Horns. But I get the argument some made about moving Edwards out from LG. To me he's been our weakest OL, Edwards just gets beat too much. But makes sense he's a Tackle naturally. Not sure what the answer is at LG, but we cant lose Whit and Hav both in one off-season.

:fistbump1::giggle: !

......when the Rams have four of their top OL'ers involved in Free Agency & NOT under contract & your starting LT retiring (that's 5 OL'ers) in a little over than a month there is ZERO chance of any consideration being given to moving away from Havenstien @ RT.

I don't get those wanting to unload Havenstein as a CAP Casualty when he's playing so well and a simple extension accomplishes the same goal of reducing his 2022 CAP hit, and at 29 years old his best football should still be in front of him.

I agree that Edwards is a weak link for our OL and might be better served in a back-up OT role going forward. When he and Corbett became starters in 2019, it was Edwards at RG and Corbett at LG, they traded positions in 2020 likely because Edwards was a penalty magnet at RG. Moving Corbett back to LG and filling the RG position with a quality player may settle the question.

If they part ways with Whit and Allen and then move Hav (he is tradeable at that contract number) that's three spots flipped on the OL. Three spots where you're likely to have some dropoff, maybe not too much but still dropoff. So while I think Hav remains as a potential spot to get some cap space he's also performing well.

To do that you'd have to have someone coming in who is so much an upgrade somewhere else that it makes up for what you lose at RT.

Now maybe they're really really high on their depth. If that's the case it's doable but this is a contender not some run of the mill roster where a GM is willing to risk big dropoff on OL play. I'd say Hav is possible as a trade piece but unlikely if they move on from two others which seems like it has a good chance to happen.

Just some OL thought nuggets at this point in time.....2021 season from 2020-

Andrew Whitworth: 85.3 (-0.8), Joseph Noteboom: 78.1 (+2.3). JN will likely have the JPP assignment, which he faced in Week 10 of 2020. I agree with you not much difference between AW & JN in the overall performances but I would add that JN might be a better pass protector & that AW is better in the run blocking.

The biggest trench show on these line battles Sunday afternoon will not be on the edges but will be the center vs. those two inside DT's Vea & Suh. If McVay forgets about the run game this becomes a big problem for our interior OL'ers. Brian Allen is far better in his run blocking assignments even going up against an NT like Vea than pass blocking.

Did you notice :wow2::startstruck:that OL coach Carberry went with center Coleman Shelton as the Rams 6th OL'er on the right side edge in the Wild Card game after JN was inserted into starter @ LT? It was NOT the senior reserve OL Bobby Evans... what are your thoughts on that?

Shelton has demonstrated excellent mobility with accuracy to make those blocks on the move whereas Evans has had all kinds of whiffs & missed blocks when utilized as the 6th OL'er. IMO Shelton is a better run blocker on the edge than Noteboom when used as the 6th OL'er. He hits his target. Against this Buc defense, I would let this OL run block their posteriors off taking the manhandling approach to attack. This OL even without AW is fully healthy give them the chance to make these run blocks & shock o_Othe NFL world with a power game mentality even with having the super hyped-up skilled positions receivers on board. Bucs will be caught with their pink thongs & panties down.

The Bucs will prioritize stopping the run to force McVay & Stafford to primarily play their weaknesses. Bucs planning to squeeze out several crucial Stafford INT's by the end of the first half to control the game from that point in order to get the tight win. Bucs will protect their weak secondary in their game plan.

My conclusion is McVay must run and run again to wear down that veteran DL in the 2nd half utilizing all Michel, Akers, and Henderson keeping those RB's fresh with the ability to carry the game on their shoulders against the planning by the Bucs coaching staff. There is a 5 yr past History on McVay that tells them McVay will not stay with the run game in critical close games.

It's up to HC McVay to win this, he now has a full stud-horse corral to do just that for the first time this season! McVay also now has 2 very good RB pass catchers with very good speed (Akers/Henderson) to utilize for big gains after Stafford's short passes.
Agree I have more concern with the interior 3 guys than I do with our tackles. The game will be decided most likely in the middle when it comes to ability to run and to keep the pocket from collapsing on Stafford.

The more I look at contracts they do have room to open up space and make next yr the "all in" yr so to speak.

With Floyd, Kupp, and Ramsey they can easily convert salary to bonus money to open up considerable cap room. Then you still have Stafford and a likely new deal that would be cap friendly in yr one & two.

Then you still move on from Whitworth and then you can trade or cut Hekker and possibly Robinson. I also could see them trading Rapp to remove his $2M contract. Even a late pick helps as I think his coverage issues are a liability and they need cheap draft picks.

So I am starting to think they can keep some of these key vets like Noteboom, Beckham, Miller, and Michel.

Even more aggressive.. there are several contracts, imo, they can extend.. and really drop next year's numbers.
As I said in another post... I'm fine with a shit... clear out the cap year 5 years down the road.. to keep *this* roster intact next year.

If they're aggressive.. they can open up a ton of money. A ton.

Kupp is a no-brainer.. if they decide to extend Havenstein... They could extend Donald..

They could also just stagger some years of cap hits.. which they've survived this year and last.

Yeah, I've been mentioning potential CAP savings from extensions for awhile now. My only issue with your post is about cutting/trading Robinson as this soon to be 27 year old has really become an asset this year for our DL, and with SJD likely moving on as a free agent following this season, retaining as much of our very solid front 7 on D becomes paramount. Re-signing Von Miller certainly would more than make up for losing Okoronkwo to free agency, ... and extending A'Shawn Robinson not only saves 2022 CAP dollars, but keeps us with another strong young defensive player who is just now coming into his own.

Bonifay’d I always like how you’ve broken down The Rams offensive line.

Gosh Coleman Shelton has been a real bright spot for The Rams.I can’t even look past 2021/22 set right now.
What I will tell you is your right about Shelton’s play & never got to watch The Rams game like I wanted to, & will have the game on tape delay today.
Bobby Evans isn’t all that & when Noteboom got Covid David Edwards started at LT with Shelton at LG.Brian Allen has been solid. What he was a alternate Pro Bowl guy ? I don’t know & how The Rams decide The offensive lineman’s future.

Les Snead has done an amazing job a long with The Rams coaching staff(Careberry) bringing players a long. AJ Jackson went to LT & Edwards back at guard when Allen got hurt that one game.We never posted together like we use to about The Offensive line. I’ve been defending Raheem Morris & The DB depth all season with you.
AJ Jackson has so much upside & was a UDRFA. Les loves his 7th rd picks also & Tremaine Anchrum is another example of Rams young depth.
Brewer is still only 24/25 ?

SoRam and Mr. Bean are the same person?

Yeah ok BubbaRam . Lol.

I’ll always try to keep it positive. Upset still I didn’t buy you a Beer when you started you Whose House Chant in the Front Row with Veteran Ram. I was talking to some guy & then went behind the bleachers to get you one & I had talked to much.

Then I end up talking this young police woman’s ear off.I was a little lit & had a beer in my hand.Told her how I knew The Rams we’re coming to LA all F’d up at a KROQ acoustic Christmas talking to a cop with 2 beers after downing a bottle of red wine at the Hollywood track casino parking. Anyway maybe not in details , but you get my drift.

I don’t know if you knew(know) who I am over the years.I’ve kept in sort of low profile. I do yell at all The Players & coaches a little from time to time. Like almost always.

Anyway The Classic was you going to Oxnard. LMAO - Total Classic. I don’t know if Gas Prices had peaked by then ? I dated a gal from Semi-valley & she was(is ?) absolutely crazy. She was a Kapernik fan & Niner Fan.Won’t go into it,but I’m absolutely crazy in a different way.I just go & have fun.Would go solo there from there from the start.
I actually went to Vegas 3 times with her over a course of 5 years. List some big time money betting Jeff Fisher to win over 7 games.Funny it was a thing on Hardknocks.
I was 5 ft away from T. Austin on the bleachers right after the Banana incident. I was going to make a joke
to him in front of EVeryBody. I looked to The Right of me & The Hottest Ran-Gal can basically said she would do me. That was my Mr Bean moment.
Wow-how times keep changing.
I’m happy now & my new GF is turning into a Rams Fan.Saw the coolest Stafford Boys Jersey & didn’t buy it.She went against me & LA teams hen they went on a Lossing streak. All is good BABY BuBBa Ram !!

Whatever road you have taken I know when my parents got a divorce that memory road I walked to my dreams through Covid.

Where Dreams are made of !! Going into SOFI & yelling as the music(DJ) started up was classic for me.Standing in there with a beer in my hand watching how the staff there come together.Fresh Bathrooms nobody even pissed on cost me nothing but those drinks. The Rams organization is First Class. Bubba Ram you should know that & made that trip. I would have picked you up. Dave 53 from Semi-Valley is looking down & would have LOVED this season.

Subject: David Edwards starting LG......he is far more RT than RG or LG. His height works against him often being over 6-6 tall. Since the Rams do not need an RT but need an LG Edwards has been the best working part now for 2 seasons since the Noteboom debacle @ LG. This former 2019 5th round selection has helped this OL have winning seasons now since he arrived. Many Ram sites still have him listed as an OT.

David Edwards is starting on the very cheap $$$ side as far as starting LG's go in the NFL sure helps with the payments for all those aging stars accumulated the last 2 seasons. Edwards has one more season left here in LA & I would think that Edwards's graded performances would increase if he was starting @ RT in the NFL, His run blocking against shorter stout NT types cause him issues & always will.

Coleman Shelton's best skill is run blocking and hitting the secondary targets on the move. Don't think he would be the best LG taking on those pass-rushing DT Aaron Donald types coming in on Stafford's blindside. At this time I do not see a Ram reserve being groomed to replace Edwards looks to me the Rams do not have any. Tremayne Anchrum appears to have more RG skills than LG skills. Jackson is taller than Edwards @ 6-7 but might be the answer if there were a need to replace Edwards. Rookie Jackson has looked good in run blocking in cameo appearances.

You would be correct according to this report.

Your on FIRE Bonifay’d!!

I’m going to enjoy this season.

With Whitworth & Noteboom both missing what that Arizona & Seahawk game.Jalen missed one of those games. Still LMAO on all the Raheem Morris Secondary(you) Haters on how this Rams defense is coming together. It was Raheem Morris who actually called Eric Weedle up.Troy Reeder Haters hopefully saw that great combo TD when David Long found a freebie at SoFI.

Anyways ALL your points are SPOT ON!! Who knows what is going to happen in 2022 season, but 2022 is here & I don’t want to miss the beginning of the End of 2021 season at SoFI.
Getting The 9ers & Then Saffold at home to win it all ? Get REVENGE for those 3 season Home Losses. ARIZONA is already started it ALL!!

Loyal Ram will be happy if that happens. He is the one who said it wasn’t going to happen & The Rams would go undefeated at Home.

For The 2 SuperBowl losses I think The Rams Owe Tom Brady a Little Revenge!!!

Go Rams 2021/22 SUPERBOWL Champs!!

Our best DL'er today to stop the Buc's running attack is Robinson followed closely by Gaines. So many times when our opponent RB hit the line of play & stop suddenly you will see usually see DT A'Shawn Robinson taking him backwards.

AR is also one of the only Ram DL'ers who know how to place his hands & arms in the sight of the QB & when the ball departs. AR's contract was originally for just 2 seasons. However, the Rams reworked his contract to get 3 seasons from him. Smart! AR has played in 25 regular season gms 2020 thru 2021 with 15 starts plus has another season in 2022 under contract.

The Rams have an aging 31 yr old DT Aaron Donald with a ton of mileage on him & an NT Greg Gaines is just here for one more season. Name me a Ram DL reserve that is being groomed who has shown any potential to be inserted into AR's post on that left side to start? Bobby Brown has NOT looked good at any time with his 27 snaps with only 1 tackle. #99's backup Marquise Copeland has 108 regular season snaps & had a good number against the Cards in the wildcard gm. MC has 10 tackles but he is just a run stopper with zero pass rush.

I should add that keeping AD fresh needs to be a priority & coach Henderson needs to keep utilizing Copland & Brown as much as possible in today's game on running downs to keep the 3 starters as fresh as possible.

It's a shame that DE Terrell Lewis has been such a BIG disappointment he has not been seen since wk 12 & had been a healthy scratch each week since. 2nd yr Lewis has the great size & length size to work with Robinson @ the left DDE spot together.

Noteboom isn't the run blocker that Whit is, but he proved today he is up to the challenge of replacing him. Let's get Whit that Super Bowl ring so he can ride off into the sunset.

Despite gearing up the playoff run, I can't help but think what will McSnead do.

Do we dare trust the LT spot to the great Big Whit at 41 years old?
Have we seen enough of Noteboom to lock him up?
Do we do what we always seem to do and sign a free agent?

Personally the age scares me, despite how great #77 has been to our team. So I'm willing to give Noteboom a mid level contract. Pay him as an above average starter money on a 3-5 year deal.

What says you???

side note I think we need to upgrade at our LG position, no matter what we do!
Our center and RG combo needs to be better but Noteboom is the future

Might be......Noteboom @ LT & Whitworth @ LG might be a dynamic power duo for the next two games?

Whitworth's knee might be healthy enough to perform @ LG ........his old LG post he played the first 3 seasons in Cincy?

Playing LT with a lingering & limited high ankle injury against those 9ers pass rushing demon's DE's may be a bad mistake next Sunday. Using his still high run blocking skills inside might work.

Has it been confirmed "High Ankle"? Hoping to get Whitworth back for his run blocking skills
