Hard to know the his level on contribution.
Does he help create and form the offense?
Or does he just help run practice and implement what McVay wants when and how McVay wants?
A guy to take some of the day to day off of McVays plate is the most likely I think....but who knows?
As an aside I always thought it would be much easier to call games up in the booth with the birds eye.

What were you doing at 4:20 in the am, other than seperating sentences with posts instead of periods? ;)

Um, my only question about Kevin O'Connell is that I feel like I never hear him singled out and given credit for anything. Is that accurate?

How much of the game planning is he evolved with. It’s easier to say right now though that the offense is doing well.
IMO he is a big reason The Rams offense struggled early.

yeah no one seems to know how much he has to do with the offence. because mcvay was noted for being an offensive coach maybe why we don't hear much about o'connell. still even if o'connell has a lot to do with the offence it is mcvay with final say. mcvay may have turned the defence over to staley that is why we hear more about him.

Yep !! Just trying to open up other ideas besides only blaming Mcvay & Goff with The offense.

Looking forward and not back., Kevin is just a tool in the tool chest, he’s not the carpenter. We need all our tools to finish constructing the season.

Don’t know where to start regarding the O’Connell acquisition.

McVay loves him.
Goff loves him.
He’s lightened McVay’s load by handling some details.
Goff’s fundamentals have improved.
Goff is now noticeably better at coping with the blitz.
Goff seems better able to read D’s this year.
McVay seems less inclined to abandon the run this year. O’Connell influence?
Run game improved this year. O’Connell influence?
Less deep throws, more of the safer and chain moving short to medium throws. O’Connell influence?
Rams are winning more TOP battles due to some combination of the above. O’Connell influence?
Rams have successfully transitioned from Gurley and Cooks. O’Connell influence?

Look, everybody easily notices the Staley influence because it’s beyond obvious and completely separate from McVay’s O. But O’Connell is operating behind the curtains and in McVay’s shadow so it’s harder to put our finger on his exact contributions. But I suspect that cumulatively they are considerable AND greatly appreciated by the Ram insiders.

I give him some credit for Goff's improvement over last year as well as us seeing more diversity in the offense

I’m not sure what impact/role O’Connell has had, but this is what I see.
Overall ppg scoring up from 2019

Passing:
Goff comp % up by 5%
TD% up
INT% down
Passer rating up by 6 points

Rushing:
Yards per carry up by .5 yard per carry
Yards per game up by 35 yards per game
19 rushing TD in 13 games vs 20 in 16 games last year
RB receptions, catch rate and yards all up from last year

So all in all, whoever is responsible for all this improvement, deserves a huge thumbs up

That’s far enough. The Rams offense is on a role. I believe the 2 TE’s (12) is a big reason the offense has started to get better.
Kromer & Phillips I’m sure have a big part in the change.I like how the Offense has improved since the last Niners loss.

I’ll say there has been a lot of uncharacteristic that have happened
this season.
Don’t know about Goff’s improvement at times as well.I just hope the offense keeps rolling. The ground game is going to open up more things as well.

just a sorry ass Rams fan. Truth is that this is a solid topic.

if this is offensive? I do need to say I was talking about myself.

The truth once again,I’m just a Ram fan posting from the heart.I don’t think questioning the OC should be a question mark against.

The Rams are playing against the
J E T S.Should be a big offensive production.

Lol - all good. Just breaking it down. There has been a lot going on with the OC this year. I thought the offense would have been way ahead of other teams.
The defense on the other hand Would have guessed differently.

Watching the Packers vs Teddy. Matt Lafleur has done pretty well.Add Goff having a new OC every season seems
to be a lot.

They had a beef as well McVays rookie season .

The 3rd & 4 from Jets 37.

What do you do? Time left 4:05 fourth Qrt. Whose call ??

At what point do you say I’m going for it on 4th down?

What is Gays kicking distance for This Day(game) & field conditions?

—The Rams throw deep to Akers after a 2-10 short pass to left for 6 yards. Then go for it on 4th down with another deep pass.

The Higbee call ? But Akers did bust a 17 yard run & call was at the 33

What part of any of that decision making belong to Kevin O’Connell?
We all know Mcvay takes responsibility
for it to the Media.
