I think we will all be disappointed with the compensation the Rams receive for Kupp. I bet we miss him next year.

I feel like Kupp to Chargers is just some mid-minded fan on a board going like, "he doesn't need to move."

I'll wait to see more info on this. I haven't seen even a wiff of smoke from a candle here.

It's not the worst move for the Chargers though, not a great move either.

I mean, if health is the issue, and Kupp remains healthy all year and regains some speed and change of direction ability because being hurt and not age took that from him, then yeah, I think he'll do well next year.

Lots of ifs and still can't keep him on that contract.

ya Kupp's COD has suffered. Got totally mugged by the "other Cooper" (DeJean) while trying to do a quick inside-then-out route (?).

My thoughts are that if we get a Day 2 pick for Kupp, Snead has pulled off a miracle. The most I'm hoping for is 4th or 5th round value.
I look at Adam Thielen and at the age of 32 had over 100 catches or at least close, Kupp will be that guy with his work ethic as long as he stays healthy of course.

Personally I'd prefer to keep Kupp and see if he has one last hurrah in him. But sadly I don't see him in a Rams uni next season. I don't even know if they'll even be able to trade him with that contract. They might just end up releasing him outright to save a few more cap dollars. I'd be shocked if we got anything more than a day 3 pick. Along with paying some of his contract.
His cap hit of $29Mil makes it tough but he will obviously have to restructure his deal but for sure not out of the question and making him equally just as worthy.

Jones was a reclamation project at best anyway but young with a good arm and a lot of mobility. Ive read a few different things but this seems the most feasible. Vikings get even another WR2-3 to along with JJ and Addison not even mentioning Hock. I think for the Rams to off load that salary is what it comes down at the end of the day and get picks in return and a possible replacement for Stafford for next year or the year after. Again just my thoughts but seems reasonable. Next thought would be to Washington for a 2nd and a 6th for Kupp and 6th or 7th rounder. Pairing Kupp with scary Terry and JD seems crazy for Washington but realistic. Let me know your thoughts?!
I apologize I was only offering a suggestion not that it was a true quote or offer i read some where, i will do better next time thread!

Is it a mild cap savings to trade/cut?

No, that's correct. That's kind of my point.

Kupp has a $30M cap hit in 2025. That is way-too-high. However, the majority of that amount will hit the Rams' cap regardless of what they do. By-the-way, the combined 2025 cap hit of Kobie Turner, Byron Young, Jared Verse and Braden Fiske is only about $8M.

According to the cap sites, if Kupp is traded (pre-June), the cap hit is $17.5M; and the savings is $12.5M. From what I have read, the Rams might be willing to eat some money via trade, which would decrease the $12.5M savings amount.

If Kupp is released (pre-June), the cap hit is $22.5M; and the savings is only $7.5M.
That would be a choice of Cooper Kupp in 2025 ... OR ... No Cooper Kupp, and an extra $7.5M.
Personally, I consider Kupp more valuable than a mere $7.5M of additional salary cap.

Good Lord. This thread title made me think we made that trade. Which is funny because Jones isn't even on the Vikings currently. Offer Kupp and some kind of draft compensation to get into the 2nd round. Wishful thinking I know, but a future 3rd or 4th could potentially do it? In the 2nd we could get a stud TE or future QB. Worth it to me.
Your right I apologize I was just offering my opinion of a fair trade based off some recent rumors I read about.

Have to take into to account 2026 cap savings. Moving him now takes all the dead cap this year... prolonging a move into 2026, affects 2026's cap, maybe even 2027?

If released pre June 1st in 26', then he counts 7.5M in dead cap for 26. So a total of 15M in savings overall by moving him now. So get it over with now, pre June 1st, take all the dead cap this year.
