I am very happy Kyren got the deal. Not sure why so much handwringing. The Rams have thrown away money a LOT worse than this great investment. Kyren is a light in the locker room. And a guys that won't just rest now that he has a contract....cough....JJ...cough. He will work harder if anything, and his mom will have to build a new wing on their house to hold all the balls Kyren hands her these next 3 years. And yes, some of this pay is reward for what he has done the last two years. But Kyren has a lot left in the tank.

The Corum/Hunter stuff will work itself out. My guess is Kyren's load is cut back a bit this year. One of the two emerge (I say Hunter) this year, and go 50/50 with Kyren next year, then Kyren is phased out and it becomes Hunter 70/30 with Corum in '27.

As for the fumbles, the beloved Dickerson had double digit fumbles all 4 full years he was with the Rams, (13, 14, 10, 12) and as great as he was, used to drive me crazy with his fumbling. Kyren -though a couple of fumbles have been killers- has great ball security, and it seems is determined to get even better.

Not emotional at all though just analytical.
Analytically speaking, the RB room is taking up less than 14 mill of the near 280 mill cap, or 5%. That's incredibly frugal in the big picture considering the RB's scored 16 of the 40 touchdowns (40%)
I think the important thing is that despite the extension, it wont prevent McVay from continuing to upgrade the position

Money is probably right....I don't know that I would have done it. But we probably don't need to draft a RB for the next few years now

Kyren's one of the best running backs in the league. A work horse type back you can give the ball to 20 times a game. Still young. He'll be 25 in a few weeks. Has a nose for the endzone. And a good attitude. I'm good with having a back of his caliber for the next 3 years.

Im blessed that my favorite Pro Football team has the best young Head Coach and my favorite College Football team has arguably one of the best young Head Coaches.
I also applaud where Freeman played college football & the University he attended.

We had some serious OL frailties during the Hendo era. Always felt bad because he didn’t have the frame to keep pounding out all his yards on his own.
That’s fair, although I wonder if Hendo could have ever put up the numbers that KW has in the last 2 years.

I feel pretty confident saying that Akers wouldn’t have.

Hendo missed a lot of holes. So did Akers. One of the things that makes this line good is KW's vision. He would have done better with their line as well.

Fair value contract.

He has been very productive, among the most productive in the NFL, and obviously is great in this system. His ability to make a man miss with a quick cut when players get into the backfield the second the ball is snapped is among the best in the NFL. He's also great at short yardage. Good vision, seldom misses holes, and I love his attitude - if anyone can work hard to fix a fumble issue, it's KW. Though at this stage of his career, I think it more likely "he is what he is" at this point.

At the same time... he has no top end speed, fumble issues, and gets banged up. And there is an advanced stat somewhere saying he got exactly the yardage expected of him given how opposing defenses lined up. No more. No less. Not exactly what you would hope for from your RB1 to not manufacture unexpected yards. And his highly productive numbers are also a bit skewed - the Rams have given him almost all the snaps. Very few RBs are used as a bell-cow the way KW has been. Curious what his stats would look like comparatively if if other RB1s got the same volume. And despite that high usage, he also ranks very poorly on number of long runs, near the bottom of the NFL - again, poor top end speed.

I don't think anybody can be mad at this deal. But it's not one I'm excited about, particularly as RB is a position you can generally draft and replace with regularity, so I don't know about committing bigger dollars to a player that is not truly elite like a Gurley, or a CMC. And the Rams seem to be aware of Williams' limitation as evidence by drafting Hunter this year.

File this under "okay" for me. With salary inflation he could easily look like a bargain soon at this rate. But so too would a RB on a rookie deal, eating far less cap space in absolute dollars...

The Rams yet again pay their own when they earn a deal on the field through their play. There is value in that for a culture and lock roomer, and establishing your team as the place to play.

I wish him nothing but success going forward. This is the kind of player and person I can pull for and wish there were more of in the NFL.

Barry Redden from the University of Richmond. Saw him play a couple times as I’m about 10 miles away. Same place Kobie Turner started. Never had the pleasure of watching him play.
He was a 1st round pick that was supposed to be the guy. Until Dickerson fell in their laps.

I was a Hendo fan (and remember how he could snatch a pass out of the air and seemlessly jet up field?), but yeah Kyren’s a whole nother level, plus stellar leadership and character.

Fair deal, I'm a fan.
KW is a competitor and plays like he loves the game. numbers are right about where many thought they would have to be to get the deal done.
I love how we have continued to build and invest in this team.
Time for some positive news on Matthew

File this under an ok deal for me as well, but then again, would love to know the intricate details since it might not even be a real 3 yr deal based on the structure of the contract.
