Maybe, just maybe this is a sign on what Rams going to do in the draft...mobile QB?

Don't know about a mobile one per se but yes I think this is a very very strong indication we spend a draft pick on a QB and Kliffy gets to groom him along with Dave Ragone.

I also think McVay wants more time to focus on the entire 53 considering the defense & STs sunk their SB chances this year. So Kingsbury can take a load off of his shoulders, which is important with LaFluer leaving.

I don't think he wanted Scheelchasse to be his top offensive assistant considering how young he is. Kingsbury brings experience with him to support Scheelchasse so McVay can coach the entire team.

Guessing Kingsbury is named Passing Game Coordinator & Assistant HC.

Then they can promote Scheelchaase to OC.
That would make sense. But Kliff's got better quals for the job. So it would be hard to get him to come in and be the kid's coffee boy.

If Kliff takes a pass game coordinator or QB coach job more power to the Rams. But he'll probably be OC.

If it was for an OC spot they'd have announced it that way.

I don't see it that way but maybe you're perfectly in tune with the front office. We'll see. I'm just happy to see him come onboard. Didn't expect it.

One thing about McVay is he’s always willing to bring in people and get their perspective and draw on their strengths. McVay’s offensive approach has evolved in his years with the Rams and I think it’s because he’s willing to adapt and change to benefit the team. This is one of his many strengths.

Has any team let alone the Rams ever hired somebody and later announced what his job title was?

The guy who announced it on the NFL Network specifically said Kingsbury will not be the offensive coordinator.
Then it's an even more impressive hire to get him to come in second fiddle behind the kid.

No idea. But at the time of the post I figured maybe this information got out to the media and they hadn't hammered out the roles yet.

Apparently they said he's not OC. So you are correct.

I think it will be set up as a senior advisor role to Scheelhaase. Kind of like a mentor role while reporting directly to McVay. That's why they could give him a title of Assistant HC position/Passing Game Coordinator.

I think they have done this before. I kind of remember guessing before a role of a new coach that was announced by the Rams.

In 2024 they hired a guy as a Senior Offensive Assistant.

Jerry Schplinski | Senior Offensive Assistant

Could be a similar role/title for Kingsbury.

I like it. He's a bright offensive mind. Think we'll benefit from it. I'd promote Scheelhaase to OC and put Kingsbury in a different role.

Sorry, but the kid is ascending, while Kliff just got fired. He's joining our staff because he wants to be a HC again, and McVay is the NFL's premier HCmaker right now. I'd give the OC job to Scheelhaase. It doubly benefits us. Tells ascending coaches that they'll rise up the ranks if they come here, and it puts Scheelhaase in a position to land a NFL HC job next offseason (netting us two 3rds).
